I think bitcoin will not be replace by other crytocurrency. Maybe others currency had potential to follow bitcoin.

Correct the amount of altcoins are tremendous and in that regard we have to compare their eco system vs bitcoin to make a good judgement.
At this moment there is no coin like bitcoin which such an enormous amount of companies accepting bitcoin.

You can understand Bitcoin by thinking of it as another evolutionary leap, an improvement over fiat money just as fiat money was an improvement over gold.  Bitcoin is portable in a way that no other cryptocurrencies will overcome bitcoin anytime soon. May be others follow it.

Does it make sense to believe that Bitcoin could one day be replaced by another cryptocurrency, that is, a cryptocurrency that really does make Bitcoin obsolete?
Bitcoin has a lot of market shares in this moment, it is unlikely that another cryptocurrency can take it place, since Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency.
But, if an interesting cryptocurrency is launched, for example, with no transaction fees, it can be possible.

If a crypto currency does not have transaction fee, it will not be sustainable. It will be a scam coin soon.

until now is imposible altcoin replace bitcoin
not only one altcoin replace bitcoin etherum litecon still can't replace bitcoin
requirement replace must high community use, support much payment another site olshop same and equal bitcoin
liquid exchange to fiat money same with bitcoin

Ethereum isn't really a "currency" like Bitcoin is, so it's like comparing apples to oranges... And then litecoin is pretty much the same thing as bitcoin without all the bloat...

None of these two coins change how we would use cryptocurrencies as a currency.
Well if Ethereum isn't a currency, what is it? A currency is defined as something used as a medium of exchange or something that is used as money, a definition that Ethereum seems to fill nicely.

Ethereum doesn't really change anything about cryptocurrencies aside from being generated though other crypto "resources" and being generated through applications and people moving things through it. it adds a nice concept, but at the core it doesn't do much more than add a few numbers and fuse some features together.
From what I understand, 'chennan' might have been saying that Eth is not like Bitcoin, which is a currency that is used even in the physical world. I do not seem to have seen any shop in the neighborhood, nor any shops near my friends in different countries that accepts Eth as payment.

Bitcoin may be replaced by a different technology or be superseded but it will take a very long time as Bitcoin is a pioneer in this technology. I think Bitcoin is here to stay for a very long time as paper money has been around for thousands of years.

Yes it is possible but i dont think will be happening in short time, bitcoin can or cant be replace its depend on the user and how the developer advertise and adapt their new coin
If a lot of user keep on using bitcoin then bitcoin will be hard to be replace because bitcoin is the pioneer and more people is getting used to used it

Bit coin is the Original electronic crypto currency and you can never replace it with anything at all.
It's more like an egg as we have a lot of different eggs out of so many birds even reptiles but as though they might represent the same
Function but they have completely different out come. I hope you get what I'm talking about. Wink

It is true, can never really forget about Bitcoin as it is the founder of the most known set of cryptocurrencies and your explanation is pretty spot on.

I mean that's true, but in some circumstances and in other cultures 1 cow and 2 goats will get you a plow for your farm; does this mean that when you talk about cows and goats you automatically think of "currency"?  No.

Ethereum is, at least how I understand it, a token that can be used for smart contracts/apps... It just seems, to me atleast, that Ethereum can be and should be viewed as something completely different than cryptocurrency.

If you think about it, so it bitcoin. It cannot be considered only as a currency because it also has the characteristics of a commodity.  If by some miracle a platform was created that can execute apps and will use side chain bitcoins to power these apps, what will you now classify bitcoin as?

I more liked to call ETH is half of the currency, because it's like a bitcoin and no having many different with bitcoin, and basically the working system eth in bitcoin is same but, maybe caused by it's rarely to find ETH exchange into the fiat , because a lot of people is exchange their eth into bitcoin before withdrawal it into the fiat.
