Does it make sense to believe that Bitcoin could one day be replaced by another cryptocurrency, that is, a cryptocurrency that really does make Bitcoin obsolete?

I dont  think so because, bitcoin is the father of all the cryptocurrency there. As time goes by bitcoin's value continues to get higher and higher. Many people get imterested in it.Therefore they have been invested to it , in order for them to go with the flow.

Other currencies can co-exist but I think that Bitcoin will ever be the first one and more and more people will use Bitcoin since Megaupload 2.0 and Bitcache will be launched probably this year.

Exactly, bitcoin is already name of crypto and it is more popular, trustful and first crypto currency name of Bitcoin.
So the question will be Why bitcoin need to replace by another crypto currency?
Even no one any other cryto currency is here to comparative with Bitcoin.
No chance.

Although Bitcoin is slowly growing in popularity, despite all of its various problems, there remains a certain psychological security in a currency held in one's hand. Moreover, fears of hacking, viruses, and other attacks on the entire financial foundation of a nation via purely digital means will likely make most nations slow to adopt such a form of currency.

Bitcoin is not slowly growing in its popularity. It becomes more popular than before. The important thing to know about bitcoin is the characteristics, the benefits, and its advantages. The first reason that Bitcoin has a vast advantage over newer cryptocurrency is their network effect. What if you are a buyer o seller? What will you choose? A bitcoin or other cryptocurrency like litecoin? Because of the power and popularity of bitcoin, you/they will choose bitcoin. The stability is one reason why they choose bitcoin. Bitcoin will not be replaced by another cryptocurrency.

Nothing will stable in the real world, who knows coming days the Bitcoin price may go down and it will go below 100$. We can not predict the digital currency market. Anything can happen in this market. But as per now, the Bitcoin is ruling digital currency world. And it reached the highest value. No other crypto will reach this price. So the bitcoin is famous.

It does make sense because anything can happen in this world we live in.
But I personally don't think that another crypto currencie will make the Bit[Suspicious link removed]bselete. The Bitcoin is to big to let that happen now
It seems to me that in this case the longer the currency is in use the more likely she is to stay. Can become outdated principles of supply of bitcoin, but the bitcoin will live long. At least until he declared war on the Federal reserve system of the USA.

Maybe right now it is not possible with another cryptocurrency because many coins are failing at their ICO stages only. Bitcoin has more strong user base community where many people are not still using bitcoin. Cryptocurrency becomes very popular due to because of bitcoin, so it might take another decade the changing place of bitcoin with other crypto.

Several ICO projects have been existing based upon the blockchain platform. Among  all such projects only very few are successful due to the uniqueness. Most projects don't move further to the next level. So these days only the coins that have long time survival similar to bitcoin such as wherein or Monero grow potentially. But this won't replace bitcoin as bitcoin stays several steps ahead.

Only if bitcoin is banned universally by UN or all government and it is become punishable crime to hold or use bitcoin than dash or monero can become next bitcoin.
This is although highly unlikely to happen but hypothetically speaking these cryptos may be the best alternative.

Yeah it is possible, although for that to happen a new cryptocurrency would have for example to solvem the problem with bitcoin's fees or offer better transaction confirmations time so it all comes down to whether there would be a cryptocurrency which would be better than BTC in regards to parameters and operations, also let's not forget that BTC has been the number one for some time now and it will not be easy for it to lose it's leader place.

If that's the case, then all the other cryptocurrencies will be replacing bitcoins. There are far smaller fees and far shorter transaction confirmation time on all the other coins. The problem is that bitcoin is still the best coin to buy since it's the coin that has the most merchants (compare to other cryptocurrencies) and the price of bitcoin has more volatility than other coins. Other cryptocoins after getting hyped dies quickly because the pump-and-dumpers have already made a few bucks and for them it's time to exit the scene.

I don't think bitcoin is replaceable by other cryptocurrency at all because if it is, then it should've been replaced by now. Only way for bitcoin to be replaced by another cryptocurrency is when bitcoin is already gone (i.e. destroyed.)

These technologies all have staying power. They will affect the economy and our politics, improve medicine, or influence our culture. Some are unfolding now; others will take a decade or more to develop.

I think if there comes a cryto that can reward miners in a better way and also being an upgrade on bitcoins then there could be a possibility that some crypto might be able to replace bitcoins but that would be very hard to create and then get traction to.
Giving the miners better rewards seems tempting but if the reward was not halved like in bitcoin then there will not be a limit in the amount of coins that will exist and that will affect the price and the miners too, so it is not an easy problem to solve.
