When btc goes up, expect eth and other altcoins to also pump. Most of the time they are late in catching up btc's surge price but expect the surge of eth and ltc too. Like lastweek, eth is kinda late in bull run but it still performs price spike so qe have to be patience to become profitable.
eth may indeed be slow, but eth movements look certain with gradual improvement in eth now starting to rise and restore value. still far from expectations, but if I look at eth prices from the beginning of this year, I think the development has been very difficult.

I'm consistently putting small amounts into ETH and LTC as a kind of emergency fund that likes to grow.  When, exactly, do you guys think that the recent surge in BTC will result in a "catch up" surge in ETH and LTC?

I think they'll start catching up when bitcoin have it's new ATH.
Slowly we are seeing some increases but it's not big enough as most of us are expecting these altcoins to rise higher than their current ATH.
That's the real definition of success, Bitcoin is just so dominant so we are seeing them rise more compared to altcoins but overall the market is slowly recovering so that chance still stands, and as long as you hold, you'll definitely put yourself in the right time to sell these.

As everyone knows Bitcoin is the most strongest crypto currency of all time and it is quite impossible to beat that others suppose to be like. Eth, Bch, and other crypto currency as well could be the next to Bitcoin but not to override it because there are several assets that Bitcoin had.
Yes bitcoin was one of the strongest and popular coins in crypto but those two coins mention above etherium and LTC, Maybe they have a chance to catch up of bitcoin as we can see etherium also is have a high volume in the market so they have a chance beat bitcoin in not time.

None of them will catch up because people will always see Bitcoin as the first cryptocurrency. Some say that it will be dethroned and I disagree because it can be upgraded and no coin is recognized as much as bitcoin. Bitcoin has its own brand and it will be more profitable to keep investing in it instead of leaving it and going after another newer coin.

Both ETH and LTC don't have any features that would make them derail the bitcoin train. You'd need something much better to make it happen.

I think the question should be when is ETH or LTC going to the moon. There's no need to challenge BTC at this point because it's not doable. LTC is doing good right now, and of course there is the halving event that everyone is waiting for. In fact, it is still about 60% from its all-time-high so very doubtful that it can catch up to BTC. Same as ETH as well,  78% from its previous all-time-high. So let those coins works about getting to their all-time-high first and then see how it goes for them in the future.

At present ethereum has been able to increase also when bitcoin rises. in order to be equal in terms of altcoin prices it is certainly not possible to experience a substantial increase even thousands of percent to be equal to bitcoin
it would not be possible if ethereum prices could be equivalent to bitcoin. ethereum only has prices below bitcoin but posiisi ethereum is now below one level with bitcoin and it makes ethereum a potential coin after bitcoin.

Eth and Ltc are indeed coins that have very good prospects in the future, but don't assume too much if these two coins will have the same price as Bitcoin. need a better process and development than both. but we must know, if anything can happen in this crypto world.

It is never and in any way catch up the BTC but to follow the path of BTC. LTC and ETH are evolved much later than the BTC when the BTC price was at the peak. the concept of BTC is adopted in this coin and BTC is always act as the index for the other coin and the altcoins.
LTC may be better at growth in the market compared to ethereum. several times the LTC has started the pump, and ethereum is still waiting for their pump to occur. growth is happening I'm sure only because of the pump from bitcoin.
it caused by halving and i would not be surprised to see that and i expected the same thing will happen when ethereum gets its POS update and that will make the hardcap supply and determine how much ethereum that distributed in the network.
the same thing can happen when it gets the same update.

At present their doe snot seems to be any scope of LTC atleast to catch up with BTC. LTC even if it reaches to ETH price level will be the best thing for it as in long run does not look at that attractive price levels to move up.

Both of them are growing as well, but not the same growth as bitcoin because we all know that those are still alt coins and investors or at least majority of them are into bitcoin market So I doubt that it will catch up with bitcoin price wise, but it doesn't mean that they are a sleeper investment as well. Good if you can throw some money on them but majority should be in bitcoin, just saying.

I think the price of bitcoin has long been the king of all coins, many other cryptocurrency that follow the price movements of bitcoin, if you want to make the cryptocurrency price go up, usually the first step is to be able to increase the price of bitcoin first. and ethereum or litecoin will never be able to defeat bitcoin.

I am a strong believe in ETH altcoin though i do believe it can never  override the giant Bitcoin but i believe in ETH Capacity. From my own point of view, i believe all these ICO Organizers contributed to the decline in Eth price most especially during the bear market. After raising funds through ETH, they convert the funds into FIAT to avoid volatility that might result into lost of Investors funds. Currently BTC is taking the lead. I believe ETH also will join the suit soon.

Bitcoin will grow, and with it ETH and LTC. It remains only to wait. The whole market seems to be following Bitcoin

This is a good question and the obvious answer might be to just focus on Bitcoin for now as its gains are leading the market and are likely to improve as the halving approaches but if you want to speculate over which of these alternatives might have more potential they both represent decent potential with Ethereum possibly becoming more sort after throughout the year especially if there's more hype for futures products and its development in on schedule
As of now it's still unclear to whether those projects will be able to catch up with bitcoin or it will remain the same, it's a combinations of development and supports coming from the industry, it will dictates the fate of those projects if they'll be able to work and get bigger attentions to reach what bitcoin already achieved.
