Web wallet is what I use to store the bitcoin I get which I later switched to fiat. Web wallet is more practical, and in my opinion has a good level of security as well.

As it is my start and I do not have a high amount of bitcoin so I am using only a web wallet for saving what I earn from my online task completion and when I will collect a large number of bitcoin then I will use desktop wallet as I have heard that it is a very secure wallet of all.

Its better to save bitcoins in multiple wallets instead of putting them only at one place as if anything goes wrong then you will be loosing all your bitcoins at once and may be not able to recover them back again.

I am currently using blockchain.info, but according to some comments this wallet is not as good as I thought. I'm thinking of using electrum or another desktop wallet. Has anyone had experience with armory wallet?

I store the greatest part of my bitcoins in lightweight wallets on computer. This is on Ethereum to be more accurate.
I think the best way to store your coins is to diversify, like not store them in one place, I personally use three different online wallets and I split my coins on all of them that way in case I get hacked I don’t lose all my coins, and I use online wallets because I believe they are much more secure than desktop wallets or hardware wallets.

Online wallets are nowhere as secure as a hardware wallet. An investment in one is already extremely secure, and you could try a Ledger multisig setup for increased security. Most web wallets, for Coinbase are insecure because you don't have direct access to your Bitcoin, as the company holds and stores it. They can run off at any time.

A site like blockchain.info may have a slightly more secure setup, but they have access to your encrypted wallet file. If they decide one day to change the javascript on the site, you won't know that they are unlocking your payloads from right under your nose.

I am using online wallet since I am trading, so I keep my coins I am trading there (exchange wallet)  But in storing idle coins I have lightwallet on my desktop.  Quite easy to use and I do not need to download the block chain.  I used to use MultiBit wallet but since it is hard to get the private key, I changed to electrum wallet.

As a newcomer in bitcoin, i want to know about this field. can anybody suggest me which wallet will be more suitable for me, not only using purpose but also matter of security? I am eagerly waiting for your kind advice.
Would you please show me the best way regarding wallet.
Thanks in advance.

from security point of view running a full node or having a hardware wallet is the best as u control your private keys. But bot require resourses and money. If you are new and have a very little investment u can always go for web wallet

Although you are a beginner and need to start with the simplest solution regarding wallet, maybe it is best to start from the very beginning with some good desktop wallet instead online wallets which are very simple to create but regarding security they are not recommended.

You could read in this thread that most important thing is to you have full control over your private keys,so you should consider wallets that give you that possibility.Since there is many wallets you can use,I suggest you to read about some of the most popular these days.

I mostly use paper wallets to store my bitcoins because I believe they are safer. I don't trust online exchanges or web wallets with my coins.

It's similar to the hardware wallet since they could use offline and online, the only problem about the paper wallet is the chance of losing it is more higher, compare to the hardware wallet. But they are both more preferable to use since they are invisible and invulnerable to hackers, unlike the web wallets which is easily to hack because it is connected and always working only if you have an internet connection.

Why do you say that you "believe" that paper wallets are safer than the others?
They are indeed very safe, but only in case where you encrypt them very carefully.
If you do this correctly, then you are able to store your money with basically almost 0 chance that your BTC's will be taken by someone.

It is a also good precaution that you don't trust online exchanges or web wallets, the only point in using them for me is when you have access to the private key, so even when the site is suspended you can simply get all your bitcoins stashed back. I sometimes use mobile wallets, but only with a really small amount of money, when I need to make transactions from my smartphone.

Same here. Safer than all other options in the poll. Having a back would be a perfect thing to store your BTC and other crypto currencies. Except for the BTC and some altcoins which I trade will be the web wallets.

There is a thread about recomendations for the best wallet to use, but not all practice what they preach, so this poll is to see what people are actually using.
I understand that some people use multiple wallets of different kinds, so this poll asks which wallet is most used, this can be measured either by quantity of bitcoin or ammount of transactions.

if people hold not much bitcoin they usually use web wallet or exchange wallet
but if you they hold a lot they use Wallet for desktop for security and peace of mind

Yes that is my case now. Before I used webwallet only for my bitcoins but now Im using destop wallet for my bitcoins. I make it separate from each other. Right now Im using desktop and online wallets for my bitcoins.

Web-based wallets store your private keys online, on a computer controlled by someone else and connected to the Internet. Several such online services are available, and some of them link to mobile and desktop wallets, replicating your addresses between different devices that you own.

One advantage of web-based wallets is that you can access them from anywhere, regardless of which device you are using. However, they also have one major disadvantage: unless implemented correctly, they can put the organisation running the website in charge of your private keys – essentially taking your bitcoins out of your control. That’s a scary thought, especially if you begin to accrue lots of bitcoins.

Coin base, an integrated wallet/bitcoin exchange operates its online wallet worldwide. Users in the US and Europe can buy bitcoin through its exchange services.

Circle offers users worldwide the chance to store, send, receive and buy bitcoins. Currently only US citizens are able to link bank accounts to deposit funds, but credit and debit cards are also an option for users in other countries.

Blockchain also hosts a popular web-based wallet, and Strong coin offers what it calls a hybrid wallet, which lets you encrypt your private address keys before sending them to its servers – encryption is carried out in the browser.

Xapo aims to provide the convenience of an simple bitcoin wallet with the added security of a cold-storage vault.

I use only two wallets multibit and electrum and the reason for using multibit is that I like to gamble so whenever I send money from multibit it gives me the same bet that I am looking for without making any delay in confirmation as other wallets take really long time for confirming the bet.
