many coins are available to investment but you should select good coin to investment, if you check coinmarket you can see there is above 1500 coins available in current cyrpto market world,everyday creating new coins and main coins are scams or project stopped,I think if you are investing in any coin better to study yourself and learn about the project, many good projects are also available,in top 100 list in coinmarket is good invest coin and some new ICO are also good to invest.
for long-term investments in altcoin I prefer to buy new coins doing ICO and new listings on the market. for long term investment I think some of these coins are very good
I believe in ETH which is the second among them and users are growing really fast and I have my faith in ETN in which I promoted and I invested my time hoping that success of this project

This is good advice, but I will add that for long-term holding diversifying is very important. But not only different ERC-20 coins. For example Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum and NEO are all good for long term.
I think that in the long run ethereum can show very good growth. This is a promising platform that is constantly evolving. Perhaps bitcoin will also be a good long-term investment because it has a limited amount. These are two coins in which you can make long-term investments with minimal risk.

I think that the best coins for long-term investment are bitcoin and Ethereum. these coins are very popular among investors. in addition, now is the best time to buy these cryptocurrencies. I am sure that the market will soon stabilize and start to grow again.
Diversify your investment portfolio into several altcoin groups. Invest a part of your capital into strong cryptocurrencies from top 20 that have already gained trust (eth, dash, litecoin, neo etc). I do not even know what to say for such a long period as 5 years in general it is impossible to analyze courses, risks, external factors. But I think in such a long term Bitcoin should be very promising, for a period of 5 years the complexity will increase, the reward will decrease means that the cost is guaranteed to go up despite any risks.

Still the best coin to invest for long term goal is BTC and ETH. BTC being the mother of all crypto and ETH being use as platform by almost all ICOs that coming in the market. You can also try FULOOS COIN soon to have a Merchant Platform wherein you can use it in paying bills.

The top 10 coins on coinmarketcap is surely a good long term investment because I think they will not easily go down to be a shitcoin as they have a big market cap and have lot of connection with the crypto industry so for sure after holding these coins will give you a good fortune in the future.
If I had invested for a long time I would only have the top coins, bitcoin, etherium, or very good ico!
