I use blockchain.info and Multibit. for Bitcoins.
But basically all my money on the stock exchanges.
I do not see any reason to download the full blockchain.
Also installed dogecoin-qt and a bunch of purses for other coins.

I still use web wallet blockchain.info for my everyday uses, it is quick simple and has stayed safe for quite some time. I only have on there what I could afford to lose but could have had all my coin on their instead on paper and that would have remained safe until now. As long as you look after your security it is nice an safe. If something is not broke then don't try fix it so I will continue to use this wallet until I feel it is broken.

for hot wallet use blockchain.info
for cold wallet use electrum

I will be distancing myself from blockchain.info even as a hot wallet after the recent incedents with the Android app. May start using good old Bitcoin Wallet on Android for hot wallet.

Do u mean bitcoin core on android ? Does it work ?

Bitcoin Wallet by Andreas Schildbach, it's not actually Bitcoin Core (it's written using BitcoinJ, if I'm not mistaken) but it's been around a long time.

Electrum is great. Sometimes it forcecloses, but maybe this is because I use portable version.

Electrum for me. When I first learned about Bitcoin, I downloaded and attempted to use Bitcoin-Qt but having a slow Internet connection meant that the syncing process would have taken far too long (even if I had known about the option of downloading the file directly).

Not to mention my laptop was an older model from 2006 as well.

So then I chose Electrum for the reasons that others have already mentioned (i.e. no need to download the blockchain, convenience of using a memorable 12 word seed, deterministic address generation, lower resource usage, etc.).

blockchain...because....i started with that  Cheesy ( and they have a cool geeky website too with alot data Cheesy ) - it works and no problems. so ill stick with that.

I assume Blockchain.info? It's good as a first wallet or to keep your day to day funds for easy access but not sure I'd recommend it for long-term storage. Seems a bit weird you've been here since 2013 and that was your first choice and you're still with it.

For long-term storage, paper wallets and other cold storage methods are usually recommended.

As far as online wallets go, Blockchain.info is probably the best there is although I agree it's still not good enough for storing very large amounts. Unlike other online wallets, you have control over your own private keys so coins stored there are actually "yours" in the true sense of the word.

I use Bitcoin Core for my main wallet because it's the OG and I like using the original.

On my Android phone I use Bitcoin Wallet because it's lightweight and does not rely on any 3rd party nonsense.

I use Multibit because I'm too lazy to wait for the blockchain to download through bitcoin-qt.

I still use Coinbase for small amounts that I spend for different things online.   I have a trezor as well as a few other wallets.   I like trying out the different hardware wallets.

I think it's risky keeping your money on an exchange as several things could go wrong, but if you're going to keep them online why not just use blockchain.info? At least you can keep a back up off line and you control your own private keys whereas you don't on online exchanges (I'm assuming this is the case with coinbase).

I switched to Electrum. It give you the ability of really configuring your transactions. You can even set the fees, set multiple output addresses, and so on. It also generates your addresses deterministically from a seed made up from multiple english words you have to write down. Rather nifty!

Does electrum use a blockchain stored in the cloud? Does it need to download any part of the blockchain itself? I like the idea of no download, not even the headers, but I hate the idea of using a bloclchain stored by someone else.

No, lite wallets like electrum & multibit don't download the blockchain and that's what's great about them. Using bitcoincore takes too long for me.

IIRC Electrum uses some dedicated servers (anyone can run?) you might want to have a look at: https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum-server
