Biggest problem ? I have 2 big problem
First, very slow confirmation time. Sometimes it could take an hour Sad
Second, TX fees. It's only 0.0001BTC / transaction but i've done a lot of transaction & about 0.01BTC has been spend only for transaction fee

I guess confirmation time is depends on how much transaction you do it? May be a little transaction need a lot of confirmation time. I guess I never have problem with confirmation time. It takes around 15 min maximum never hit more than 15 minutes before. And about the transaction fee I think 0.0001 is low enough per transaction. Why dont you try to send more rather than deversify it. It will cost you less and the confirmation time will high enough

IMO, the security of bitcoin still need some improvement because recently I still heard about somebody still can hack bitcoin even exchanger (Bter)

...

Usually if you want to get confirmed faster, it also require more fee so it's worth for miners

For me the biggest problem with bitcoin is transaction fee.. transaction fee isn't high ??
what?!!
are you saying that transaction fees are high, or is it just a typo.
sending bitcoin is practically free. hell you can do it for free with 0 fee. but even with standard fee it is just pay $0.025

how can you find it high when it is only 0.026 cents, this is to me very cheap in comparison with visa and mastercard, and in the event that someone need to rise it to 100k satoshi to speed up the confirmation, it's still 0.2 only, we are talking about 1/5 of a dollar

i just wish there were more ways to spend it. i love how many ways there are presently to spend it, but just wish there were even more. fiat is, in general, far superior for most transactions and i hope that starts to change a few years from now.
of course it is the hope of all those who use bitcoin, all stores or sellers in the market accept pemabayaran using bitcoin, with over time they will start accepting payments with bitcoin course

yeah. idc its whatever. the websites that do accept bitcoin are winning over a shitload of business from me though bc i never would have used them otherwise.

im surprised confirmation times bug so many peeps. i guess it could be annoying but i just xfer then watch cat videos or something then its there before i know it each time.

This is some really good feedback for devs... There are some consistant themes.

For me, probably the transaction confirmation times.

... and fast transaction times  Smiley

I think transaction confirmation...

For me it is transaction times, and the inconsistency thereof.

Would be nice if there was a way to sort of 'predict' confirmation times beforehand

... we need long time to get confirmation for transaction

  • transaction confirmation time, which can take 5-15 minutes most of the time.

Well transaction time for me is still something bitcoin needs to work on.

For me , the biggest problem is duration of transaction confirmation  Tongue

I think it may be time for a PSA or a "How to speed up the time to first confirmation" thread.  There are three things you can do to speed them up
  • Increase the TX Fee offered
  • Increase the TX Fee offered
  • Increase the TX Fee offered

This is easy to do in Bitcoin-Qt when you send a transaction, but slightly more difficult to speed up on transactions you receive.  I assure the readers here, if any transaction had fees commensurate with Paypal or VISA, confirmation would be lighting fast.

I'm certainly not proposing that people start spending $0.50 per TX like paypal or VISA, but it is a simple point.  TX time varies because your transactions are competing against other transactions, and often... other transactions pay more than you (or your default wallet) are willing (or configured) to pay.

Easy enough to put a "Juice up this TX" button on a wallet app, just no one has done it yet.

Change addresses. I guess it's unsolvable, but if only there could be a bitcoin which didn't require the use of a change address with transactions (i.e., unspent funds remain in original address).

Easy to solve.  Just craft your transaction so there is no change.  Put all your change back in your own wallet.  Easy, but bad.  Recycling address is bad, for a number of reasons.  Basically, it reduces the security of that address.  The numbers are still staggeringly astronomical, but for the cryptogeeks it is cringe worthy.  As such, no self respecting cryptographer will recycle address, and all the docs say addresses are single use.

It's not easy to solve unless you have a degree in computer science. Are there any easy to understand instructions on how to craft your transaction so there is no change anywhere? I mean really basic instructions that any idiot can understand.
you don't need a degree in computer science to not use the change address!!
i have used Blockchain.info and Electrum so far as wallets.
in BC.I you simply tell with a nice interface (custom i think) from which address you send and where should the rest go, you can set it to go back into the first (sending) address.
in Electrum there is an option you can deselect in order not to use change addresses!

It's at the bottom of the Window

Change addresses. I guess it's unsolvable, but if only there could be a bitcoin which didn't require the use of a change address with transactions (i.e., unspent funds remain in original address).

That is easily solved by an option in any bitcoin client. A "clever" bitcoin client should pick the best combination of unspent outputs from one or multiple addresses and use variable fees to compensate for the extra change, like somethings paying a little bit more or a bit less fee. If that is not possible, pick a few small and the largest unspent outputs to send the coins and send change back to the same wallet.

The reason wallets don't do that is because addresses are designed not be be reused.

For me , the biggest problem is duration of transaction confirmation  Tongue
I think this should be accelerated for example 1 transaction confirmation in 1 second  Cool

An average blockrate of 1 second? Miners have no time to download mined blocks and broadcast solved blocks  Cheesy

My problem with bitcoin so far is the fear of loosing coins. I have to take so much precaution with my computer to prevent hacks, I need to check and double check addresses when I send coins, I must backup my wallet regularly, and many more worries.  Cheesy

I have been using bitcoin for a long time and I still don't feel "easy" using it. They are many pitfalls and places for human error.

The bad rep it gets from the Deep web. Most people who've heard about Bitcoin only associated it with illegal activities because of the bad reputation it's received from things like Silk road or other illegal services on the Deep web. Other than that, maybe confirmations, but that's controllable and even then, it's a trivial thing to complain about.

Despite some media thinking these stories are good... I think it is a none-issue for bitcoin.

Porn decided the winner between VHS and Beta videotapes.... And so on. Often in history porn, gambling, and crime has decided product winning concepts.

While cryptocurrency can be used to buy drugs... Dollars (or FIAT) is obviously still behind the majority of drugs. And at the end of the day it does not matter.

I am convinced the two key issues are ease of security and the confusion among the altcoins (even to the ones convinced about cryptocurrencies).

Later down the track if bitcoin is close to becoming the preferred choice for everyday shopping.. the feedback times will also be an issue.

I have such a degree... so I'll give it a shot.  I'm not at my node, so I'll have to do this off the top of my head.

1) I see your address is 1MkPr5qEaU5A7fuLx8cpqYfQSanQZptfBS
2) You can see that my address is 18MDTTiqPM8ZEo29Cig1wfGdkLNtvyorW5
3) I see that you have 8.40 mBTC
4) I propose you give me 1.0 mBTC for awesomeness
5) You hit the send button on your Bitcoin-Qt client.
6) You fill in my address as the to: 18MDTTiqPM8ZEo29Cig1wfGdkLNtvyorW5 for 1.0 mBTC
7) You fill in your address as the second recpt: 1MkPr5qEaU5A7fuLx8cpqYfQSanQZptfBS for 7.39 ( the 0.01 mBTC is for TX fee )
8.) If 8.40 is your total balance (can only see the one addr), then no change will get generated.

If your wallet has many addresses, and shows a total of 8976.54 mBTC then just change the amount going back to yourself as simply... all your money.

Here's the math (stay with me).

If you own 8976.54 mBTC in your wallet, and want to pay me (continuing theme) 1 mBTC.
  • 8976.54 - 1 (for payment to me) = 8975.54
  • 8975.54 - 0.01 (for transaction fee) = 8975.53
  • 8975.53 is what you send to yourself in the send window

I might do some screenshots, but I think this subject is getting a bit off in the weeds.

Suffice to say, post a thread "How do I send my change back to my Hot Wallet in Bitcoin-Qt (or whatever)" and you should get plenty of replies.  Easy stuff.

Sorry I use multibit and I put the wallet files for that address into deep cold storage to force myself to HODL my Bitcoins. I haven't noticed a second recpt address field in multibit so I cannot attempt your instructions. In fact I have never seen a second recpt address field in the qt for any alt coin either. Are there any normal alt coin qt wallets with second recpt address fields?
