I think it is good for you to buy some eth. Its price is not high so you can buy in more coisn with the same money. btc is too high and the profit will not be so good with your money. As for other coisn they are too risky now.

If you a newbies then don't buy altcoin. You should buy bitcoin or ETH, in this case buy ETH is profitable because its price will increase because the demand that created by its token.

I think, you need to learn first all the important details about crypto currencies and how to know the good project as well. By joining in different thread here in bitcointalk.org where you can find a good information and idea from different ranked. Basically, you can educated yourself by reading a lot of information specially in alternative coins section. It is better than asking " where can I invest 500 dollar ", cause there's a lot of greedy people here that can do a dirty moves to those who are ignorant in crypto business. Don't put your money in crypto now, because the market is still on downtrend much better to hold your fund and wait when the market goes up, or read some news about the crypto market to know what will happen in the next few day, so that you know youe intry point.

Well, my only advice to you is that learn the market first before you invest. A lot of good coins to buy especially with altcoins are still dump right now but if you don't know much about that coin then for sure you will lose it later on. Don't ask people where to invest, they can give you a hype coin so better to be safe.

I suggest to you put your $500 into the altcoins that have a potential to increase their prices right away, you can choose monero,litecoin and ethereum that is my candidate for my investment if i have my capital nowadays so goodluck to us.

it's better you do your own research and choose the top 20 altcoin and you have to find the right moment to buy, choose altcoin which has cheaper price and have a good future it will give you an advantage but you have to hold it in the long.
