For me i think lots of coin which are big competitors of eth, but still i believed that ethereum would be second great coin in the market. Hoping that i would continue to rise its value and will be stronger in the future like bitcoin did.
As a competing consensus mechanism - NEO.
As a level of adoption coming close are NEO and WAVES.
As architecture, Cardano, EOS.

Currently it is NEO as some people started releasing tokens on neo chain. But I don't think its biggest in any means. I think biggest competitor will be eos, next year. They are coming strong and big. Wait some more.
Eth's competitors are those altcoins that is also a top ranking coins in coinmarketcap.
Ethereum is none other than best coin among altcoins and this is why it has a large market competition. Many other developing coins are having in a good competition with altcoin. Ethereum is even competing for being the best coin among all present crypto currencies. It has been strictly following the footsteps of bitcoin. There is no doubt that ethereum has developed many rivals in few couple of months. Waves and litecoin are among the rivals.
I personally HODL ETH as I view it as the top blockchain in terms of what ICO's and projects use. If your opinion(s) out there, who do you think are their biggest competitors in terms of ICO's and blockchain projects?
I have heard that NEO is one of them but I'm curious to know who else could challenge them in that regard.

I think that NEO is the second altcoin on the market after Ethereum. Neo is known as “Chinese Ethereum ”. And I understand why. This cryptocurrency has really improved technology and strong team of developers.
some great movement and allowing investors being attracted to this current rise, Chinese traders and investors will create hypes each time they support
certain project, so if they continue supporting NEO then we will see that it can compete in terms of value and also the usage of this platform.

I can mention Waves because this coin has the same platform as Ethereum. Although the price is still cheap and more expensive ETH, but I am sure that one day Waves will become a competitor Ethereum.

Surely NEO would be the best competitor of ETH because these two platforms are both offering smartcontracts and decentralized applications,chinese ethereum NEO has a better technology than ethereum that is why more and more developers are using neo platform for their new projects,the NEX are coming to which is a decentralized exchange based on NEO,that is why NEO is getting more massive this year. Ethereum is seen as a rival because NEO has Asian market behind it. But NEO does not have a CEO like Vitalik Buterin. 
So I do not think it's something to be scared of.

Biggest competitor long term? I don't see any. Eth might one day take the #1 spot from btc, but that's far into the future. Biggest competitor short term, maybe in terms of growth and better gains in 2018 and 2019 would probably be Neo. But long term, I would hodl eth.

Ripple is ETH's biggest competitors for me.
I think Ripple can beat ETH in the future, but maybe 1-2 years later.
NEO is quite good too, but to be said as ETH's biggest competitor i think NEO is the second competitor for ETH.
of course there are many who have the potential to become a competitor of ethereum. one of them yes indeed NEO has a great potential to be a competitor ethereum. no doubt this NEO coin has almost the same with ethereum. he can stand alone. and currently there are several ICO based on NEO. therefore NEO became the first candidate as a competitor of ethereum.
Ethereum is wonderful project, but has couple of competitors. Among them NEO is the strongest and this is the one that can hurt Ethereum, in my opinion.
Besides NEO, I personally think Waves could be a worthy competitor after the smart contracts are implemented. Waves has a strong team and have been marketing it's project very well. The Waves DEX is also nice because it eliminates the fear of losing tokens on centralized exchanges if they get hacked.
Yeah, I agree. Waves can be an important competitor when it gets its smart contracts. It will get more ICOs and will get much more big and important than it is now.Also, I think stratis and NEM are worthy of being called ETH competitors too.
Yup, Neo competes with ETH but also XEM, EOS and ICX. Last two are new cryptocurrencies that can with active development become strong competitors
HI, WAVES is a good competitor, NEO but everybody knwos this already I wish i had some, and BNT is supposed to be a competitor to ETH, i wish all of them success
It is indeed NEO,this platform which offers smartcontracts and d-apps has a lot better than the old ethereum's platform.NEP5 technology will surely surpass the ERC20 based tokens in the near future because most of the new developers are starting to use NEO as their main platform because these people wants are more future proof technology for their new porjects,this is why NEO is being called as the chinese ETH.

I think NEO will give tough time to ETH
and my second best after neo is MYWISH

For a long term hold there are no rivals. Ethereum is on the top of any list as for me. This coin/platform is gonna have great future.
No rivals with no other coins? Don't make me laugh, Litcoin can be a rival to Ethereum. All Litecoin needs is the marketing.Litecoin does not provide ICOs, but is more similar to the other first-generation coins like Bitcoin or BCash, etc.
