That would likely happen as people will compare how they are in the time of Trump vs the time they are in Biden.  Surely they can tell the difference since Trump had not made the prices of stuff go up the roof. More crises got worse in Biden's time making the voters hate. And this hate means no vote for him.

Desantis seem no match in terms of popularity.
Luckily Biden seems to be useful for both parties and not yet thrown him under the bus unlike Andrew Cuomo who could have been a better presidentiable but in a snap, all his dreams crumbled.

Economy was in much better state when Trump was the president. Inflation was under control, gas prices were affordable and jobs were being created. The only reason why Trump lost 2020 POTUS was due to his improper handling of the COVID19 crisis. Media used it against him, and that swung a lot of votes against him. The first thing Biden did when he became the president was to cancel one of the major oil pipeline projects and to impose more regulations on American shale oil producers. And quite predictably, the inflation rate shot up as a result of that.
I agree, with you since Trump is actually a  businessman before he become a president I am sure he can control those things but then just like what you said he has an issue regarding the crisis which made a large impact in his second turn. But if there's only two candidate for now and I am living in America I will choose Trump over biden .

It is not a good reason to vote for a president and that is USA's trouble. No matter who wins this election, it is going to be because they will be hated more than the other guy. Trump may win because there will be 3.5+ year difference since he was last president and people may forget what he was like and that is the important thing. If you give him just 1 year as president, people want to change him too, and same happened with Biden as well.

You just need to realize that is not a good enough reason to pick someone, just because you hate the other. They need better candidates, not Trump, not Biden, pick someone people will vote because they want that person to be president, not because they don't want the other candidate to be president, that makes the nation just go worse and worse.

LOL.. the presidential debate would be quite entertaining. And Biden can't rely on the teleprompter. Trump is going to destroy him outright (given he wins the GOP presidential nomination). Biden is already trailing in most of the opinion polls. The latest polls from Rasmussen Reports measured his net disapproval at 14 points. Any blunder during the debates will sink him to a point beyond redemption. But that said, we still have one and half years to go for POTUS election of 2024. A lot of things can happen in these 18 months.

BTW, American Greatness released an opinion poll for Republican nomination for the state of Florida. Trump is leading with 42 points, compared to 34 for DeSantis. If DeSantis can't even win his home state, then I don't think that he stands a chance elsewhere.

I think Trump will end up being the candidate, but I'm not sure who will win the presidential vote.

It's going to be a close call I think, but in any case Biden and Trump are both really old to be the president, they are around 80 years old, that's a lot.

But I don't think there's any other alternative

I don't understand this love for Trump at all, makes no sense to me. As we all know Trump could go out all by himself, no questions, no debate, just him, and he would still lose votes when he does that, that is exactly what happened when he was the president.

When he got elected, that was a lot of people not wanting to vote for Hillary, that was the main reason, people who would normally vote for the democrat candidate, didn't went out to vote for Hillary. After Trump got elected, people saw their mistake and a record breaking number of people voted for Biden, you think that was because Biden was good? Of course Biden is not good, of course he can't put two sentences back to back that makes sense, he sucks, but people hate Trump more than they like Biden, that's the key. How could someone not see that?

Ever since 2016, a majority of voters in the POTUS elections have voted for a candidate not because they like him or his policies, but because they oppose and hate the opposing candidate. Happened with Trump in 2016. He won because there was a massive wave against Hillary. And in 2020, Trump was at the receiving end. There was a massive wave against him, and this enabled Biden to win. And in 2024, once again it is going to be the same. Biden has record disapproval ratings as of now, and if Trump participates in the election, then a lot of voters will chose him just because they hate Biden.

About the US Presidential choices - alot has happened in the recent government.... Taxes had increased and remained at Thier peaks - maybe for a little adjustments but that isn't normal at all. I believe the Masses will have to be careful on their next choice of franchise.

If there is something I have learnt, Sandra. It is that American politics are not what once it was. Now with  the entrance of Dobald Trump, we are seeing so many unprecedented things happening, one of them is the leading Republican candidate being someone going through so many investigations.

It is something telling on the political priorities of the American people. Also, I agree that Campaigns in the United States are longer than in any other country I can think of. It must have something to do with the donors money, candidates need more time to stockpile cash from supporters.  Tongue

It's not even time yet....we've still got time so I wasn't expecting this now. Smiley
...and there's a certain perplexity that leaves me on a level of indicision --that which I can't even think of feigning at all... It goes this way - is it wise at all to have the governs political affairs on air for open wagering?? Won't that also mean that the governs are indirectly igniting what they've still got to take a whole decade fighting against?? Of what sense is that? Or the governs are not in support of this at all???

Did you know that candidates will need to have a debate right in front of the public to see how sane they are?

Once Joe gets up there, I don't think his secretary or his nurse could ever rescue him from being bombarded by what Trump could say. Just what Biden's administration did from Hunter's laptop, the border crisis, and the Russia-Ukraine war down to the debt crisis this time.
None may ever come to rescue him from mumbling all over the place telling stories of his hairy legs.

I doubt people will still reelect Biden after all the things he did in this first term. He'd be 90+ afaik, as he will just be sitting in the wheelchair by then. We have seen him fell many times as he climbs up the plane stairs. Trump will win. There is no other candidate who can make the US work together than Trump. Even Elon tweeted Trump will win this time around.

Well I would not be too sure about him not being voted in just because of his age. He was already an old man when he got voted in the first time. Why would that mean it cannot happen a second time? Trumps reelection is a bit unstable because he would try to undo everything Biden has done in relation to the war of Russia and Ukraine. Most people might see that as "being in too deep" to turn around and walk back.

Elon has been tweeting nothing but idiocy, so I would not take his tweets seriously. Obviously not as a standard of measurement.

Trump is slowly gaining traction and a little bit of a lead against Sleepy Joe. I would agree, Elon has been saying nothing but nonsense lately and he's lost all his internet cred from all the stupid things he did prior to this, With no one ever stepping up to challenge Trump for the position, I think this means a solid win for the Trump party. An upheaval is long overdue, Biden has taken a lot of his promises back, especially in the environment sector with the project willow becoming more and more real. So I think despite the fact that the chaotic undo that will ensue when Trump rules again, He still shows promise, the more Biden proves that he's not capable of running for presidency. All he has to do by now is to just literally watch Biden make fun of himself, and he'll land the role as long as no one capable steps against him.

well, trump is sinking when he goes on interviews, of course his supporters are a kind of unconditional supporters in every wrong thing he says or does he doesn't lose support from his loyal supporters, but the problem is that he gets a bad image before the to the international community, he seems to be pro-Russian and this is something that could make him lose again against Biden, Biden has a great advantage when it comes to knowing how to position himself in relation to international politics, being pro-Putin is not an idea smart, but trump doesn't seem to understand that, he avoids criticizing putin, there's also a situation in mexico where he said he concluded the punch in the interview he gave on cnn

something that was widely seen as a lie, many things he said in the interview were seen as a lie, if he continues like this then he will lose the election if he runs against biden, in my opinion in an election between biden and trump, I think the best option for the world will biden win as president and kamala as vice president, a trump victory would be a big problem for the world, I don't know if in economic terms it would be good or not for americans, but in terms of foreign policy it would not be not good to have trump back as president

I stand with Ukraine.

The president in the end is way more than one person.
~

This is true, but only if he/she is not a dictator. Since we are talking the USA elections here, it's true, the president has a team, and this is what actually counts. A team of professionals that supports the president will make things work properly. A wise person can get a team of wise advisors, he/she doesn't need to know everything, the team will help. Voters know it, and they will elect someone with a better team.

I think it is going to be something that would be easy to handle when the elections come. I mean if there is a situation where Trump can't become the nominee, unless it is the last 24 hours or something, republicans will have time to show someone else for their nominee as well, and that may even work out better because it could get both people who like Trump out to vote for that person and republicans who do not think kindly and maybe stay at home for Trump go out and vote for the new person as well.

This is why I keep saying that Trump getting out himself or losing the nomination would not be ok, but him being prevented to be nominee would give the republican party guarantee to win the election and would be the best thing for them.
I think the best thing to do right now is the fact that we are going to end up with something like Trump vs Biden, we already know that but there is going to be something underlying that more than any other election ever again. We are still not sure who Trump will use as their running mate, it could be Pence again but I doubt that he will want that anymore, and he didn't officially claimed who it will be neither.

Pence already sold out Trump and we all know that they are not friendly anymore and Trump will want someone a bit more mediocre because he already got the votes from the further right wing. Biden on the other hand will probably continue with Kamala anyway. This matters because for the first time ever, people wonder who VP will be because that person may end up running the nation.

Joe Biden is already officially running, perhaps you missed his announcement.
Also, one of the strong points about Trump is that he is a natural negotiator, he managed to prove it while dealing with Mexican diplomacy (according to him) and also trying to deal the the leader of North Korea, but it would take him more than being a good negotiator to stop the invasion against Ukraine. Putin would likely ask for concessions and perhaps part of the captured territory to be officially recognized as part of Russia. I do not know what Trump would do in that case.

The Ukrainian government would not accept such terms.

The Ukrainian government will accept whatever their masters tell them. But I don't think that there will be any ceasefire attempts before the "spring offensive". Ukraine claims that they have readied an army of more than 1 million people, and in a few months they will be able to retake all the lost territory (including the Crimean peninsula). There will be no settlement before everyone gets to know who gets the upper hand in this offensive. If Russia manages to hold off the offensive, then in all probability they will get the occupied areas as a concession. If that doesn't happen, then the settlement will be done as per the terms of the NATO.

It is not about the Ukrainian government being intentionally submissive towards the will of the United States and the European Union, but it is rather a question of them not having the military equipment and the resources to defend their own country (which was unprovokedly invaded) in that sense, they are supposed to keep in mind what the benefactors propose to them. It is like a business, in that sense, they may be obliged to remember they are being supported.

On the other hand, the offensive you mention could imply some influence over the political weather in the United States, if it fails Trump will further call for negotiations to prevent escalation, otherwise Biden will celebrate the victory to boost his campaign.

That will be a hard part for Putin to take. He is not the kind that will just accept what NATO is saying. As long as Putin has the back of China, this will be settled in a war between China vs the US also. This has been preprogrammed when you see the news all over the world despite China brokering the peace negotiation, NATO says no and gives no solution.

The next election might not even happen, election days could become a 3rd world country chaos since Trump is being stamped out. He has the upper hand but he will be subdued and may cause divide.
