maybe yess, because bitcoin still have some problem, also the fee rise everyday, the price rise and the fee rise, in future i think bitcoin can't be micropayment anymore, maybe less fee like dogecoin or other can be next generation for bitcoin
I think we do not know what will happen in the future, we'll just say it might happen? see technology is always evolving and it is possible that there is a coin that is more sophisticated than bitcoin

like last technology, zcash is good altcoin feature, we can send anonymoustly and truely anonymoustly with his "special feature" in first time zcash price is very high, maybe in future zcash can replace bitcoin Roll Eyes
Yes you say is true about zcash, but we must know the journey and development zcash from time to time. Viewing Zcash still new releases so we do not know what will happen in the future. There are many excellent altcoin and reportedly could replace bitcoin, but it was not easy and takes a long time. Bitcoin is growing and adoption has increased so difficult to replace. Bitcoin will be replaced if it dies and can not grow so many people who do not use it again and use another crypto. I personally believe bitcoin will continue to grow and will not be replaced by another crypto.

New cryptocurrencies are beeing developed each day, some of them with tendency to replace tgu Bitcoin and hoping that it will achieve the same success. But so far there is no cryptocurrency who could take Bitcoins place. I'm not saying this is impossibe and maybe some even more perfect cryptocurrency will appear but not in the near future.

*Brute force will solve any Bitcoin problem*
There are few cryptos what are on market from long time maybe will some few more but thay will exist together with bitcoin,it is any problem it is even very good to have some real strong alternatives
I think bitcoin will stay forever as a cryptocurrency and noone will replace it. Because bitcoin is a really efficient crypto and even there a lot of others that are being created they are still being called alt coins.
Lets say there are new created and being piqued of interest by many people, yes it will be popular, but bitcoin will be standing there a top of that alt coin. I think nothing can replace bitcoin by another cryptocurrency.
Bitcoin is not immune to problems and if big ones occur, then people might look for altcoins. Especially now with the blocksize problems and the uncertainty of soft fork, hard fork and different 2nd layer solutions. The worst case being that Bitcoin can not handle the Volume anymore and no solution is in place or while trying to implement one something goes wrong. This is what many people are afraid of and also how an altcoin could overtake Bitcoin very quickly. If the altcoin would then be the maincoin and we would call Bitcoin an altcoin is hard to say, but this depends on the people in the crypto world

In fact, it cuts both ways

While considering the possibility that Bitcoin is hard to update (even if there is a real need for updates like SegWit and likely Lightning Network), we should not forget that it may actually contribute to wider Bitcoin popularity since it will be looked at as something rock solid, immutable and invariable. These qualities are what is required for a reliable store of value, anyway. If gold changed its shine every two years, would it be as valuable as it is?

^lightning network is just an extra layer...may solve some short term practical issues ~*
===> long term= store of value is bitcoins' ultimate gimmick!! :-D

Yes it could happen but i doubt very much it will happen the short to medium term, to actually make bitcoin obsolete would be a achievement.

I think that you're right and I don't that an other currency will take over the Bitcoin on the short term.

yes possibilities are always there but still i think in is not such an easy job in near future. bitcoin is still number one crypto currency of the world and hope that it will remain as number in future because the users of bitcoin are increasing continuously.

Does it make sense to believe that Bitcoin could one day be replaced by another cryptocurrency, that is, a cryptocurrency that really does make Bitcoin obsolete?

Bitcoin possible obsolete by other coins but not this short period of time.Bitcoin replaced if no one using it.  As long as many consumers believe in bitcoin it will remain number 1.
i do not think that it will be every possible to replace bitcoin by another coin. i think bitcoin will continue for ever as it is the best currency of the world so far and still there is not any currency so near to it.

I don't think that it will happen too. Looking upon the market cap of bitcoin it's very impossible that another popped out coin will just replace it.

And seeing the next to it which is ETH is still very far to replace bitcoin. So I really don't think that it will be ever replaced.

That's the aim of most alt devs.
i wouldn't say it's impossible, it could happened anytime but so far i can't see there is a high possibility for altcoin like ethereum or litecoin could replace bitcoin position as a center of cryptocurrency. but you know everything could changes as time goes by , i just think not for now.

Yes everything could change but upon seeing the market of crypto currency, bitcoin is always on its domination. And it's very impossible that another coin will replaced it.

And those alt coins that are coming are just for profiting purposes, they will develop now and will collect a lot of bitcoins upon ICO.

When they collected already, they will forget that current coin and will try to develop a new one and the cycle goes on.

So I really can't see it will be ever replaced.

Not in the foreseeable time IMO, all the cryptocurrencies other than bitcoin are unstable, unreliable, let alone lacking advantages overall:
Doge, fun but just a gig
Litecoin, Even worse than doge, absolutely not doing anything worth considering for a long while
ETH, if it wasn't so hack-able, it would be appreciated more
XMR seems decent overall and getting some actual use and adoption, but far from BTC.

The blocksize debate is going on for years now. Undecided. I would prefer to see it decide and either way would be better then not deciding. Who want to invest in something that is undecided about the next steps. Nobody wants Bitcoin to change constantly, but if there is an security issue that need fixing, then i rather see it done sooner then later. Same goes for obstacles that prevent Bitcoin from growing. Being rock solid etc is usually an argument that is presented by the old, slow and established so you to stay with them, while there are better alternatives out there. Bitcoin does not need to be a trendsetter, but it needs to be up to date!

there is nothing  in the world which is impossible if we got anything better than this then why not . we will switch to that cryptocurrency and even thought we still having a huge issue with the transacton fees which is hardly taking away a big money like you have to pay a precious price if you want to deal. it feels like i am dealing with devels of hells
in fact any thing is possible but nothing is so easy.i think bitcoin is the number one currency of the world and will remain as number one currency and nothing can replace bitcoin in near future.

Bitcoin nowadays, is very trending in the internet as we all know about it. And many of the critics people are attempting to destroy bitcoin but in the end they stop. So I don't think there is other altcoins that can replace bitcoin in the future. Because according to the former governor of PBOC bitcoin is impossible to be die, which I read on twitter update here's the link https://twitter.com/cnLedger/status/831492861614919681 Smiley

it might be hard to tell for now if that can happen now but as time goes on... but it will be defficult for another crypto currency to come up one day to beat down bitcoin...
That true, the way I see it, bitcoin will continue to dominate the crypto-world. It's popularity has been increasing and it has caught the attention of the media due to the recent recent great price increase.
This situation gives us a good chances to be profitable as with the help of the media, the increasing awareness will happen. In addition, bitcoin also raise the interest of big businesses due to the good adoption rate and they want to capitalize the market.

Banks are even thinking of making their own blockchain life as they are inspired with the unique system that attract people.

The only way I see Bitcoin being replace by another cryptocyrrency is when Bitcoin is banned all over the world, therefor making another altcoin to be the main cryptocurrency to represent them. Bitcoin as of now is the most successful virtual money out there and it is still developing. We may now know when it will mature, but that is the time when a new player can come in and replace Bitcoin.
Such a chance is there. Along with that we need to remember one thing, if bitcoin is banned over the entire nation then same is the situation for altcoins too. We cannot see anymore virtual currencies into use or circulation. I hope such occasion of bitcoin getting replaced or banning won't take place as continuous adoption is felt in every part of the nations.
