Without bitcoin every coin is a altcoin. And I think eth is the most popular and alt in this market. In marketcap now ripple crossed ethereum. But I don't take ripple as a crypto cause it's highly centralized and backed by banks. But having highest marketcap doesn't mean that that's the best altcoin. In this market there are many good projects. And some of the altcoins are really doing great. So choosing one best coin doesn't mean anything.
I think the best coin among the alternative coins are the company of ethereum or ripple because they are the popular coins in this generation and many people supports their principles.
There are so many altcoins on the crypto market nowadays but personally, the coin I will recommend for you to invest is ethereum because of it being the second valuable coin after bitcoin.
There are lot of Altcoin in market today ,but the greatest of all which l highly recommend from my personal observation is stellar , the autralia government is currently using the Stellar technology to manage their database ,IBM also uses the technology too to manage data for several places . When it comes to peer to peer transaction the network is very fast. This might have the highest gain in percentage when the bull run start in this year 2018

Ethereum traditionally remains the confident leader and king of the modern altcoins market. It offers a powerful platform for starting and developing new projects. If you wish, you can pick up other reliable altcoins - for example, NEO, Ripple and ADA.
I am a big fan of EOS. I learned about it early on in my investing days (which really isn't that long compared to some). I was really impressed with the model and the idea of delegated proof of stake. Likewise, I was also really excited about the idea of all of the airdrops that would be coming my way if I invested (none of them have really amounted to anything). I think it still has a ton of potential though. They are in the process of finishing up some of the commercial dapps and once those get on the market things might finally really take off.
I just leased out my first batch of EOS this morning using the Chintai platform. It was really easy to do and in 21 days I stand to make a little bit of a profit on the EOS that I unstaked. I am big fan of passive income so I am looking forward to seeing how the leasing platform evolves and grows.

in my opinion the best altcoin coin is still ethereum because it is still trusted and used by everyone, but in other options I also recommend EOS as the best altcoin that will be able to compete in the future
Among altscoin I think ethereum is the best altcoin because Everyday so many icos coming and they use ethereum platform and ethereum technology also good and day by day their development team developed many things. So for me ethereum is the best among altscoin.
Select only one coin is really hard because lots of coins are very strong. So I pretty sure eth,xtp,neo,iota are best coins.
Technologically, the best coins are IOTA and NEO. But the number one altcoin on the market is still Ethereum. I think till Bitcoin will remain the first crypto currency, we will not see huge altcoin pumps. But as soon as ETH will be first, all other altcoins will fly as well.

The best altcoin out there has to be ethereum, it is the coin with the biggest project and the biggest base of investors, that makes it the altcoin that is the most likely to do well in the long run which means that it is the best coin. There are other good coins but then when they are compared to ethereum, there is just no debate that ethereum is the best altcoin

there are lots of coins and even those fake coins but for me the best one is bitcoin because it has the highest value and it is fromthe first coins so these are the most reasons that i like it.
