This isn't surprising with the advancement of AI, this is also good since it would reduce the financial constraints of keeping most unproductive employees around. I quess AI is only doing 70% of the work, leaving the 30% for specialists in the various department, you too can upgrade yourself to be part of the 30% who are not replaceable by AI
If this trend keep continue, what the world would be? many people will become unemployed and not all people can become engineers. Middle class people will become poor as they don't get decent jobs, will we see a big revolution that the poor to clash against the rich?
If you cannot become an engineer, then become a marketing consultant, Business Analyst, or Seasoned Chef. The roles are non-stop and AI can never replace those who have grounded specialized knowledge in their fields, AI has only come to replace average workers, but experts are still in high demand to help manage and oversee the activities of these robots. This is not a time to complain about the emergence of AI because they are here to stay and keep advancing by the day, rather its time we all step-up to the challenge and develop very much specialized knowledge in our fields and moreover learn to work with AI and further increase our productivity and perceived value.
I'm not sure if this happen in your country or not, but in my country most companies don't want to make their employees become permanent workers anymore, they only want contract workers because the companies don't have to give compensation to fired contract workers.
Its not happening now in my country, but it is very much expected in the nearest future, this revolution is spreading speedily like wild fire, it would reach everywhere like wild fire and for those it has not reached their country, its time to start preparing for the Ai wave so it doesn't meet you unprepared. Contract worker is just a mere formality to put you on probation, if you're good you'll be given a longer contract that almost feels like permanent job or even made a permanent staff because The company wouldn't want to let you go.
I understand that permanent workers are just a "myth", but if the companies suffer bad financial and want to reduce the employees, they would fire the contract workers first, so permanent workers are safer.
It does not happen that way all the time sir, companies look out for productivity and if the contract workers are more productive, they would retain them and reduce the numbers of their permanent staffs, or rather reduce their pays, forcing those who cannot cope to leave on their own.
