I am one of those who thinks that AI is gonna take away jobs and the economy is gonna take a bad turn if this goes on like this. The world is getting more advanced everyday and AI is is brilliant, a good way to make so much easier, a boss getting rid of secretaries while Secretaries getting lazy by using AI to  generate her boss letters, business proposals and much more, it is not only affecting the world the workforce but it is also making people lazy, students are starting to write their projects on AI, i know you will say there is a way to know if a student wrote their project with an AI or not but don't forget AI is advancing and for every program created to detect this another program will be created to counter that, but in the end everyone is relying on AI to see what and what not, AI replies emails, AI drives, AI cleans, AI works in the restaurant, AI delivers food, it is only gonna get worse, people are losing their jobs and the more this goes on there is trouble for the future. My 2 cents, i have more to write but i stop here for now.

I saw a video on my social media there's a restaurant that using AI and almost 100% automated, I thought it's a new video, but actually it has been around for six months.

If this trend keep continue, what the world would be? many people will become unemployed and not all people can become engineers. Middle class people will become poor as they don't get decent jobs, will we see a big revolution that the poor to clash against the rich?

I'm not sure if this happen in your country or not, but in my country most companies don't want to make their employees become permanent workers anymore, they only want contract workers because the companies don't have to give compensation to fired contract workers.

I understand that permanent workers are just a "myth", but if the companies suffer bad financial and want to reduce the employees, they would fire the contract workers first, so permanent workers are safer.
Actually, something similar has happened in my country and in the country where I work now. Where many companies and large factories no longer use a permanent employee appointment system. And most currently use a work contract system which is quite limited, namely only 2 to 3 years and must be renewed if the contract expires. And even that is quite difficult because you have to reapply.

And regarding jobs being replaced by robots and AI, I think this is also increasing in my country. but in my country the big factories are only just starting to use robots and maybe not yet using the latest AI. but the presence of these robots has indeed caused many factory employees to be laid off and lose their jobs. And now here so many people have lost their jobs. But what's unique here is that people who have lost their jobs are starting to create their own businesses and some have even succeeded in becoming content creators. And most people who lost their jobs in the real world are now switching to looking for work in the online world and it seems that many are also succeeding in this digital industry. Because currently there are far more opportunities that can be obtained from online business than offline. So in my opinion Ai will never completely replace humans in work. It's just that there will indeed be major changes in the type of work humans do. maybe heavy work can be done with robots and AI but light work can still be done by humans.

AI is a double edged sword and this is common sense since ages op. How? AI automates many manual activities making life easier for people around the world, but it replaces some of the workforce too causing job losses.

Some people focus more on the good part while some others focus more on the bad part. Whatever the case, AI is already taking over the world slowly and steadily for better or for worse.
Yes, there's no stopping AI anymore. As long as computer technology lives on, AI will always be a part of it. But my point is, instead of competing with AI works, why not just improve our individual job's quality and be more efficient and effective so that the management won't resort into using AI. Know that computers also make mistakes, it's not perfect. Just like humans as well. But if we become more effective in our daily works, I don't think AI will have a place in the working industry, except if the management chose not to hire workers anymore, just stick to AI for money saving.

Using AI can not only save money but can also ensure efficiency and quality of work . Even when workers try to improve their performance, they cannot compare with machines, can you work 24/7 without taking a break? But AI and robots can work without rest and not only that, they have almost no performance decline like humans . So I think it's inevitable that companies want to use AI to replace humans because their goal is to maximize savings and create the best profits, they don't care about anything else. The rise of AI is exciting for companies, organizations, and leaders , but from a worker's perspective , it's truly alarming.

Cheap human labor is still more affordable for the employers than investing in robots and AI.
Where do you live? I don't want to watch this Youtube video, but I can assume that this AI restaurant bot has been installed in some Japanese or South Korean restaurant(or maybe somewhere in the USA). Those two countries are pretty open to technological innovations and they have problems with not having enough workforce to be hired to do physical labor.
I think that AI won't become a threat to the working class in the next 5-10 years. The economic concept of firing millions of people and replacing them with bots is unsustainable, because the workers are consumers. Creating mass unemployment would also create a recession(which is a severe drop in the consumer demand for goods and services). This would be very bad for the business owners.

The revolution has occurred where poor people will continue to be workers for rich people, only now the pattern of jobs available is starting to shift.
Sophistication will continue to emerge and every period new things will emerge and humans will be required to be more able to keep up. I saw a small example of a shop that created a group assignment in Scientific form, now they can complete that assignment outside of the work done by humans because they are using ChatGPT.

Contract jobs should also have an employment agreement and if they are fired due to a mistake they may not receive compensation. It's I same as a regular job and if a mistake is made during the job, you shouldn't get compensation either.
In my country there is still a balance between permanent workers and contract work, but in some periods there has been a trend towards contracts for hired workers.
The reason is that they can evaluate workers every year and if they are not productive they can be dismissed respectfully.

I don see any reason why human race will be afraid of AI taken over the jobs meant for human. At some point I was thinking likewise but I had a rethink after I watched a video that changed my mentality. This video talks about AI being an assistant to human by reducing stress and not taken job away from humanity. According to that video it talked about how people where frightened about the previous invention that people love ans cherished most today, which are plan, cars, factory machines, heavy duty robot machine and many other robotics control devices, which has become a friend to man now. people depends on those rejected invention for survival because without them most people would have been long dead. Although there is always a disadvantage attached to anything that is good, but we can't forget the fact that they are helpful. Most of those AI will creatore employment because there will be alot of AI engineers to fix those AI incase of any damages or can be working in a robot manufacturing factory. Or better still the robot will be an assistant to what we do because no matter how smart a Robotbis it can't do everything on its own without command. So the command becomes your job.

AI or any other form of technology that will emerge will possibly make humans lose their jobs, but only in certain cases and that only reduces, and also opens up opportunities for new forms of work that have never existed before, and humans are created to always be able to adapt to everything that happens, so that in the future humans will also benefit from the massive use of AI, and rather than worrying about the bad impacts that might occur, it is better to learn about AI so that we will get good impacts from this form of technology that is impossible to stop, apart from accepting and using it well for life, it might make things easier later.

The ideal world should be the employee is being given a chance to increase productivity through the use of AI in their working environment, but we sure aren't living in an ideal world where such thing could really happen.
with the emergence of so many companies trying to leverage AI into using it for replacing human workforce, kinda self explanatory what direction our future gonna be taking, eventually it's gonna be the same as mailman being replaced by email all over again.

what can we do just follow where the river flow and try to learn new skill which is AI related from scratch. but, at this point i'm really hoping that there will be higher taxes for the use of AI that could give government more money to provide welfare to the people that probably gonna get affected heavily by the use of robotic work force.
because I can see that there gonna be so many unemployment.

Every revolution in the world throughout history brings with it positive and negative things, and artificial intelligence has the same positive and negative aspects.

At the present time, I think we do not have to worry too much, but it is certain that this will be a big problem in the distant future. Most countries in the world are moving towards artificial intelligence and automation little by little, and robots will replace humans.

We cannot confront development. On the contrary, we must strive to adapt to it, contain it, and benefit from it as much as possible. People who can adapt will inevitably benefit and will find new fields of work, but for those who cannot adapt and develop themselves, they will certainly suffer greatly.

Automation has been taking jobs in manufacturing and a few other industries already for many decades. Now they are using the “AI" marketing buzzword but these machines are only doing what they have already been programmed to do and aren’t capable of learning anything new on their own until a programmer updates their software.

I’m not sure how good for the economy this will be. Usually, working at a fast food restaurant is one of those things you can do as a last resort when you are unable to find employment but now that won’t even require a human workforce. More people could end up on welfare, draining resources from the government, instead of doing something productive even if it is unskilled labor.

That's why people need to upscale. Everyone needs to have specific upgraded skills to survive this tough competitor which is the AI. But take a look at the logic of these AIs. They might operate automatically but there's still a need for them to continue with their development and that means there's a need for developers. There's a need for it to be maintained and that's why there's a need for it to have a maintenance personnel for it to be maintained. While many of the simple tasks will be replaced by AI and the most complex tasks will still be done by us. Well, this is me still thinking of the positivity out of this quick progress of AIs.

In terms of efficiency and if AI can actually do jobs properly then yes, they definitely can. They'd probably just need some minimum amount of personnel to handle some issues whenever a situation outside what AI knows happens. Sadly I don't think they're at that point or even close to it yet. They're more of a tool of sorts right now. I'd say whatever you see in the internet right now with these showcases are more of AIs made for that, as a showcase. Not for real world use yet.

I'd expect a major shift in the aspects related to economy though since there's a LOT of workforce that AI can replace and if they were, then the economy could stagnate since the cash inflow would pretty much stop circulating among those commonfolk and would probably just revolve in businesses and the people that manufacture AI. Maybe a lot of new work positions may open up or maybe there's just going to be a company that's going to give out free money every month lol.

I don't believe that the invent of AI is going to render humans jobless and make the world a worse place as you are imagining. When there's a new technology, it usually creates a different kind of opportunity for humans. In the olden days, there was a lack of modern technology and machines to do some jobs, but as the world got better with new technology and other machines being invested, there was a need to hire or employ individuals that were going to handle those machines that were being invested to make human activities easier. It's artificial intelligence we are talking about; it doesn't have brains like humans, and there is always an elastic limit to what a technology can do.

Well, FYI this is not just AI, it also a robot that has been on the works for very long time for example in the car manufacturing plant it does it's job which is predefined to it and this robot must be similar kind.

But I read an article that in the next 10 years we may have robot in our kitchen that can cook anything that we select from the menu which means maids may not longer get hired but this all just a part of the evolution and it's inevitable.

Companies don't work for humanity they just work for profits so if they have an alternative that can be less expensive then there is no surprise they will go into that and I assume it's in the hands of policy makers now to how much level these can be accepted or they are gonna sell us out like they always do.

As AI gets more powerful, those at the top will need to figure out a way to make this work, because it is easy to think that business owners will replace all their workers, but without those workers getting any income, who do they expect to buy their products? So they will be negatively impacted by AI too, it is just that they do not see it yet, so trying to make an economy work under those conditions is not going to be easy, as it is something we have never encountered in our whole history, so we have no previous examples we can use to guide our efforts.
Business owners would really be thinking up the ff:

1. Cost efficient
2. Precision
3. Duration or fast execution

Then they would really be switching up or would integrate Robots if they would be seeing such advantage. Lets just accept the fact that this world would really be bound to changes
and sooner or later those old traditional ways would really be replaced by something new and something which is more faster and convenient or something which would really be that relevant.
On the moment that these businessowners would really be taking up that kind of advantage or something that would be beneficial then of course they would really be going for that option.
For those who are really that will be affected then there's nothing we can do about that but to find for another job.

There would really be still those companies who would really be still needing human skills or labor to do the job. Not everything would really be handled out
by automation but actually we would really be heading there.

I believe people had discussions like this when the internet was coming up years ago. There may have been those who would have been scared that the internet would take jobs away because the job of 10-20 people can be done by one person, but instead, the internet turned out to create more jobs instead of taking jobs away.
I believe artificial intelligence is not so different.

First of all, the Internet is way cheaper than AI, any business can afford the Internet, and most individuals in the world have access to the Internet, but what percentage of the world would have access to AI which is very expensive.
Using an AI to do a job in a restaurant or hotel, for example, might even be more expensive than hiring a staff. The world is a long way from having AI in jobs is a normal thing, that day might come, but not soon and before that day comes the world would be ready, it would have evolved beyond what we know it as today.

AI is unstoppable, as technology is. Humans have to adapt to it and reorganize themselves, like they have always did along the history of humanity. The concerns you bring here are the same concerns people had between the transition from the agrarian, rural societies to the industrial ones, and the fact that craftsmanship would be replaced by automatic machines, so the artisans would lose their jobs and income. The same we see now with AI revolution.

It's not possible to say what will happen in the future, but it's possible new concepts and categories of jobs are created and become available, so the market can absorb the exceeding labor force available. At same time, another kinds of jobs and professions will disappear to be totally replaced by machines.

And it sounds really good, because nobody wants to have as professional career to fry potatoes at the MC Donalds for their whole lives. If it's possible a machine does that, let it be. Meanwhile the person who worked there before can occupy his time with something more rewarding and fulfilling.

There is a lot of hype around artificial intelligence right now and these things can often generate bubbles. There's no doubt that things like ChatGPT are showing very impressive advances which are displacing some jobs, but all those people can go on to specialize in other fields. You have to stay dynamic in order to be competitive in this world and throughout history we have seen jobs becoming obsolete, so it is nothing new. AI still seems in it's infancy in terms of what it can do and is often handicapped by it's own creators in many ways, like inherent biases it picks up while learning from the internet. The contract workers issue you describe is probably more related to offshoring than it is to AI, so be careful when you target your frustration.
