Does it make sense to believe that Bitcoin could one day be replaced by another cryptocurrency, that is, a cryptocurrency that really does make Bitcoin obsolete?

You should use your sense, now Bitcoin is already Crypto currency, So why bitcoin need to change into an other crypto currency, Also lets take an example, now bitcoin has been changed into other crypto, so it is totally awful for bitcoin, because now Bitcoin has already achieved popular place than other crypto currencies and thats why people are trust it and use it. So i don't think it would be possible in future.

The price and the popularity of the Ethereum is going up at the moment. It also has faster confirmation time. It might replace bitcoin.

If something big happened to bitcoin and make the price of bitcoin goes down and even only have small price, i'm sure bitcoin will be replaced by another cryptocurrency.

The only other crypto currency I can think of replacing the bitcoin is the Ethereum. Many bitcoiners are buying it.
I think it will be tough going and I do not say no because I see ethereum continue growing steadily but I think still long to expect ethereum can replace bitcoin.

Every altcoin is paired against bitcoin. Even them ethers are traded againat bitcoin.
Like all stocks are paired with USD, all shitcoins pair w btc. BTC will never die.

many of these altcoins are also paired with USD and other fiat currencies like EUR. that is no reason for bitcoin and not dying of it Cheesy
although i am saying the same thing bitcoin is not going to be replaced by these altcoins but the reason for it is those altcoins are not good enough to be able to take bitcoin place.

I dont think this will happend, just in case if gouverment makes a new coin and all the peoples will know it , but thats not possible

Yup it's natural if you don't think that way, because the bitcoin is perfect for time now. But I'm sure one day surely bitcoin cryptocurrency will be replaced by a far superior and profitable. But time is still very long, so we can still benefit greatly in the bitcoin

It is possible but i don't think m-Eth or similar pump&dump scamcoins will succeed it. It can be done by only big companies like Microsoft, Apple, Google etc. Even if those companies wanted to have their own global currency, they need to make huge investments which may result in failing everything.

That's why bitcoin needs to fail first to get replaced by something else. Only after that there will be a new one.

Last time i searched about ethereum it was said that there is no hard limit on number of ethereum ever mined, So i dont think it is wise to hold ethereum for long time.

I think  so. The Ethereum trading volume is even higher than the bitcoin at the moment. So people are interested in it.
Maybe ETH is raised their moment with higher volume and passing the BTC but, if you know the ending of ETH traders is come back into bitcoin when they wanna to exchange their ETH into fiat balance. Cool

Correct. Just trading it back and forth. Using ETH and BTC as a means of making more fiat. Small or large profit will be accepted as long there is. Seen one that does this and he always want to boast it in me.

I mine the Ethereum and then trade it against the bitcoin. After I get more bitcoin, I will withdraw from exchanges.

well, ethereum getting a lot of attention of crypto currency users. and bitcoiners also. but I don't think it can replace bitcoin ever.
it may get a good place in market(already have quite good) but replacing bitcoin is not easy. bitcoin is the only and first crypto currency and it is un-replaceable now.

Bitcoin is still a new thing, it is still getting bigger, however bitcoin is a precursor of cryptocurrency.
That is the reason i think that we may see some other crypto getting bigger, because we will see new upgrades, solution coming in- and bitcoin will be just old-fashioned.
No. it is not true. bitcoin won't become old-fashioned man. aren't you seeing that bitcoin is getting accepted in new sites, big shopping sites and big products?
there is no other coin which getting that much attention.
That's happen because bitcoin already have a good value than other coins if bitcoin back to 1$ the acceptance of it will stop, and they will find other good coin. If bitcoin will never crash that's a good view and it's good for long term..

I think if something better came along, this could be possible.  But looking at the altcoin scene, I see absolutely nothing that will even come close to replacing bitcoin.  It has first mover advantage, name recognition, and a lot of other plusses.  And any coin would have to have some huge advantage that would make btc look like a dinosaur.  I don't see it happening any time soon, if ever.

Bitcoin does everything important people expect from it. Sending and receiving money, store of value, investment tool, blockchain where data can be stored, and so on. There is really no point into having another coin to take over. Every coin, no matter how great and useful it is, it will be nothing more than an altcoin.

actually it could happen if there would better, faster and more popular crypto, but at this moment there are none like this so probably nothing will change bitcoin

there is a possibility that bitcoin will be replaced by some more advance, user friendly  altcoin in the future.  I say it so because in this world the only permanent is change.  We can have this strong belief that no one can replace bitcoin but it is still an assumption.  If only bitcoin can evolve and adopt all the advance featurs of it's counter part in crypto currency then it is impossible for it to be replaced.
i dont see it as a possible thing because bitcoin will always be better than any other currencies in the cryptoworld, in my opinion from now on bitcoin is going to get only more popular
