When should long-held alt coins be sold? When to sell even when we are in profit? That doesn't make sense. Let me know if there is a suitable alternative to this issue.
When to sell? sell your coin if you are already happy with your profit. always do that in every trade that you do, when you feel contended sell it, this may sounds funny but ask other trader or coaches this is what they will told you. Tp when happy to avoid being greedy, and also you may see and chart first before making such decision so you will not have regrets as well. Charting is the best answer to you questions, when you will sell and how long you will hodl.
well, in general, we will sell it when the price is really suitable for us. the point is, the finances. If you feel that you have benefited from it, and it is worth the results of holding it for the long term, it is time you sell. I personally have a target for this, and I will sell when my target is reached. Like, when Ethereum was still $ 300, I would probably keep holding and collecting Ethereum until it hit $ 800. however, those higher price increases disappointed me, but that was the target I gave myself.

If you have seen that there is a huge opportunity to gain a very good amount of profit then sell your long term hodl altcoin because we cannot even say when will the market will fall knowing its volatility so always take profit.
it's a very simple strategy. but sometimes people can't handle their emotions to get more benefit. it can make them lose money. It would be better to leave if it is profitable and enter again if it is a better moment to get more assets at a lower price.

why do you still think this is a problem? you who have managed a portfolio and you also know the price when you buy, you should also know at what price you will sell it, if you already get enough profit then what are you waiting for?
buying cheap and selling high are the principles that investors and traders have

There may not be big profits, but there will still be a stable income. The main thing is to choose the right project. Yes, you can get really big income only from leading coins such as Ethereum or Bitcoin. And then only those who managed to buy on the decline in prices. Such a season as it was in 2017 can no longer be expected.

You should have a goal when to sell a coin you hold. Holding for too long will might gives you not enough result or not enough profit. It also depends on your management risks, as for me when I’m already in profit I sell to take the opportunity of the highest peak of the price. So selling at a peak price and buying when in the dip since in crypto there is always the opportunity to earn.

Having a goal and sticking to it when the time comes are two different things. When a goal is reached, greed usually comes along and you think it could go on like this. It can, of course, but at some point prices go back and mostly pretty much, so that one would have wished to have stuck to the goal. You need discipline and you have to suppress greed. Only then does setting a goal make sense.

You should fix your expectations which must not be over 20 times higher. Altcoins pump can be fixed by analysing the total supply, volume and exchange. Top exchange listed altcoins have a high chance to high pump. During bullrun single announcement is enough to return high profit. I think 5 times is enough from a single altcoins bought before bullrun.

In a bull market, this strategy will be more correct, when we pull the stop loss to the current price of the coin, while it continues to grow. Thus, we will not have such an option when we sold the coin too early, which continued to grow by hundreds of percent in the future.

old coins were sold when the price had increased significantly and the sales volume was already high. for the exchange problem I think it doesn't really matter as long as the exchange has a high trading volume it will definitely be easy to sell our altcoins

The point of investing and trading is not to break even but make money. If you're breaking even you're losing money, even if you don't see it on paper because you are wasting time and time is money.

It's up to you what profit you see as high enough. For a big investor 2% is going to be a good profit because they often invest 20 million dollars or more so that's 4 million made on 1 transaction.

There is no perfect timing on altcoin markets, the best option is to get rid of the bought alternative cryptocurrencies is a time when the whole market is green. If you hold more than it is required, the loss series will suck the whole balance one day. If you can't wait for the green market, selling at the loss is not a smart trading method. Altcoins have a higher potential on long-term investing because it is meaningless to expect a %300 return on the investment for top cryptocurrencies, especially for BTC.

buying cheap and selling high are the principles that investors and traders have
Things are not always that simple, sometimes there are things unexpected to you and that is when you have to end up with making a decision based on things that you didn't planned to begin with. Sometimes everything looks great and you buy at the "bottom" and it goes up afterwards but then afterwards there is a huge crash and price goes down more than you can imagine, and it ruins everything you planned about.

Of course this is not always common but it does happen time to time as well. Or maybe you planned on selling at a certain price but one day you wake up and the price is waaaay more than you planned? Who knows what could you happen. Basically you may have some plan about when to buy and when to sell but life can change all of your plans, maybe you or someone you love will become sick and you need to cash it out? Basically life is not always ok with your plans.

You already answered your own question, OP.
You're selling because you already earned your profit even it is just a cent.
Your only constraints would be from the profitability of the coin and how much you really need to earn/

As we all noticed the cryptocurrency cycle is 3 years. But I don't think it will be the same next time. A lot of people sell their assets during the fall of cryptocurrencies, because it is at such moments that emotions prevail most of all.

You can't be thinking that the market will fulfill your wish that holding 2 years from now you can sell your coins at a high price.

If anyone think that top alts will give huge profits in the long run, than it's ridiculous to have faith on any alts. Just look into litecoin on btc pair, it's slowly going to downward likely slow death is on the way. So, it's better to take profit from alts and shift that profits into bitcoin.

I think that was enough because it was a waste of time being a holder forever with no ROI.

It's a hard truth which everyone needs to maintain and more profits means more greed which will lead to huge losses.

Asking when to sell have no timeline, you can sell anytime if you OP that you already in profit but if you think about holding for several years, I don't t really works when you are just holding less potential altcoins. You can't be thinking that the market will fulfill your wish that holding 2 years from now you can sell your coins at a high price.

What I can say is that it matters to you and what you are holding. Take every opportunity that you see in the market, sell it once you know you are gaining.  I think that was enough because it was a waste of time being a holder forever with no ROI.

When holding altcoins we no one knows the future of the coin. How long these coins will enter the market, or how much profit will be given. Because in crypto the state can change every second. The only thing we can do is hold it until it can give us an advantage.
And one thing to keep in mind that the key to investing in crypto is perseverance and patience. By holding on to those keys I'm sure any coin will give me an advantage. It's just a matter of time.

The time is right to sell when the coins you own or invest in have increased in price from your initial capital. So, determining when is the right time depends only on your own investment. My advice is not to be greedy, if you have seen your coins go up more than the first capital, sell them immediately.

The queue is up to you, and the advice of everyone here will also help in making better measurement decisions. In my opinion of any altcoin it is likely to grow in the future too (I'm talking about legitimate projects). Through the projects I participated in the ICO and gave me the profits, I realized that the projects will reach ATH during alt season, so this time is one of the important periods for you to increase profit.
now it is true as you say is an important time to increase profits. market and prices are good, and I guess why not sell assets when prices are good. the crypto market will not be stable in its current state. look for profit in the opportunity now, and we can get another asset in the future when the market is in a correction.

well, this sure is every beginner's dilemma. don't risk it too much if it gets to your head that you would find it hard to decide what to do or whether to sell or buy. invest in a comfortable situation if you are just starting out. then gradually increase the risk and gain ratio so you can stick to your predefined goals or profits to achieve and if not able to do so, would be comfortable enough to pull out with losses and think rationally where to place your pulled out funds to gain back what you've lost and maybe get some profit. change your investing ways while it's still early. don't let hype and unproven/baseless news etc., get to you. good luck.
