The bitcoin will be the base currency. It is the reserve currency in the digital world and not replaceable.

A big no, there are not any alt that has enough potential and features to beat the bitcoin. As well as bitcoin users and marketcap is really big than most of the altcoins which shows the adoption of bitcoin is very high than any alts. Nobody can predict the future however bitcoin may remain number one crypto for next few years.

The bitcoin is the biggest and I also think that it will stay the biggest because its growing very fast and it also has a pretty good future compared with other cryptocurrency's.
I think it will always win from the other ones.
Other coins will depend on the bitcoin because bitcoin is the first coin in crypto currency or it is the mother of coin. Bitcoin still remain at the top of crypto world considering the un-calculated number of users.
Other coins would be successful if they simply pulled together a community interested in seeing it succeed and got some merchants accepting and exchanging it. Those are two of the biggest barriers to entry for a lot of new coins, and a majority of the time (effectively all the time to be honest) the coins fail to meet both of these standards due to excessive speculation or other failures.

it is not easy. and you can't just go around gather people and invite them into using your altcoin.
they have to choose to use that altcoin themselves like what people did with bitcoin in early days.
right now we are only interested in altcoins as  way of making quick money from pumps.
Really, your interest in altcoin is not good for future when you are holding, the dump and pump game that happen in altcoins is only good for short term investment and if we are saying that it can replace bitcoin, that certain coins should have a very good potential to attract the interest and trust of the people.

In my point of view, there is a possibility that bitcoin will be
replaced by another cryptocurrency. As we all know people/users
also the reasons why bitcoin become popular. And bitcoin become
in demand because of users who brought bitcoin into the world.
Thus, there is a big chance that this will be repalced by another
cryptocurrency since its being manipulated by people also.
yeah it may happen even some time ago had surfaced that etherum arch-rivals for bitcoin, and there are a lot of people to join etherum even etherum daily turnover could reach more than 1200 BTC, but fortunately not in a sliding bitcoin by the popularity of etherum

But Ethereum will never replace bitcoin, ethereum market is manipulated, bitcoin is not or hard to be manipulated.  And I don;t think bitcoin will be replaced by any altcoin if bitcoin can adapt with the situation.  And I believe that bitcoin  will adjust according to the current  needs economically and technically
Yeah people who use etherium and another altcoin is just use it gain their bitcoin by trading. so they buy etherium and then change it back to bitcoin. There are so many new cryptocurrency born and die. Bitcoin is only one which never die, that is the fact. So I do not think that bitcoin will be replaced by another cryptocurrency.

Those altcoins will always die. The other coins are the proof of it. Just this ethereum is taking more time before it gets to the point that they are already rich and can manage to get the ROI and pay their employees retirement fees. It will end also the money is not just enough now.
Most of the altcoins does not really last long. ETH and XMR are a more legitimate because you ca see that people are trusting their money on the future of this coins. Right now, they are both performing well although XMR are having some kind of price fall back but it will rise back.

Does it make sense to believe that Bitcoin could one day be replaced by another cryptocurrency, that is, a cryptocurrency that really does make Bitcoin obsolete?

I think there is a possibility to be replace by the other altcoins, but it will take a long time of years before that happen. Because the stability of bitcoin now is that bad at all. Therefore, not this time or in our generation now.
That is true. Stability is something that other altcoins don't have. But I do think that Bitcoin may get overtaken one day. Maybe ethereum might overtake it.
I think so anyway with altcoin, bitcoin actually has no stable point on their prices. bitcoin prices continue to move quickly, although movement is very small. but bitcoin always fluctuating thought, just like other cryptocurrency, but even so bitcoin will not be replaced by another coin
I would say that the bitcoin price has been quite stable for the past few months. There is always going to be fluctuation in a currency so new but the ups and down are nothing that can't be handled by the average user.

Regarding the OP question, anything could happen, still very early days atm.

I feel that for now it will not happen. bitcoin is the mother of all altcoin, and until now there is no altcoin that could reach $ 100 in addition to bitcoin. so I guess it takes a very long time until bitcoin will be replaced by altcoin the other, or maybe it will happen if bitcoin disappear, but I'm not convinced by it

There are videos already of developers testing the lightning network and big steps are being taken in the right direction. Once the lightning network is live we will see some serious acceleration in the development, adoption and price, it will be fun to watch the people that are still doubting about getting in.

no. There are too many businesses that have invested too much in creating an economy around BTCitcoin.

Good point. As long as many people still believe and invest in bitcoin, it can never go down.
It also can't be sabotaged. You know what I mean. Bitcoin is as strong as steel.
well you are kinda right in my opinion, i think that bitcoins will be really strong in the future and make me money

Basically I don't think bitcoin will be replaced by another cryptocurrency because the core devs are active and don't let the bitcoin to 'die'.

It is true that the other cryptocurrencies are being developer faster than bitcoin but people do not trust them as much as bitcoin.
