You know how is goes with fiat when the dollar is used to value other currencies and they don't catch up Roll Eyes, that's exactly where bitcoin stands...it's the controller or highest determining crypto which makes all currencies impossible to match up to it...and it's good as the constant variables.

I'm consistently putting small amounts into ETH and LTC as a kind of emergency fund that likes to grow.  When, exactly, do you guys think that the recent surge in BTC will result in a "catch up" surge in ETH and LTC?
Of course, it has a chance since altcoins are depending on Bitcoin. Of what it happen to Bitcoin will surely altcoins will follow but it takes some time to see the effect into the market. ETH and LTC have a good market shape already and the pumps happen today will make its price to grow by then, let's wait for a few more days and see what it change.

I don't really understand how you think. If you are a newbie. I think that you also understand Bitcoin has the greatest influence on the Altcoins in the crypto. So ETH and LTC can't catch up BTC.

Really I was trying to read through some post to understand what Op meant before getting a clue from your post.

I also wonder when ETH and Ltc will catch up with the king  Grin

Price trikkles down from btc to altcoin , this is how we met it , don't know how soon it will change but we are adapting to it.

If you mean catch up the price of bitcoin or to reach over, well nope it will not happen, but ETH and LTC can pump the price at least.
I agree what you think about this. But to pursue the price of bitcoin for now it is still impossible for now. Even in the future. it's just that there is a price fix that can certainly be ETH and LTC. even all altcoins are of course

There is no good growth with ethereum and other top altcoins which showed good growth with the bull run that took place in 2017. Though the price has grown above $6300 users were much focused on the growth with ethereum and other cryptocurrencies. Most of the large whales and rich people keep hold of large number of bitcoins while majority of the common users have majority holdings in the form of altcoins. Hoping for a big growth on altcoins along with bitcoin.

NEVER!

altcoins will never catch up to bitcoin, specially altcoins that already exist and have many flaws. for example ETH has unlimited supply which is slowly starting to show its face to all the investor bag holders as ETH struggles to keep its current price above $100 and not crash hard. and LTC is a copy coin which only follows bitcoin but only so much so that its pumpability allows since people don't really "invest" in any of the altcoins but rather trader them in short term during their pumps which don't exist as long as bitcoin price is rising.

Just checked the price of ethereum and litecoin, actually these 2 coins also increasing too. Not that big like bitcoin but still a good increase.

In my opinion ethereum and litecoin will increase/catch up too, just wait and you will see the price increase, we are in bull market now.
The current bull run is really interesting so many peoples are waiting for the good hype. But they looking for ETH and LTC reaching the BTC, It is impossible to reach anyway so better they analyse properly in future investment. LTC was follow the BTC way but ETH will never follow the both way is the reality.

all certainly have the same desire to repeat back to the time of 2017. At that time the price of bitcoin reached 20k at the time of the highest price.in my prediction, if this month Bitcoin reaches a price of 7000 $, it might repeat its heyday
Possibly in the future it will exceed 2017 prices later, like others ETH, LTC also

Don't you worry, ETH and LTC are good altcoins IMO and they will follow later. The spotlight and dominance for the meanwhile is for bitcoin so expect that it will soar high but just like the old days, when bitcoin goes up, alts will just go with the flow later.

But I have no idea when ETH and LTC will catch up bitcoin's pump.

Yes, I'm expecting both of them to catch up with BTC, but it may take some time before they do so. I still think LTC should catch up sooner than ETH, but don't hold me to my word for that. There is an additional factor to consider. Soon, the litecoin block reward is due to be reduced by half. This may result in people buying LTC expecting a price increase due to the reduced supply side, which may add to the overall effect.

Edit: It seems some people interpret "catch up", which is meant in terms of pumping up the price, as "catch up" in terms of absolute price. Of course, LTC and ETH will never catch up in terms of absolute price (value) to BTC. Just to be clear.

BTC often leads a price recovery, and alts follow... so I would normally say wait until BTC starts to slow down a bit, then that is likely when alts will start to grow.
However what complicates this at the moment is there is the expectation that BTC will encounter huge resistance around $6400, which could mean that alts won't rise when BTC stops, as the whole market could be struggling to rise at that point.

If you mean catch up by marketcap or price on the coin for each coin
Well it might be quite sometime

Bitcoin itself has almost 50% of the dominance of the marketcap
Another 50% comprise of all other thousands alts

But i believe once the bitcoin hype slow down, the next ride would be for the Alts!
