I can't say though, but I think ETH is the only coin capable of beating BTC in the near future, but for now, BTC still remains king.
Now the mainstream currency, BTC-ETH, has the upper hand, and they have the strength and technology, but the future is likely to be a new project to replace them more mature and more comprehensive. What do you think it would be?
I do not think anyone will be the new king because now the price of Bitcoin will soon come back even though now the price of altcoin and bitcoin has decreased as I know now crypto market prices have recovered then from now on it is possible in the near future this price bitcoin will return
This is not going to be a problem when big capitals and financial institutions comes in the market .There is space for all cryptocurrencies. Some will grow faster than other. It is important to be in the right project
In the OP it's been clearly mentioned that bitcoin and ethereum has the upper hands over the entire cryptocurrency network. Till date different projects emerge on unique platform, but it all depends over the upper hands with which it gets reconfirmed they were the king of the network.
Bitcoin will be always the father, the king and the leader of cryptocurrency, however, I think when more exchanges start to use USD pair to trade crypptocurrency, The dollar will dominate the market and bitcoin may lose the power.
I don't think it will happen, Bit coin is always in top position. There is no coin to beat the bitcoin. BTC and ETH have lot of potential and has good technology to grow.

As of now no one can say if there's another coin will be the king in the market because as of now bitcoin is on the lead and no other coin can beat bitcoin even there's so many coin that built from a great project. For the moment I have not thought of it that way. Bitcoin will still be king in my opinion, because it is very strong with the community. Ethereum has an opportunity to be parallel to bitcoin, but it also takes a long time. A good project might shift the bitcoin from its position, but until now no project has exceeded the bitcoin. 
For the more coming years bitcoin is still the dominant of all cryptocurrencies and still the king but not sure how the Ethereum could maintain for the second spot if they got a lot of problem with their network and the almost bubble ERC-20 compatible tokens which was abused by more scam ICOs.
In the near future I do not see which coin could replace BTC and ETH lead on the market , but I believe that
in upcoming future it will happen. It is normal part of the technology progress that some new coins will appear
with better tech. and characteristics. I am pretty sure that in ten Years time we will look back on today`s coins
like we look back now for first mobile or first tv or automobile.

Nothing is going to replace BTC and ETH particularly BTC. Bitcoin has proven to be the best over the course of many years and so i don't think there'll ever be a coin to overtake BTC. The market dominance even tekks that if any coin can do that, it won't be anywhere sooner.
Nobody will replace these two crypto-currencies. Bitcoin and Ethereum have taken their places of honor in the coinmarketcap and they will not let anyone outrun themselves. Soon we are waiting for a big update Bitcoin (Lightning Network) and Ethereum (Casper) and all the competitors will then be left behind again.
that happens naturally crypto recently will keep popping up and it will make its own threat for a few coins. If the bitcoin I think still will still be the best technology and has a great demand. but for the ethereum began to appear some altcoin can so will shift the ethereum. could have been EOS or NEO will be position below the bitcoin in some time to come.
Yes, Bitcoin and ethereum are reigning in the market now. They have much potentials and are one of the most potential coins in the market. I think this coins will reign also in future.
I think coins with anonymous attributes may become new kings in the future. They are XMR, DASH, or XVG. In the encrypted world, I think anonymity is the biggest demand for the industry.
Certainly many crypto-currencies have good potential. And then it's hard to say who will be the king) Everything depends on the demand for that or other crypto currency by consumers.
I do not see any competitors to ethereum right now and do not tell me about EOS, this is not even close to eth with network strenght. Bitcoin will go away in 2-3 years and ETH will push updates to their network ,like Plasma and sharding and then you will see who is the king =)

Bitcoin will remain king, and no altcoin can match the bitcoin. Bitcoin gained more trust, and because of that belief bitcoin will remain king.
We don't know what will happen on the next month or year, because the price of market is unpredictable and volatile.
