Could you go into a bit more detail what you were spending hours on that gave you such a low return? Then you should ask yourself what you did to get any dollars you have? Maybe you could do the same thing in exchange for some bitcoins?

You are totally right! People who have the passion to do and continue doing Bitcoin must have the passion and not easily believe on what other negative people think about Bitcoin. People must choose the right path to take and right campaign to choose. People must believe that in the right time Bitcoin's value will no longer low and will be successful in the near future. Its not the end it just the beginning od Bitcoins journey. They see good reasons to stick with it and most of them are thinking long term.

because bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are still one of the most profitable items in the world. check the prices of 2017 and 2018. you will see the profits of investors and holders. there is no such an alternative investing that gives that much returns.
As of now, it is pretty cheap and that is the reason why the people are still buying bitcoin because they know that there is a chance for bitcoin to have huge pump in the future and that is the reason for me also to hold my bitcoins and other altcoins even though i am experiencing a huge loss because of the dips and i hope everything will go well again.

To me, it seems pretty strange that people actually continues buying btc now...
I understood why they wanted to invest in btc before, after the Chyprus crisis, and all the articles in the media. But now?
I don't get it.
Bitcoin is useless, and will most likely never be used as a currency. I spent hours trying to get my first bitcoins (satoshi actually), and after working for ages, I only got 0.002 btc, which does not even allow me to proceed to a transaction (the fees are higherthan that amount
). When you compare it with CC or paypal, it seems that they are free to use in comparison! Not to mention the time required to actually proceed to a transaction which can be anything between 1 minute and ... 1 year (or more?).
The only possible reason I see people are buying btc is that they (truly) believe that the price will increase, and want to make more profit. I think that 99.99 % of the bitcoins exchanged are never withdrawn from the exchangers, and the people are only waiting to make some profits. What makes them believe that the price will rise? Because the amount of bitcoins is limited? Because lost coins can never be recovered? I have no clue.
An other problem is the "mining" part. Soon, the difficulty will increase, CPU and GPU mining will be useless. People will stop mining bitcoins and try LTC or something easy to get... The interest in btc will decrease.
Other issues:
- security. Not a single company was able to provide a "professional" service. Bitcoin-24 has a serious problem ( https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bitcoin-24com-matching-engine-seems-broken-site-down-174600 ). Even mtgox was critized for the lags, problems with missing coins, money, delay, and so on ... The hacks are countless (you can see new topics about that every day ...).
I can't see anything positive about btc, and still can't get why people are buying it. Can any captain obvious explains? Thanks.

They bought bitcoin simply because they believe in bitcoin, they believe that bitcoin will pump sooner or later. Bitcoin is a promising coin that's why they buy bitcoin and then hold it for a long time, and then selling it when the price is high. That's the people strategy.
People are still buying bitcoin hoping to find good future by having a good profit,i n spite of the irregularity of its value and many negative comment are coming this signifies that bitcoin is indeed capturing many investor and still great through the years.
because they need it. they keep buying bitcoin because they see a great chance at it. maybe everyone has a principle, and different reasons when buying bitcoins. but the goal is to make a profit.

Cause bitcoin can lift the future of cryptocurrency whales, but we should check the future, but its my account so that bitcoin will be risen by more than one will give a new wallet. People still buying BTC because they believe that bitcoin can give them good earnings in the future, if they will buy now in low value and then sell it in high value then they can receive huge profits.
a lot of people who buy bitcoin because maybe I think they can still benefit from bitcoin just imagine you make this thread in 2013 while now in 2018 you must regret for selling bitcoin too fast.
most of them want to speculate with their money , in order get profits from bitcoin price rises.buy on low and sell on high or exspensive price.they believe bitcoin will give them high return from their asset.
Bitcoin has potential in the long-term time, especially in transaction method.
