Nobody would love to sell their ether just because they keep looking for the best opportunity in the coming days. Once the market slightly recover, we might see a huge market volume for ether. It is just a relaxation period and investors were just resting for awhile.

In January it was 11% of the price of BTC and now is only 2.6%. of it.
ETH is still a perspective coin and 2019 should be the year of recovery and solving it`s issues with scaling.

The most promising altcoin is ethereum itself. It does not mean that ethereum is second grade coin just on the grounds that its prices are free-falling. One should keep in mind the fact that cryptocurrency is volatile and as a result, its prices go up and down from time to time. Now ethereum has decreased dramatically in prices just to rise again and come stronger.

There's a strong team and a huge community behind Ethereum.
If they are persistent enough they have all the chances to switch to PoS, implement Ethereum Sharding and add many more features to fix eth's problems.

As for other projects that are similar to eth, I'm a big fan of EOS:
- 0 fees,
- instant transactions
- max registered tps 4k
- the possibility to reverse a transaction if your funds are stolen

I think that Ethereum has a great potential. And the price will grow to it's previous maximum. If the price will go lower now, I will continue buying cheap Ethereum. Later I'll sell it at 1000$. I know that many people think that Ethereum will die in the nearest future. But I don't thick so, it's very strong blockchain with it's community.
