It's very hard to predict what will happen in 5-10 years, but most people seem to think that ETH, NEO, EOS are good long-term investments. Also PKT and ELEC caught my eye, but judging by the charts the former is doing good while the latter not so much. But holding long-term means not looking at the charts right?
A long term investment is usually meant for coins that is most likely to be here in a few years. PKT and ELEC may not make it that long.

Any one coin is likely to become a great LONG-TERM investment. You should see the cryptocurrency growing. The market two years ago is now completely different from the current market. If you bought any coin holding two years ago, It is now a great LONG-TERM investment.
I agree that a lot of coins from existing ones are a good long-term investment. But I do not agree with the fact that the situation is the same as two years ago, everything has changed very much. At the moment, the market has grown very much and new qualitative changes are required to grow further.Thr condition now better than 2 years ago but worse than last year condition.
We actually need to comeback to last year level again but its still not strong sign in the market recently. So long term holding will be longer than i thought. Now the top marketcap coin is the best become long term investment.
I think its bitcoin, ethereum and ltc. They already have a reputable status in the cryptomarket. Many investor are still supporting them.
Monero. It is a great altcoin and because the anonymity that is involved with bitcoin is becoming less and less by each passing day, the need for a good privacy coin will arise in the not too far future and when people start looking for such a good privacy coin, they will be looking to monero. You know what that means, with increased demand for the coin, the prices of the coin will skyrocket.
Any of the platform coins are good for the long term investment. There is a lot of hype around EOS right now, so maybe it is the time to get it before it kick off...About 1-2 weeks remains before mainnet launch.
Long term cryptocurrencies, which i also advise various others to buy, are bitcoins and ethereum and neo.

5 years is too much. So for a long time I would not have invested in any coin.
One or two years maximum. In any coin from the top 10. I think that when global growth begins, almost all coins will start to grow. But the top 10 will do it for sure.

If you want anonymous and privacy then take a look at XSPEC and deeponion. However, for any longterm holding coin then most will probably say NEO (aside from eth and btc), as it still has room to grow
yes i do agree neo have a great potential to grow and i love the project. I believe blockchain project will be really great in future, cause there will be a lot company that will using it and i think blockchain is the technology that support cryptocurrency. so i recommend you to invest on eth, tron, eos, unibright, neo, and nem which are the coin that are blockchain project.

when I decide if a coin is worth investing I mostly look if it has a potential on real life business and in which level is the team capable of doing it, whenever I used this template I mostly succeeded, so I suggest to search like this.
ny bets are on onion and NEO, Im gonna hodl them for a few long while. Got neo at $45 and its currently at $156 now, got my onions at $2 and now at $12 , stick with BTC and ETH holdings. BTX is also a good hold

there are a lot of them ,but I will name only those that I bought myself - it's ripple and Ethereum. just examine the ratings of cryptocurrency and you'll understand that it is better simply not to find. the most stable and profitable coins in the world

Companies that can create a new business model or shift in business practices, etc.
There are quite a few of them: blockchain based internet, decentralized supply lines, open sourced energy sharing, etc.
Another one to look at are security tokens.
Basically, they are tokens that represent a real world asset that can appreciate in value.
The most obvious choice would be a real estate one and there are quite a few of those.
There are also luxury goods security tokens popping up.
And the final one is a platform/infrastructure token like eth, neo, etc.
Tokens where entire economies can be built on them have huge potential.
However, I would advise you to be very careful with these because that market is totally flooded now.
Out of all of these (eos, ada, eth, neo, waves, etc.) realistically maybe 2 will come out as dominant which means a lot of them will be crushed by the dominant competition.
