If I were to develop a token just to beat bitcoins and ethereum, I would develop the fastest and the cheapest (possibly 0 in transaction fee) token that can beat both bitcoins and ethereum. I will develop a token worth being a platform or a base token to develop new tokens on.
Crypto world doesn't work that easily and theres so many things need to be considered before you release a finished coin.

I think both eth and btc are the foremost and popular coins, I believe that other coins will be hard to beat both coins .., btc and eth.
Both of these coins are very strong, so there seems to be no new coin king for now. BTC still there hearts its users and it will remain the first coin present, ETH is a pretty good traffic and many users.

I think you did not read the Thread Topic , it is asking who will be the new King as everyone knows that BITCOIN is the king but OP is asking who can beat BTC. In the near future their is no one who can beat BTC ya but after 1 or 2 yrs cannot say as their are some coins who are emerging high and their success rate is also high. I have been thinking about this question for quite a long time, and I am now ready to give a concrete answer to this question. I don't think that in the near future any of the coins will be able to surpass Bitcoin and come out on top. I think Bitcoin will further strengthen its position this autumn.
I think that after btc and ether we can talk about such coins like NEO and Dash some say Ripple can also increse in price but i can't see potential in it, at least now , maybe everything will change soon and we will see in the future
To think that this year Bitcoin will be replaced is to early to think of, i believe bitcoin is not yet even on half of it's way. It's to early to judge and say things right now but i agree on the point that someday bitcoin will be replaced as the top coin but i believe it's not this year. 5 or 10 years maybe i think it's feasible to say but for the 2018-19 run nahhhh i don't think so.

BTC-ETH pairing is the most higher volume in trading and I don't think that this will end-up easily. I do not know if anyone deserves to replace bitcoin, the new king must have the ability that exceeds bitcoin, that is the most important requirement. and it will be difficult.
