There are lots of good coins to invest this year. Like ETH, EOS, NEO, Stellar, Waves, and ADA. It's just that it takes longer if you want to harvest it. For now, i can not categorically say now because there has been ups and down in the crypto market this year. By end of the year many old coin will emerge strong  and few new once too.

Stellar has far outperformed most alts during this bear market, even though it doesn't seem to rise and fall with them. People seem to see it as a safe haven (for now).

Depends on the investment. For them better than Bitcoin, for market activity certainly better than Ethereum. Ethereum is a dynamic coin, and develops faster than Bitcoin. This is my personal opinion.
