What do people think? Is it better to invest, say, 100 dollars in ether or bitcoin?
If your budget is only 100 dollars then obviously you should pick ETH or may be another option from top altcoin list with good potential like TRX.
I do agree with this consider ethereum is still undervalued at this moment and he has more chance to get more profit rather than try to put his money into the bitcoin. he will get a very very small amount of bitcoin and it's not worth with the time that will be wasted by him waiting for the pump for bitcoin in the future.
I think that he must be taken the right step to make sure he will not just waste his money. It's good if he can diversify his money but it will give him less profit

Eth and bitcoin are both well-established coins thus its a good investment whatever you choose. However at this point $100 is not that huge to invest in, given the price of these coins are quite expensive at the moment. If I were you I will wait for a correction before buying a coin, its not advisable to buy at peak price but the decision is up to you. Better to analyze the situation to have an understanding on the movement of the market.

Profitability wise Bitcoin is good to invest in your $100 if you checked the market it is the most profitable coin in the market right now because it is the first coin to break its old-time record, Ethereum still has 14% to go before it breaks its old record, and if you are going to add more, Ethereum is the answer.

Right now i would search for coin that has a much lower valuation which has the potential to rally in the next few months rather than investing in bitcoin or ETH when the price is rallying at an all time high valuation. If you look at the market, the price of Polkadot
rallied a lot today and you could find some coins that have the potential that could reap you a much bigger benefit with $100.

I think they should not be compared, but now I would invest in Ethereum, because I think it can show good growth

Obviously Ethereum is better choice if you are looking to invest 100 dollars or so because from here onwards i see much higher growth potential for ethereum than btc, keep in mind that most of the eth is getting locked in defi and staking now so due to scarcity in the market the price will explode, get ready for eth moon mission soon.

100 dollars is too little at this point in the game and a great deal of that money will disappear in fees, you are handicapping yourself by investing so little but if that is all the money that you have then I think it is a better option to invest in ethereum, my reasoning is the next, FOMO still has not happened and when it does all the market will go up like nothing we have seen before not only in this market but in the whole history of the world and ethereum has a greater chance of growing more quickly under that scenario.

I don't know how you want me to evaluate how to compare btc and eth. In this market bitcoin has always had the NO.1 position, so if it comes to value it's bitcoin, but that's not all in this space. Because eth has done better in technology than bitcoin, but overall both eth and btc are great options for increasing wealth if you really want to invest in the market.

If you are having doubts or second thoughts then just divide your funds into two and invest with both Bitcoin and Ethereum because these top coins will never fail you but be sure to do some research as well so you'll have more idea about its possible movements.Things will only depend on when you're going to invest. Just be sure to buy when the price isn't too high.
Dividing the fund will cost him much as the amount is small and both coin tx fee remains high most of the time. If he have bigger amount to invest then he should give much priority to bitcion. Both btc and eth are good for long term holding. But bitcion is more reliable. Because btc is highly adopted around the world and have large number of investors. There are many more facts which keeps bitcion ahead always. For this, I think OP should go for bitcion.

Bitcoin is a smart choice IMO...
at current prices with a capital of $ 100, you will get 0.0025 BTC or 0.081 ETH. of these two coins of course the most volatile one is Bitcoin so for long-term investment, Bitcoin is very likely to give more profit to you from your $ 100 capital.

None if you use the term "invest." A 2x return will only give you $200. Considering it's difficult (currently) for both prices to double, it's a waste of time. Buy bags of tobacco, paper, rolling tools, and sell your hand made cigarettes for a few bucks. You probably would get $200 in a shorter time.

Passive investment is when you don't have the time to actively manage your business, perhaps you already have lots of businesses, or work full-time as an employee.

If 100$ is all you have to spare or can afford to take risks with then invest that money on bitcoin, presently bitcoin brings the highest ROI than any other coins I know, Ethereum is just catching up as the second best, if you know your way around buying low and selling high you will double that money in short time

It depends on the risk you are willing to take.
Ethereum has a much higher chance of jumping several folds in value.
But it is also easier for it to lose value.

When it comes to Bitcoin, its way harder to rocket up in price.
That is when you look at it normally.. Right now we are on an insane bullrun.

Personally, I would put my money on Ethereum Smiley

Both are best tokens. You can invest in both.
If wanna reduce risk invest half in each token.
So that you can make some profit.
But choice is yours you can invest in Both half each. Or in a single coin.

Bitcoin and Ethereum are very good choices for investment, but if I personally prefer to invest in Ethereum for now, because the price of Ethereum has not yet reached its ATH price, so I'm sure the price of Ethereum will definitely reach its ATH price soon, therefore I recommend you to invest in Ethereum, because if the price of Ethereum has reached its ATH price, then you will definitely get profit from investing in Ethereum.

If its a small amount like 100$ better to invest in Bitvoincash or Litecoin as they are more scalable and if you are going to invest big you should have both ETH and BTC as bitcoin  is the leader of Crypto and ETH is more advanced as the thienlonghue mentioned.
smart-contract platform and ERC20 will be better
No matter how small your capital is, its always better to invest in bitcoin than its clone coins because look at the growth of bitcoin cash and bitcoin, you only can see the fall of bitcoin cash since it was forked so how can you call it as investment when the value is keep depreciating.

I will still say bitcoin is better to invest than ethereum because if we analyze the growth percentage of bitcoin and ethereum in 2020 then bitcoin almost got 1000% or more while ethereum a bit lesser than bitcoin.

It should be BTC. There is no other fair blockchain than BTC now that we can be assure that there is a way for transaction fee to be lesser compare to what you can do with ETH.

Sorry for ETH supporter, I do have eth as well. But its platform is just not making everyone get to have a chance. Only allowing users with 32ETH to participate in staking, seem to be like the richer gets more richer system.
