You already picked the best for long term investments but I'm gonna pick my top cryptos that you mentioned which are bitcoin, ethereum, binance coin, polkadot and cardano these are top for long term investments for me.
For me, the best is long term investment if we all see the products and use-cases of a cryptocurrency so it will exist until to future. Current situation of market is hard to explain how is it going to be, maybe tomorrow will bear again, so the solid project still remain in the active development. But still do our own research.

Definitely Bitcoin and Ethereum. Not sure about other altcoins.
Since we are in the alts section of course we need to talk about the alts here. We all know Bitcoin is the king of cryptocurrency. But for the alts it is always got to be Ethereum. Closest contenders right now would be BNB and Cardano. I think other the ones mentioned here I don't think there would be anything else. Sure there are the usual suspects Litecoin, Waves, and all the ones that were still going strong in the past. But if you saw which alts were at the top then many years back, you will notice a whole lot of them are either gone or at the low rankings.
Saying it is always going to be Ethereum is a strong assertion. Binance has shown that it can get pretty close to Ethereum and right now Binance is on the very left lane at full speed. During another massive bull run it is conceivable that BSC might get very close to Ethereum in terms of market capitalization.

Nothing beats bitcoin as the best and for the altcoins, those two are now the top choice of many holders, BNB and ETH. Even the two has its competition in the smart contract.But then again, this kind of investment takes time and research.

Still, they've been loved by most projects that are building their next gen type of projects such as NFT and whatever comes next to it. You sit and hold these coins and you don't have to think how they'll perform within the next few years.
in investing, we are always required to pay attention to the price of coins on the market, indeed if we want to invest long-term the reference remains to Bitcoin and some altcoins that are in the top group at this time, but the choice remains with yourself because the ups and downs of prices are very difficult to predict, before stepping it's good to find an accurate understanding first, hopefully your investment is successful.
Choosing for the coins to invest long-term, we have to choose those who have been proven legit and worth it. Like having ETH, BNB, and BTC of course, are enough for me, accumulating more different coins aren't good rather than buying them in bulk and keep until the next Bullrun. A lot of people becoming rich with that strategy and yes, we can do this so easily if we have the right choice of coins and being patient to wait. 
All of these coins you mentioned are good for long term investment there all got backups and a strong projects as well and we all know bitcoin and ethereum being the leading cryptocurrencies, but I would like to add to the list a coin which I feel will be better and fetch alot of profit for it's investors. $Near is a rare gem which got a project which is already making waves, Near protocol is the trending blockchain with lot's of potential project being built on it's blockchain, with the rapid growth of it's ecosystem I can possibly say the token is still undervalued and this is a good time to accumulate as much as possible.

Ethereum has more stability than most altcoins, it is less prone to volatility but it also has a higher growth potential when compared to bitcoin. If i were to go with just one action to invest in and hold long term, i will choose ethereum

All the ten are good for the long-term especially the first five are best for long-term investment. You can buy Bitcoin, Ethereum, Cardano all will give good profit because all are active and strong projects. If you are worried about other coins then let them go ayou can only invest in BTC.
From the list i will pick bitcoin and BNB, because nowadays BNB especially binance smart chain used a lot in some projects and of course until future we will still need BNB BEP20 to be gas fees, but be careful because it is all about Binance reputation itself, once they get a problem maybe can really affected in their BNB.
For investment, I dare directly answer Bitcoin and Ethereum. However, if it is a long-term investment, I do not dare to give a definite answer. I think, Bitcoin (BTC) is one of the few cryptocurrencies that is safe for long term investment. Again, I can't guarantee 100%.
We don't guarantee any kind of altcoins future. We can only predict because we have experience. As OP's list of altcoins, I can't support any exchange tokens without offering us several services like Binance. From yesterday I've been thinking that we need several services, such as Binance. Binance is getting more demanding coins until it has a good competitor. bitcoin and ethereum. just these two coins and forget the other coins. maybe there are many potential altcoins besides btc and eth. but the risk is too great. if you made a wrong decision, it would be a loss. So these two coins alone were enough to make a profit.
this is be mandatory assets for cryptocurrency investors, with bitcoin or ethereum i think its not comfortable for us. these assets could recovery our loss when altcoin price drop hardly. For beginner that come to market , maybe it is best choice for them.
Talking about long term investment, I will say Bitcoin above all other coins. It's quite stable when compared to other coins. Alt coins like BNB are also good token for long term investment amongst many others. However, Bitcoin will always come first.
Bitcoin is suitable for long-term investment. As the cornerstone of cryptocurrency, Bitcoin has existed for more than ten years and has withstood the test of market and time. Although the market price is very unstable and fluctuates constantly, the price has been rising since the beginning. Because of the high benefits that Bitcoin brings to long-term holders, more new users like to invest in Bitcoin, and the demand for it increases, and its value will continue to rise.
There is no doubt that Bitcoin will be best coin in the long run like now. The next question is which altcoins will be the best for long term hold? The answer to me are- ETH, BNB, DOT, and SOL. I like to hold all of those coins as more as i can. Ethereum and BNB has already proved its importance. DOT and SOL will be the next mad horse to me.
if you look at the safest investment, I think bitcoin is an option, but if we want a bigger profit, maybe altcoins are an option. but for me I will only choose 3 assets to invest, namely btc, eth, and bnb. all three may not skyrocket like doge, but at least they are safe coins to invest and will give good profit too
You don't want to take any risk on your investment, but those altcoins have the proper time to sell. I hope you won't miss the opportunity. Top altcoins profit exists until the last bullrun although others altcoins follow them. We should take out decisions as our investment portfolio.
