I came across gambling some years back then in school when my friend is a gambler and used to gist me on his gambling experience and how he use to make money from gambling whenever he bets, he introduced me to sport betting because that's what he often engage doing as well, he took me to a casino gambling station near our neighborhood in the environment we lived in, i gamble for the first time but loose the game together with him, but he's a gambling addicted fellow I've ever met as friend, though i try to maintain some distance from him in other to avoid some negative influence.

About yesterday I came across a friend looking so depressed and sad and tried to interrogate with him then he said he felt like giving up in life and i asked why, he said he used about 80% of his savings to stake on a particular football game and lost, I felt so pity for him and had to encourage him with some advices.
Though I've had losses in gambling but I've never had such a sad one like he's, I was introduced to gambling by a coursemate in college who won a jackpot, thought I lost in my first three trials but played again and won about 80k in my local currency, there are people that's made millions through gambling and some others are yet to win but still find it difficult to quit, share your experience if you have any whether good or bad, cause I believe there are people here who would learn from it.
When I first joined gambling I gambled there with ambition but after a long time when I realized that it is not a platform for earning money then I gambled normally and tried to enjoy from here. I am addicted to sports betting. I thought that since I can do good research there is a better chance of me winning. It was mainly with this purpose in mind that I was inspired into gambling. I have both good and bad experiences here. I have a history of big wins as well as big losses in gambling. But overall now I just consider it a part of my recreation. Gambling can be both bad and good. Gambling is something that an addict knows very well. I used to see people around me gambling a lot and seeing them lose and win a lot of money. I was attracted to gambling after seeing them and I gambled. I started playing. First time I gambled I was winning. Then after that greed I continued to gamble. I lost a lot of money playing this gambling then I thought gambling is really a bad medium. When I win I feel like gambling is actually good. It's not that I've given up gambling, I still gamble sometimes for fun. When I lose, it doesn't affect me like it used to. So I'd say there are good and bad sides to gambling.

The initial reason for me to start gambling is the same as most gamblers, and that's winning money. I used to play slots and dice almost every day when I was still new, and it wasn't the best experience because I was losing most of the time. I sometimes win, but they're usually big enough to double or triple my balance. Now I gamble to have fun, and that's my current reason. I participate in different contests or prediction pools that are becoming popular here in the gambling section.
Your experience is almost the same as mine but what sets me apart is knowing and trying gambling when I was a teenager and intending to make more money from small capital.My goal is to make money to be able to buy anything to have fun and from there I started to like gambling until now, but a few years ago my life was destroyed because of my penchant for gambling plus a pandemic that made all my work and work useless in vain the business was lost so there was no income whatsoever and from this bitter incident I realized that too much gambling would bring misery in the future because almost all the money I had was only used for gambling so when there were economic difficulties I could not have extra money to live my family.
Now I always try to be a wise gambler and be able to master gambling and consider gambling only as a place of entertainment.

Those who are experts in gambling would tell you that you're not guaranteed a 100% success rate no matter how skilled or how well you might cliam to have studied the game even though you're a sports Analyst or well informed in a particular sports, gambling has it risks and rewards and most times the risk is greater than the reward, I'll say it's on a ratio of 60:40 that's 60% loss compared to a 40% in winnings, most people newly introduced to sports betting have had several trials yielding losses before they attain jackpot, but it varies because some people are very lucky when it comes to gambling.
Gamblers understand this even if no one tells them because experience tells them how risky gambling can be, and match analysis in sports betting is only to open up opportunities to get a win not to ensure a win.I don't know for sure what made me get involved in gambling, but of course seeing many members talk about gambling by displaying their winnings that can be very tempting for someone to get involved in gambling, even though a gambler is involved in gambling activities because it's not a problem as long as he doesn't follow blindly, my point is to keep chasing the same wins that other members get, because in every bet the results will be different.

Am sorry I don't think am one of those people that would say gambling is attractive, because there is just so much risk involved in this industry and many lives have been destroyed by it and if you aint in it the better for you as you have dodged the bullet!
But if you asked why I gamble, well I would say it's a test of my sporting knowledge, make some money and putting my money where my mouth is and of course a little fun too..
If anybody out there said they gambled 🎰 for exclusive fun then they are lying to us and shouldn't be trusted, why would anybody gamble to lose money ?? We all in it to make some profit!
But if you still insist go ahead and ask them, after that a follow up question of why they still gamble when they aren't profitable

You and I know that your buddies can't reveal this information to you because they would be chasing their losses if they considered it and it's good they didn't say it either because you would know the ugly side of gambling. I was lucky to win a very big amount in a soccer match but the day I lost all my savings I almost got a heart because the pains refused to go away.
You win some you lose some is how the gambling system is. I'm sure you have learnt your lesson now from your heart pain that you don't have to gamble all you have in the hope of winning big. Winning is not a guarantee until you see the reality of it. It is illusive until you have seen your ticket in green. Throwing all inside a bet is not advisable as you have seen and I hope you have moved passed that now with your betting.
I was attracted to gambling by passion for soccer, though I bet for fun and stake with the amount of money I can afford to lose and I was never addicted to it, once I loss my betting fund I will take a break till another time.

I thought it was a easy method to get lots of money, so I also tried it at a casino. I failed miserably and quickly realized that my friends did not tell me the whole story... namely that only some people win and that the majority of people lose their money.
My friends also gambled away a lot of their money, before they won something huge.. so that needs to be subtracted from their winnings to see what their actual profit was. (which they never revealed to me)

from what I have observed, there are lots of gamblers who try to gamble because they hear stories from their friends about big wins and some think that getting doubled money from gambling is very easy and trying to gamble after losing must have curiosity in their minds and keep trying to gamble. until he lands a big win to show off to his friends.
this situation has become a trend in many countries, even in my own country. nowadays, many people gamble because their friends brag.

The same here. In my group of friends we started playing slots when we were still underage. Typically, you go to a place and you see that one of us is playing and in the end he or someone else ends up hitting the jackpot. One of those prizes was a lot of money for someone our age that you could get for a coin.

I was attracted to the fact that I could easily make money in just a few clicks or bets, but I am also aware that in just a few clicks or bets I could also lose my money.
I started gambling when I was young and got a taste of an easy money and that is how I started playing or seeking other gambling games or forms of gambling.

Interesting, but I think the answer will be very relative. and to be honest, I don't have a proper answer to this question.
For me, gambling is not something new, because I have known gambling since I was young. yes, the exact neighborhood where I live, has never been separated from gambling even though it is based on traditional gambling. maybe this is what causes me to be interested in gambling, apart from the benefits that I can get.
Gambling is an activity that is fun, entertaining and can also give us big wins, regardless of the risk of fatigue.
well, regarding the good and bad in gambling, I'm sure it's not something foreign to those of us who like this one hobby. we often experience bad phases in gambling, which means we always lose during gambling sessions. the good experience, there is no other word but to win the jackpot when our balance is almost down to 0.
well, so I think we have a lot of experience related to gambling, both joy and sorrow. when it comes to sports betting, I often experience sizable losses. also, on the other hand, get a sizable win. moreover, in parlay betting. which in essence, everything becomes interesting because we like this one hobby.

It was just simply by the magic and beauty of starting with a small amount of money then suddenly the outcome of having a huge amount of money. In my case, when I was a kid there's a small game outside my school that many kids literally went there straight after school. Of course it's a gambling called color game which is very popular here in the Philippines. I became curious why they think it was fun to risk your small allowance? So I tried, started with small amount then shouting that "BLUEEE" since I betted at blue. The fun it gives to me was fun as it also gives you the excite and thrilling experience every round of the game. So after winning some money of course I would treat myself and come back tomorrow for me to treat again myself since I'm good at this game. 
sounds like a gambler as they are. no one said it like they are really a gambler as simple as they are attracted to gambling because they like to gamble. its often a jackpot on a slot machine that makes a newbie sit for hours until his coins are gone. that jackpot is very attractive. sooner that newbie becomes a gambler after realizing he haad lost a substantial amount and needs to get them back.

Mine was mostly trying to have some fun. Back in the days when I first met with crypto and satoshidice (first crypto gambling system) there was no online betting in my nation, there were few tries, but nothing to wildly popular and I didn't really trusted them to be fair.
So with the crypto one, I would be sitting at home and gambling instead of going out to gamble at the place physically, that was a tiring thing and rather not do that if I could. In the end I ended up with a situation where I kept on gambling more and more and had to stop eventually. Know I am much better, limiting myself and gambling responsibly just to have fun with the mindset of knowing I am not going to make a profit on the long term and should only have fun as my goal.

Your friend is too greedy because he wants big wins and uses 80% of his savings to gamble. He shouldn't have done it and remembered that gambling is not a place to make money. Actually he can also bet with small money but indeed, the winnings are also small but it's worth the risk he will accept. And if he uses big money, he also runs the risk of losing big too, where most people can't afford to take that big risk, especially if they really lose a lot of money. We have to manage our gambling and don't need to bet with big money because we always have to avoid big losses and that's the right way. And if we could think of gambling as entertainment and nothing more, we'd be fine.

I'm sorry op's friend lost 80% of savings by betting all that money on one game. Having 20% of savings is better than having no savings, and I hope that he will be able to gradually recover from this loss, as well as learn not to bet what he's not ready to lose.
I've never had big gambling losses (proportionately to my financial situation), and I don't think that the idea of winning a lot attracted me to gambling. I think my first gambling experience (unless we count gambling-like activities for kids) was playing dice. What I liked was how fast-paced it can be, how easy it was to experiment with betting strategies. But still, I was careful with my budget, and it all turned out okay.
