You can simply invest in btc but if you want to go with alts then, choose any from top alts but remember on thing try to invest in multiple top altcooins.

each altcoin has its own advantages, in my opinion than looking for something new to get x5- x 10 even more than that it will be difficult if we see so many altcoins nowadays and of course the impact on the risk becomes greater. therefore I prefer altcoins that have been on the market for more than a year and have good programs such as ADA, BNB and LTC.

Top DeFi’s are performing well and they even rise up again after the pullback, now that you have huge amount of capital I suggest that you spend some of it on your learning materials so you can know on your own where to invest and when to invest.

Why not start with bitcoin? I would suggest you to start with bitcoin as the value of Bitcoin had dipped a little bit hend ei would suggest you to buy at dip and sell when it recovers. Once you are familiar with this then step into altcoin starting with too altcoins like Ethereum and Imas per your research uniswap is a good choice as well and it had just gained over 100% in last three weeks and then dipped is s bit further
I'm personally waiting for Moonbeam to buy bags of it. Both River tokens and Glimmer ones. Depends of how that will look like, but Moonbeam is going to be a very strong project with very important use case. DYOR!

It's good for you to only invest in tokens or coins that are in the top 10 of the crypto market cap like Bitcoin and Ethereum. I see tokens or coins that are in the top 10 have much greater potential and resilience than those at the bottom.
Spread it on some good Altcoin, i suggest EOS, XLM, ETH as top coin but dont forget only buy when the price is dip. Also you can spare some of your money in undervalued coins, in my suggestion CLO(Callisto Network) could be nice, but you need to research about it first.
I’m going to advise you to buy BTC & hold until at least 2025. Many alts can give you amazing gains but you would be playing the shitcoin roulette if you throw 5k into random alts. Buy BTC & guarantee yourself profits.
Bitcoin is the first choice and always comes first, maybe you can wait for the Dip price and add Ethereum, XRP and Cardano as a portfolio, I don't know but because I think these three altcoins are very suitable for investment 
I think now is not the time to invest in Defi, it is better to buy something like polkadot or avax, or for example to collect a portfolio of several altcoins, to reduce risks
With 5k usd, you can buy a nice altcoin portfolio but you have to be careful with market volatility. Otherwise, being on wrong side can hurt you and the mistake will suck up all juice from your trading account. Buy low marketcap altcoins and forget the rest. Investing in the low marketcap altcoins can make anyone rich with right applied math and making correct predictions, it is just a guessing game. Some lose balance while others make a ton of money. Overall trading is zero-sum game.
Bitcoin had dropped a lot from the ATH that it made. You should invest half of it which I think will be helpful to you to avoid further losses if altcoins will keep on dropping. I guess Uniswap is a good coin but it's not the type that I'm buying this time.
If it is for altcoins, Ethereum will be the top choice of mine and next would be coins like LTC or BNB. I think those are somehow good coins to have although BNB just reached its ATH, it's still possible to get up which looks like depending to bitcoin's attachment and move.

you have only a chance until the bump will happen to take the cheap coins. You should go leave from the market when bumping shows it will end again.
UNI is not so promising at this moment.
It is not about which coins you will choose, but how you manage the coins you have invested. I recommend choosing top 10 coins such as BTC, ETH, DOT, BNB. come back to yourself to always do analysis before investing. the most important thing is that the right time to buy and sell your investment must be taken into account

DeFi i might say dead but not really but the hype is over, i dont see any relevance nor considerations on dealing with this thing.
Diversifying? Just choose wisely yet 5k usd isnt something small to begin with.
my advice is that you should not invest all in one coin,if you want to invest in one coin then invest in it in 2 or 3 parts.as other member said you should invest in top 10/20 coins.
