In my opinion, investing in Bitcoin undoubtedly involves buying Bitcoin, but buying Bitcoin doesn't necessarily mean someone is investing.

Investing, in my view, is the act of purchasing something with the intention of increasing wealth by selling goods or services at a higher price than the purchase cost, whether through active management or not.

Thus, those who invest in Bitcoin are those who identify themselves as short-term Bitcoin traders or long-term Bitcoin investors. Their goal is the same: to profit from trading Bitcoin. However, the difference lies in their timing of selling.

When someone has a particular wallet which he spends Bitcoins from can he be considered a Bitcoin investor?
Or does the term investor refer only to those who hodl Bitcoin?
Basically an investor is someone who has bought or invested money in a particular company or business. So when referring to bitcoin, of course it's the same.
So if you look at the basics of investment, someone who has bought bitcoin means that person can be said to be a bitcoin investor.

So even if the person spends bitcoins in any way. Basically this person can still be said to be a bitcoin investor. But maybe if it is directly spent or sold immediately, it means that the person only invested briefly in the bitcoin. Because you need to know, investors in bitcoin have several ways to make a profit. Some invest in the short term, there are also those who invest in the medium term, and there are also those who invest in the long term.

So the point is that bitcoin investors are not measured by the length of time they have held the asset (bitcoin), but the point is that if the person has bought bitcoin, it means that person is legally a bitcoin investor.
So the question the OP made was just a matter of the difference in selling bitcoins. One can be said to be a bitcoin investor who invests in the short term and the second is a bitcoin investor who invests in the long term.

I don't completely agree with what you said, many people only use bitcoin as a payment method, they have no intention of making a profit from it, how can they be called investors? Buying bitcoin with fiat is a must because it is not yet a popular currency like fiat, and if they only convert enough bitcoin to pay then they cannot be called investors.

Don't forget that Satoshi created bitcoin for the purpose of being a peer-to-peer payment method, he did not create bitcoin for speculative purposes. So depending on the purpose of use, we can know who is the user and who is the investor.

I think from the common man's definition,  anyone who has a fraction of bitcoin  ought to be regarded as an investor because you already bought and invested  in bitcoin  regardless of how much and how long you hodl.
But on the real sense, people who hold for a much longer time are the real investors as there are several classes of bitcoiners which include both the day traders, long term holders as well as the scalpers but regardless of whatever class we call in, I think they're  all investors.

When someone has a particular wallet which he spends Bitcoins from can he be considered a Bitcoin investor?
Or does the term investor refer only to those who hodl Bitcoin?
The word investor is anyone who does business in the Bitcoin space to achieve a goal which can be monetary or non-monetary. Somebody can invest time, skills, or money in Bitcoin and the reward he is expecting can be in the form of money or other intangible reward. People who do bitcoin awareness and education voluntarily can be said to be investors. They might not be expecting money but he expects his students or audience to learn about Bitcoin and become believers. The joy of a bitcoin volunteer is the natural sense of accomplishment.

Now investors can put in money with the main of making profit within a short, medium, or long period. Some traders target daily profits and others within days or months but bitcoin Hodlers can keep the currency for years or even decades. Bitcoin hodlers are generally referred to as real investors.

Well my own contributions and understanding on your question is that.
Anyone that has bitcoin in the wallet can be called a trader, some may not see their self as a trader because they are not watching the market or reading news about bitcoin, meanwhile bitcoin normally goes up and down and it effect everyone that has bitcoin in the wallets anytime bitcoin makes moves.

At this point you are also a trader but you may not know or consider to be a trader, the only people that that consider to be a trader is those ones that watch the market and know when to buy and sell.

Well my answer goes like this. Anyone that has bitcoin in the wallets is a trader period.

My understanding is that a Bitcoin investor is someone who holds Bitcoin for an extended period of time with the intention of profiting, whether it is for a lengthy or brief period of time. The investor is an investor if the only goal is financial gain. Everyone has reasons for holding cryptocurrencies, and I believe that the majority of people who have Bitcoin in their wallets are holding for the sake of making profits.

holding Bitcoin in wallet without investing or trading it, doesn't make someone an investor. you will only called an investor when you are trading on your Bitcoin and making profits.

When one commits money or capital all for the sake of making financial gain/profit, such a one is considered an investor. In the case where the financial commitment is done with cryptocurrency, or in this case BTC, the person can be called a Bitcoin investor.
A Bitcoin or crypto trader is an investor as well as anyone who HODLs BTC short or long term. Also committing an ample amount of time to a potential profit venture, is an investment too.
The aim of an investor is to make more gain or double their capital and it really does matter alot  the strategy or kind of venture one intends to invest in.

When someone has a particular wallet which he spends Bitcoins from can he be considered a Bitcoin investor?
Or does the term investor refer only to those who hodl Bitcoin?
The term bitcoin investment basically refers to people who buy and hold bitcoins. You cannot become an investor just by using bitcoins, becoming an investor requires high skill and experience. For example, if a person trades Bitcoin daily and holds it for a long time or holds it for a short period of time, they can be called an investor. And if you invest your money in bitcoins, then you are definitely an investor too.
In simple words we can say that those who wait for profit by investing in Bitcoin or those who buy Bitcoin with the intention of profit are called Bitcoin investors. In this case, it is not just about doing the transaction. Here there can be profit or loss in investment. When you gain or lose by purchasing, both will be marked as investment. Generally we consider who invest in bitcoin for a long time. Someone can asked, can I be an investor if I can make a small profit by selling bitcoins on the same day I bought them? I think he is also an investor because he invested for earning money. Generally Bitcoin investors are those who invest with the intention of making profit by buying and selling Bitcoins.

A Bitcoin investor can vary in terms of background, motivations, and investment strategies and they usually fall under these range ;

1. Early Adopters: Individuals who recognized Bitcoin's potential early on and acquired Bitcoin when it had a relatively low value. Many early adopters are technology enthusiasts who were intrigued by the concept of a decentralized digital currency.

2. Speculators: Some investors are attracted to Bitcoin's price volatility and potential for high returns. They actively trade Bitcoin, trying to profit from short-term price movements. Speculators aim to buy low and sell high, taking advantage of market fluctuations.

3. Long-term Investors: These investors have a belief in the long-term value and potential of Bitcoin. They tend to hold Bitcoin as a long-term investment, often motivated by the idea that its limited supply and growing adoption may drive up its value over time.

4. Institutional Investors: As Bitcoin has gained prominence and regulatory clarity has improved, various institutional investors such as hedge funds, asset management firms, and even publicly traded companies have started exploring investments in Bitcoin. Their motivations can range from diversification of their portfolios to hedging against inflation and economic uncertainties.

5. Individuals in Regions with Economic Instability: In countries experiencing political or economic instability, some people turn to Bitcoin as a way to protect their wealth from potential devaluation of their national currency, capital controls, or restrictions placed on traditional banking systems.

It's important to note that these categories can overlap, and individual investors may have different combinations of motivations and strategies. Each investor's approach to Bitcoin can differ based on their risk tolerance, investment goals, and understanding of the cryptocurrency market.

That's right no one using bitcoin is an investor who holds bitcoin for the long term and stays in one place despite the ups and downs of the market, they are usually professionals. Knowledge about investment and crypto market is high real investors use them not only to earn money but also as an option in trading or investing. They usually want to grow the investment year after year using bitcoin to give you a high return on your capital.

I don't think there is anyone who spends bitcoin as soon as they buy it. Maybe in the case of having received it as a payment for something it could be, but  normally, even if you tend to spend it, you will hold on to it for a while, so you can be considered an investor, especially if you expect to make a profit from it.

For me, an investor is above all someone who acquires an asset hoping to make a profit from it, holding it for a certain period of time, but above all who knows the asset he is buying and the market well. That for me is the difference between an investor and a gambler

So I would say as long as you are waiting for a return, but if you're just spending it, then you can't be called an investor, unless you say that you will wait a few more days or weeks to see if the price of Bitcoin goes up before you convert it or use it, which can be called holding.

I think everyone who has or still holds bitcoin can be called a bitcoin investor. As with investing in other instruments, such as the stock market or gold, investors can enter and exit at any time. And that's not a problem because everyone wants to profit from bitcoin price movements. We must be careful in determining when we need to buy bitcoin and hold it and when we sell bitcoin.

But if I have a lot of money, I want to hold some of my assets in bitcoins for a long time and some to trade in bitcoins (daily or weekly trading - scalping)

But for those who are using bitcoin as currency and payment method, they don't care about bitcoin profits then they cannot be called investors. Bitcoin is so volatile that it can be profitable even if many people do not use it to make a profit. But that doesn't mean they are also considered bitcoin investors.

To me, those who are intending to find ways to profit from bitcoin are called investors. We cannot equate people as investors just because they own bitcoin but have no intention of making money from it.

For me being an investor means that your primary end is making money out of something, no matter what. If you just use something than you're a user. If you buy an iPhone you're not an investor because you use the product but if you buy the stock than you're an investor. If you buy and hold bitcoin you can be an investor, if you just need bitcoin to send money (which is its goal by the way) you're a user.

Indeed, in terms of investing in BTC, many people tend to hold it for a long time, which is what is called an investor, but in this case of course there are many different opinions, but in my opinion, investing in short-term BTC is also not a problem, such as 3 days or 5 days. It is important that there are benefits to be gained.

but your opinion is really good too and very easy to understand.

Thats actually correct but most of the so called investor are always tempering with their holdings and some of the reasons for this is because of the lack of understanding and knowledge of actually investing or maybe they rely on their investment for lively hood and this can make an investor lose focus and scatter his whole plan of investing because he doesn't have means where other funds are coming from

Even from the definition of what is said about being investor, --- “An investor is a person who allocates financial capital with the expectation of a future return or to gain an advantage.”

So I guess it's someone that HODLs, because they always have the expectations of a future return and not in a hurry of spending. And these people also invest huge amount, and not just money for coffee ☕
