I think it's wise to give up ICO at this time. Many projects have only a fuzzy concept, and they do not have a specific business, and many projects need to pay a lot of money to enter the exchange, which will change back through the sharp fluctuations in the price after the token enters the exchange.

Yes, your point of view is correct, I think 2018 ICO prices are falling, which found no ICO price is rising, perhaps because of the encryption market is very weak.

But I'm not going to give up ICO, I still invest in ICO.

I'm not. I think that depend on the ICO we are entering. I think better to ask, research, question and etc. Do some background check of the ICO before joining, to see if its scam.

I agree with your point - I think they still hold to this day, since you see so many ICOs that are ongoing but have some vague message about how their revolutionary technology will forever change X. As soon as I read the whitepaper, I wonder whether their business model will be sustainable, but at the same time, from an "investor's" perspective, most people just look at how much money they can reap.

This is kind of a ridiculous game, to be honest.

I decided to quit ICO's. From December till now I invested about 5 eth into several ICO's. Invest what you can miss, this is what was able to miss.

Right now the first few of my ICO's have reached the exchanges. Most are under performing, but this is related to the overall dip (can be read everywhere). I understand, but ICO token economics have changed also.

  • massive hardcaps
  • most is sold in pre-sale to big investors, leaving scraps for crowdsale
  • much attention to marketing, less to working product or realistic time lines
  • immediately available on EtherDelta and IDEX, sure sign of little interest in token economics/future
  • no lock on pre-sale tokens, whales take their x2, x3 or x-whatever as soon as possible (I would probably have done the same). Prices drop to below ICO price.
  • too many ICO's without distinctive differences.
  • too many ICO's in general
  • too much tokens reserved for team/marketing
  • many ICO's don't even have a crowdsale anymore (which perhaps is a good thing as the little investors are protected this way)
  • ICO prizes are quite high. 1eth = 1000/4000 tokens is pretty common, but with a hc of 40 million, this will not easily go x10 or more.

I was 'unlucky' to miss out on a few ICO's besides the ones I was able to participate in. Afterwards I am glad, since I was able to pick most up at a fraction of the ICO price.

Important as ever: DYOR as not all ICO's have a genuine solution to a genuine problem. Some may seem like a fantastic solution, but often it is marketing combined with a strong team, and not so much a great working product.

And who am I? I am definitely a nobody Tongue, but still wanted to share my experiences and perhaps save people from thinking of getting on board of the next x100 ICO Smiley

p.s. when a Telegram has over 20k subscribers all screaming 'when lambo' with endless rows of animated gifs, you may also wonder if this is a serious block chain solution which will revolutionize 'x' Smiley
You have a good point that there are now many shit ICOs projects. Most of the ICOs nowadays are only focusing to get big amount of money from investors, they are not focusing on how they will improve their products.

You are quitting ICO  you are quitting the cryptocurrency to grow because one of the main reason why cryptocurrency is growing it is because of the new ICO's that you are calling. Most of them has the potential for more growth like ETHEREUM and some Alternative Tokens.

It is true that there are now many scam projects, but I do not think I will give up and do not invest in these projects. Now if you invest in a good ICO project it will bring a lot of profit.

Are you sure? Most ICO's I've seen are normally bought by big BTC/ETH holders, which are not necessarily investors...

You have quitting about the ico’s project where not all ico’s have trust owner and we could take much profit there. Many issues of ico project where their ico was success but always delay and ongoing proggress about the market to sell their ico. We have faced many ico was success and reached hardcap of their ico sold, but they have delay and never try to put their coin to sell on the market. we have remeber about exscudo ico was failed.

Although the ICO has a lot of fraudulent projects, but I will not ignore. This is a high risk investment but it is profitable and I accept it. Currently there are many good projects to invest, so why ignore it.

Agree! The higher the risk, the higher the profit. If you want to earn higher, take greater risks!
ICOs are one great way to be financially free from debts. I get why people are afraid to continue or try  to invest in ICOs but I believe I have the responsibility to share to you guys the help of bicoin.
being fear is normal especially currently there are plenty of scam ICO but yes the risk equal to the profit and sometimes if you're able to found good ICO then you will get decent profit at the end of ICO and i think ICO still interesting as investment way to increase our money

There are way too many ICOs projects on the market nowadays, and I believe it will be more and more harder for companies to raise funds via ICOs projects in the future, there is just way too many ICOs projects that have either gone into total scams or the developer stopped developing the project after the ICOs completes.

I think whatever happens I will not stop at ICO, you should not have such thoughts. In the world of crypto we need is patience and trust.
In my own opinion, most ICO's do really loses their value and scams that is why it is now very risky if you would like to invest in ICO's, but it doesn't mean it will end here. We really need to have patience and trust that they will have a good value someday, so you should not have thoughts that you are quitting ICO's.

Some awesome points here. I think it's fair to say not everyone who makes  project is legit. But thorough investigations is important. Before investing I always try to protect my money or investment before any profit.

I think that will be able to make some funds but not fully think about the total essence of a particular project, this is why as investors we should be really interested in everything.
Even I myself have such dots that are definitely valid. I have seen this market already crowded when it comes to projects I see that they are just purely copying to every other people's ideas as long as they are able to represent something in society.

I think you are right to say this, more or less.  I too have been burned by ICO. I am the same in that I generally stay away from ICOs  now, unless of course a project comes along that i get really excited about.  Yes, there was recently such a project and I spent 31 ETH last week to buy tokens.  If it moons, I am set for life.  If it dies, I won't starve.

What I am trying to say is never say never.   You sound like you have enough experience to know you way around this space.  If something exceptional comes along, don't hesitate to make an exception.

Majority of altcoins right now are below their ICO prices and it's really hard now to find a good one that will give you huge multipliers so you've made a good decision my friend. Each category in ICO is really saturated now I really agree.
The main reason because when it is available in the market then the price is cheaper than when ICO, this happens in many coins or projects that make users worried about ICOs and choose to wait available in the market rather than invest in ICOs.
