Those who wants to beat bitcoin as at the top currency could start a good impression with the bearish market and it seems nothing has the potential to be the next top currency because all currency has been affected will the fall of bitcoin. I think no existing currency can beat bitcoin. I think bitcoin will still be the king but the new king for alternate coins will be Ripple. It actually dethroned ETH but its a matter of keeping its rank. If ETH happens to dethrone it again, I don't think it should be considered the KING of alts. However, if they manage to do that, it would be great to hodl their coin long term.

I believe that a strong competitor to the two main cryptocurrencies BTC and ETH is XRP. Confidence in the crypto community of this coin, we see from its market capitalization, on coinmarketcap XRP is in second place.

I don't think we are going to have a new king,as for me bitcoin will stay forever as the topcoin of all cryptocurrencies, this is the very first coin,the oldest and the most popular in the world.lots of people are aware about bitcoin but they don't know other altcoins.
I chose BTC because it created trust for me and many other investors. I believe that with its ability and potential, it will become one of the most valuable currencies in the crypto market. That is why it has become one of the leading trends today leading people. BTC will thrive in the future.
The old people will still be on top for a long time, but young coins will also appear, which can also offer advanced technologies that will be needed in the future.
I think we dont need any new king for market, bitcoin is still enough for this market and actually we need another things for good days like real projects, big news etc. Maybe in the future btc will not be enough then we can think about this issue, not yet.

Well now I can not say that eth can become a new king for me Ethereum a little losing ground and a little bit falls , bitcoin is still strong!

I think it will always be Bitcoin. Litecoin used to stand out, BCH used to stand out, in the end, the king implements all the most tested safe tech anyway. Theres even smart contracts on BTC through RSK. With time, it will have everything all these other alts are touting as their niche
You adopt something wrong conception in Litecoin, BTC is the ultimate king i believe and this is the best of all time. I did't think in future new crypto coin overcome Btc. I agree with you BCH used to stand out but LTC is not a used for stand out.
I think that in the near future Bitcoin will be the first because it is so firmly established in the first place that after the fall of market Bitcoin it will be the first in 2-3 years 
in my opinion we can't predict what will happened in the future, we should be more optimistic right now in BTC-ETH who will knows if there's a chance to have another matured and secured coins.

Public trust in bitcoin is also still very high so that in the short term, it is still potential to hold control of the crypto currency market. But I am sure that when bitcoin is not able to display its technological innovations, bitcoin will be increasingly marginalized. The longer, people will find more benefits than just popularity.
