I vote 40-50 percent. I vote it because I believe in bitcoin growth in the next four years will be very large. I feel the progress bitcoin, is now beginning there was some bitcoin adoption in various regions. It will be very affect the development of bitcoin so would push people to use bitcoin.

Even 1% people on Earth own bitcoin by 2020 is big step for bitcoin and it means most people already hear/know bitcoin by then.
Maybe the percentage could be higher if something crazy happens such as most big company/services (such as amazon, google and apple) accept bitcoin or economic crisis which force people to safe their money.

Actually, Its really hard to predict if how many percentage of people on earth owns bitcoins. the innovation and popularity of bitcoins cannot be stop, The continuous price increase of bitcoins are making noise, more and more people are getting interested with bitcoins. and even in the remote areas, internet are very accessible, anyone can study and can use bitcoins. By 2020 i think its about 60-70 percent of population will use bitcoins. By that time, Bitcoins are totally expose.
60-70%? How did you even come up to that number? Because people from remote areas are starting to have internet connection? 60% of 7 billion is 4.2 billion. Do you know how much people that is? We might not even be at 1 million right now. I'm sure it wouldn't multiply by 420,000% in just 5 years.

Even the most famous people in the entire world doesn't have 4.2 billion followers on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter combined.
that's too dreamy indeed. if 60% of people around the world will own bitcoin in the future it's mean that 6 person out of 10 will be using bitcoin and that must be very usual thing when paying things with bitcoin because almost in every places you will meet people who use bitcoin. even many popular fiat still under that amount

My reply is "Who knows?!"  Grin Because I really can reply on such kind of question. For me there are three cases of this. The first one is the case of bitcoin will continue to grow and get more popular and useful. In this case by 2020 year around 80-90% of people can move on using bitcoin. The second is that bitcoin will be ruined with couple of hacking attacts and people will be afraid to invest in this and it will provoke to price go down. So to 2020 year it will stay only 2% of the most strongest believers. And the third is that nothing will change too big to 2020 year and the number of users will change a little with today's number, change in positive way.
Yeah we didn't easily predict that bitcoin used 80 - 90 percent of population in Earth. We can spread bitcoin but its hard to get that population percentage that bitcoin will used.

It's hard to estimate cuz I don't even know how many percent it is today....

but I kinda wonder what the price would be if it's 100%...

100% would probably mean war on banks govs and 1 btc = 1 btc.  Everyone needs internet first.  Maybe in 20 years this could happen, it wont be pretty though.
It's going to be a war and it will not happen, government will always win as they regulate things and we abide the laws.

Some country forbid bitcoin usage since they afraid that bitcoin can be use for terorism activity or other money laundry.
I can say , there still a less than 1% / 2%. But still it's not impossible for making all people know bitcoin , if we keep shouting bitcoin power everyday , one day people will interest bitcoin more often

I think a higher percentage of people will be using Bitcoin. In reality, I believe that at the present time many people are already aware of Bitcoin, but many do not have enough incentive to use it, since there is a small number of places to spend it. But gradually things are changing, and in 2022 this will certainly be different.

I guess by that time if we continue to improve the popularity of Bitcoin, we can expect to have 60% of people to hold Bitcoin. But if the governments would produce their own cryptocurrency this would result to a great decline in Bitcoin and the number of people holding Bitcoin will drop enourmously. I do hope we reach a point where Bitcoin or a cryptocurrency would be the main payment method.
The people that would migrate from using bitcoin into using the government's cryptocurrency are those people that never actually understand the whole point of bitcoin. Bitcoin was meant to avoid the disadvantages that we get by using the government's currency, namely, fiat. The government cryptocurrency will surely have tax, something that we all don't want. The majority of bitcoin users are aware of those facts and that means there wouldn't be an enormous movement that will happen.

Also, your money in Paypal, or any digital currency in USD form can already be considered as government's cryptocurrency because it's fiat just in digital form.

I'd like to see 10-20 % but probably cant happen, we only have 2 billion on the internet i hear - dont know how that can be so low.  Probably even 1% would been a huge market cap.
And I think the majority of that 2 billion is consist of teenagers. I think half of the people can't afford the internet and some don't have any reception in their place. Some people just aren't techy and did stick with the simple call & text thing. And some other percentage of the total population is consist of people that are too old or too young for the internet, and those physically or mentally sick to use a gadget.

All of these reasons just removed the majority of the people in the planet that's why we can't have that much bitcoin users. Actually 10-20% of the population is still a very huge number and having that much bitcoin users would surely pump the market.

well 2020 is just around the corner i would say less than 2% because the world population is quite enormous
yeah if you know the total world population was about 3 billion people, it is a very large number. while total bitcoin users can be fairly small, probably only about 3 million and 4 years may be about 5 million users, it might be about 3% -5%
Good estimate, if happens it's going to be another progressive years to come. That's what we want that people will be coming in so the demand will increase.

Today, more than half of the world lives below global poverty line, and >80% live on less than $10 a day. These figures increase each year as differential gaps continue to widen.

It's difficult for me to imagine these people owning bitcoins, or substantial amounts for that matter.

Until bitcoin becomes more accessible, until the community becomes less elitist and more inclusive, until profit becomes a secondary drive, we won't see this trend reversing.

I'd say 0-2%. 1% is 74 326 630 people. When I doubt there's even 1 million bitcoiners, we'll never hit that number in less than two decades Roll Eyes...

I used to think that Bitcoin will be denied by the governments but the last news are making it look like Bitcoin is going to be a model for them: Sweden's going to have their own e-cash, Switzerland is going to accept Bitcoin in their Central Bank and already is accepting it for buying tickets.. If the things are going to keep evolving this way, Bitcoin will be probably then used by >17M people in 2020.
