I think people expected a crash for the chinese new year. Still a little early to say but I think they're more or less starting to stabilize.

Well in my own experience I could say that I will be selling my altcoins very soon as long as the altcoins that I have will be able to reach the market value that I am expecting for it to reach, I don't wait for the altcoin to reach to its highest market value... as long as I am able to get back what I have invested for that certain altcoin and along with even a small profit... big profit or small profit I am OK with it as long as I can sell them so soon because I really hate missing the opportunity in selling them when their market value is still high.
If you're expecting only a minor dip it might not be worth your time to go in and set up trades, but when the market is in a steady downturn like it is now it's just silly to hold bags.

Actually, analysis predicted a retracement, so you could have thought to sell and re-buy at lower price. Not so many investors did it, because a big retrace like this wasn't predictable.
Anyway, since I am in this crypto world I've learnt to HOLD. If you have invested in serious project you should stay quite certain that they are going to recover soon or late; it is a different story if you bought shitcoin that pump and dump unreasonably.

They are into panic selling that's why. Afraid to loose big profit so if BTC fall down traders sell their altcoins because they are based their altcoin price in BTC.
This is a case to case basis. In a wide variety of coins, not all of us hold the same kind and let us admit it, not all coins will survive. Not all are for long term. Some coins die sooner than expected. Maybe this is one of the reason of some people. On other cases, they must have this fear of losing it all thus panic selling. Long term coins are not meant to be panic sold. This is one of the reasons why traders must know their coins capabilities so as to not sell them at a wrong price and a wrong time.

Now that one really has me confused. To me it's way to early to be selling your altcoins. It's like selling an original painting before it even gains in value or while it is still gaining in value. Its these people are intelligent enough to get out from these coins when bitcoin is started to show some bullish and bearish movements.Altcoins are bleeding when bitcoins are moving this is the the mindset of most of the people that is why we need to go with the flow if the market has crash and you are trapped with these altcoin,how will you buy from the dip if your funds are in the altcoins? I am indifference as to selling or buying Altcoins. This reason is not far fetched at all. Each time or occasionally, when I wakes up on daily basis, I check or watch through the terrain of the Altcoins in my wallets and equally check on the Top lists of Altcoins at the exchange, the decision to either buy or sell any of them may just come up at the spot. So, I can't even predict myself on when to buy or sell these Altcoins, it all depends on the circumstances surrounding them as at then.

We cant blame some of them because maybe they need money and that is why they join bounty campaigns so that they could receive payments in order to support their financial needs of their families. Bounty participants would prefer to sell than to trade for living and that is normal i think.

We call it diversification. If we think that bitcoin will rise, obviously we sell all the altcoin that could affect the price. Usually those coins that has very low support in terms of trades. But we buy back again once bitcoin up rise subside. So tell me, why are you selling your altscoins so soon?
I'm certainly not selling my altcoins, however, I think some of the reasons are as said before that people expect high returns quickly that don't necessarily happen and also the fact that they are usually less likely to succeed than other top coins because a lot of them haven't made their grounding quickly. There is so much hype over Bitcoin, most people only consider Bitcoin as a way to make money.
That said, I disagree completely how is a project meant to do as well as top coins if people are just dumping them all the time.
