If you ask which vehicle is the fastest, you will probably going to list some super and hyper cars, but if you ask which vehicle is the fastest for the warfare defense it provides, you will end up with military tanks. So to be just fast has no meaning when you are in a hostile trustless cyberwar like environment. You need to compute the time propagating the transaction in the entire network, then the time on mining queue, the time to mine, then the time to reach consensus and propagating the validations on the network again and this is just the latency calculation, them there is the calculation on the level of protection you get from mining difficult to the number of validations confirmed and even the number of blocks mined after your transaction. So if you need just fast you will find out that centralized non permissive non blockchain solutions are the fastest and them you go to a wide range of options up to bitcoin which is the safest. What you care most ?

XMR had been extremely fastest whenever I used to send them for my gambling purposes or lower fee transactions because when the fee per Bitcoin transaction was high, I always used to choose altcoins and mainly XMR because it helps process the transaction fast and with lowest fee per transaction as well as its mixing feature helps me remain completely anonymous on other hand. Its price is still cheap and so is the fee, but as of now I am using Bitcoins back because after SegWit, the fee structure has settled down way too much that I am all fine to even pay a $1 while transacting.

Interesting topic, although I read a lot of alt coin suggestion, but I think only coin with instant send feature should consider fast, such as dash.

Dash is really fast and secure. You can use dash. I prefer Dash to transfer my funds to other people.
LTC has nice speed too but after october we will see more fast coins such as Waves.

The fastest so far is Digibyte (DGB) . It is 45x faster and open source. This is one crypto to watch out. The developer is very dedicated and aggressive on promoting DGB to several companys. In the first week of Oct., there will be a new event that DGB will also join.

Just about any coin or token is faster than Bitcoin.  I think most altcoins are pretty quick with confirmations.  Some exchanges require more confirmations for certain coins so it still slows down the deposits.

i didnt try most coins but Waves is fastest coin i tried.it come so fast to me.Also i dont know why exchanges approve faster than other altcoins maybe it can be wrong:D
i think yes that is right to say that ways is the fastest currency as compare to other fiat currency, i think the transaction process is one of the fastest as compare to other crypto currencies as well as even if we compare it to bitcoin it is more faster than bitcoin transaction and i think now the popularity  of waves is therefore increasing too much.

FastCoin is quickly becoming the biggest internet sensation since Bitcoin.
Really? With a $16k marketcap?
Tusche  Cheesy

After few transactions with BTC , got sick of slow and expensive transactions.
Did not know about the fast transactions of Dash but since Dash is not supported widely , right now im using litecoin, so far - good.

NewYorkCoin (NYC) has 30-second transaction confirmations and is a fair launch, no pre-mine, proof-of-work scrypt coin since March 6, 2014.

As Bitcoin becomes slower each day in transaction confirmation time, other alternatives could prove to become useful for everyday transactions. Cryptocurrencies like Litecoin, Dogecoin, and even Ethereum have faster transaction confirmation time allowing you to send and receive coins at a hassle-free way.

Thus, among the wide variety of altcoins, many have block times which are near instantaneous. Based on these facts, which cryptocurrencies do you consider the fastest?

I would appreciate if you would list it or them here.  Smiley
When urged I used to use Dogecoin to make fast transactions.
I agree . The same as me, I often use dogecoin for each of my transactions the reason is not only a fast transaction but a cheap fee as well
as for personal used i guess i can say doge is really fast and do have a much lower fee, i use it when I'm doing some arbs between exchange as i send doge instead of btc then exchange it up to buy the alts that i'm aiming to take advantage it works for me and chances to make some good profits happen hopefully all or most of the project will act the same with doge.

I tried for arbitrage once with coins like Komodo & Sexcoin, but it takes days for these coins to transfer from one exchange to another. What do you do to become successful in arbitrage?

Ethereum classic is fastest to sending it, i have made withdrawal etc from exchangers
it was just took couples minute, it is more fast than sending bitcoins,
i think ethereum classic is suitable be currency at least right now because of
bitcoins still has block size problem that makes transaction slow.

Yeah. Ethereum Classic is a fast altcoin too, allowing anyone to send/receive transactions in a convenient way without having to wait hours or days for them to confirm. I believe that any cryptocurrency would be faster than Bitcoin nowadays, since they don't have the same user base and load as the latter.

However, the day will come when other altcoins face the same issue as Bitcoin in terms of scalability when they become widely used in the mainstream world. Take a look at Ethereum for example, where it has experienced bad network performance due to the recent ICOs.

Nevertheless, the faster a cryptocurrency is, the more transaction throughput it might be able to receive, making it easier for mainstream adoption. Up until now, the fastest alts are Bitshares, Ark, Fastcoin, and Litecoin. Just my thoughts. Grin

We really need a faster crypto currency right now because BTC became an investment, people are rarely using it for buying and stuff. Right now am using Dash as well as Steem for my important transactions. I guess those two are the fastest right now.

Perhaps we can use 1-5 factors, like speed, value, and usability to create a numeric gauge for coins.  The factors could be compiled and the data used to give the coins a score from 1-100.  Then, the people here at the forum can take over the idea, use the data to manipulate the markets and to push the coins they like and abuse the ones they don't  Grin
