Ì think if internet goes down, all of the people of the world would just panic, because there facebok, instagram, tweeter, skype and other social network. They can't connect people will just scream that is not working. Bitcoin will just sit there and wait until internet come.
We'll hook up an optic fibre network that goes across the world, so we don't need internet to transfer our monies <3
In truth, bitcoin would crash, as there would be no network for bitcoin to be based on. If something like what I stated above happened, it would take just to long. And by the time it is rolled out, the world would have moved on.

If interent stops then many important things in our life will be stopped too, no websites no social media and people will have other problems, but for our community the main will be bitcoin, it will not be destroyed but will be useless.

Internet can't go down that easily with simple attack or accident. The only reasons I can think of that can cause WHOLE network to fail are: 1. EMP attack of a large scale (and that won't affect whole internet, but can affect whole country)
2. Solar Flare Effect - the most dangerous catastrophe which can happen to us (this will however turn off ALL electricity on planet Earth down).
So with with internet down I would be worried more about my life than anything else as crisis preceding this event will most likely be huge.
OP seems to be inspired by trump words when he mentioned to put down the internet but bitcoin without internet is nothing

Even I think so! If internet fails to connect not only bitcoin, all business will get affect by that then why not bitcoin system. Transaction will fail, No confirmations, No bitcoin mining and No node...

First of all it's *Chaos not cayos. And if a nuclear war happens, it will change everything, most of the humanity will die and rest have to figure out firstly how to survive because there wouldn't be anything left to buy, it will destroy everything, you'll have to search for food, water and shelter.
If the full Internet is down people will be using alcohol and cigarettes for trade.
Next year there will be satellites broadcasting the blockchain so that would likely still be going.

Just because the internet is down it would not stop the Dollar, Pound, Euro etc from being valid. Banks do have preparations in place for such a thing happening.
Yes, the price of the currencies will probably be diminished, but I can see them being used over cigarettes, alcohol etc.
But the thing is, is that you have chaos going on in the world and war happening all around us, then that would most likely mean that something isn't right with government and people will lose all "trust" in the government. Fiat is all backed on "trust" in the government, and the prices get lower if there is no more trust... it will all go back to precious metals (i.e. silver, gold, etc.). That's one of the main things that makes precious metals so valuable to people over the course of time... you can't really create nor destroy it... in this case, there is a way (very unlikely though) to destroy bitcoin, because if you take down the internet, it is rendered completely useless. Precious metals will always be what it is, even if you melt it, freeze it, throw it away or hide it; it's not going away.

Well if there's a nuclear war literally everything we know will be pushed back in priority, and our basic needs will take over every aspect of our being. We'd be focusing on getting the next unirradiated meal, finding clean or purified water, and avoiding the nuclear dust for the rest of our lives. There would be no way to operate Bitcoin if the internet goes down, plain and simple. Regardless of anything done, we will be stuck and unable to use our digital coins, unless you have physical iterations of the coins such as those holographic wallets.
Lets face it if nuclear war breaks out the last thing you'll be worrying about is wither you internet connection is working.....

There are bigger things to worry about yes, but I don't think there would be only Bitcoin affected if Internet is to go down!
Life today depends on the Internet so much that it would be nearly impossible to live it in the way that we are doing so today if we would just lose Internet, even for one day! A real chaos would happen in my opinion!
Well this is a good thread some one need to develop a technology when the internet goes down that you can still trade bitcoins.

Internet is a vast network with multiple redundancy points, and while it may get unavailable at some locations at crisis points as op describes, it's
definitely safe to say that rest of the world won't be affected in any major way. imho this thread is either trolling or created by someone who
lacks basic knowledge in technology in general.

Even if internet is available in certain locations of the world, you wouldn't be thinking about bitcoin if there was a nuclear war going on. You would just stop all the trading and whatever transactions you could make with internet. Once something happens that depends on life or death, money and bitcoin doesn't mean anything anymore. If it does still matter to some people out there, then you guys need a serious check on yourself.
agreed , money/bitcoins/gold/diamonds all become useless so bitcoins would be the least of ur problems , you cant buy food or water for currencies anyway if it comes to a nuclear war. but atleast you can use ur regular money to help start a fire so thats a plus
