I hope not. I guess if this happens, there will start a 'fight' between these two: the prices. The other cryptocurrency miners will want higher price than BTC and vice-versa. But that might mean a total failure for one of them..

Yes. Like all technology it will become deprecated one day and replaced by another technology. Proof-of-Work is already turning out to be a failed technology because it centralizes the miners with the most wealth and this will lead to PoW deprecation. Remember, Bitcoin is just an experiment and until it is code stable and a complete and easy solution it can still fail. Wink

The bitcoin will adopt the next technologes and evolve. So there bitcoin itself will not die, it will improve.
thats true, bitcoin code is getting better and better over time so i doubt that we will have any problems about bitcoin being replaced by any other cryptos
yes you can see that the people are getting more and more confident and they are investing their money here. there fore bitcoin is now getting more and more stable. therefore it is impossible that any other currency can take its place.

I don't know in Future it may happen I am not sure. But at present in cryptocurrency world, The Bitcoin is the leader for all coins. Yes, there are many cryptocurrencies there. But no one can touch the Bitcoin price. And the usage of Bitcoin is very easy. All gamblers are like to use this Bitcoin for betting. So I think now no other currency will replace Bitcoin.
i think bitcoin will surely remain the leader of all the cryptocurrencies that we will ever have because a lot of people are already into it and they will keep on buying it in the future

Bitcoin is not going to be replaced by another cryptocurrency because it is the first one and most successful one. It is almost impossible to make another cryptocurrency and raise it to the top, beyond Bitcoin. Nothing is impossible, but it is really hard to believe that Bitcoin will ever be replaced by another cryptocurrency. And why would you want to believe in that? What is so bad about Bitcoin ? I do not see any problems, the currency is great.

It might be replaced by many cryptocurrencies if it does not achieve what it was supposed to in the first place.
And what it will be that 'thing' bitcoin supposedly needs to achieve? Total world domination? Bitcoin used by everyone with internet access in the world?
How many years it will pass when we will know for sure that bitcoin has failed us?  There is too many question here and no specific answers.

No any specific answers would be impossible to give, it could go either way. I think btc will not be replaced by some other coin, but it will upgrade witht the time or people lose interest at some point and it will vanish.

I don't think that bitcoin will be vanished, there are a lot of supporters for bitcoin and they will work hard for it to make it long lived currency, and it is the master of crypto currencies and if it lost its position people will also lose trust on altcoins, so the owners of altcoins also support to continue bitcoin to give life to crypto world.

Stop for a moment and think - why exactly bitcoin is do unique? Because it is most technologically advanced coin? Nah, there are more sophisticated coins on the market.

So why bitcoin is the king of cryptocurrencies?

The barrier is very high, we have seen many contenders and none have thus far been able to.

One thing all altcoins have in common is that they will end up drying out. No one serious will invest money in altcoins because of they think it has a good future potential. It's just the fact that altcoins are being pumped and dumped constantly, which makes them interesting for short term traders.
Short term traders gets benefited in bitcoin too. That don't make much difference. Many have tried to create better protocols, but nothing ever overtook TCPIP nor HTTP nor FTP either for their respected roles... This clearly means that no altcoin you can create today is ever going to overtake bitcoin. No matter how advanced it is.

Yes it could happen but i doubt very much it will happen the short to medium term, to actually make bitcoin obsolete would be a achievement.
It can happen but Bitcoin is the most popular cryptocurrency so I do not believe that it is going to be taken over by a other cryptocurrency.
The chance is bigger the Bitcoin will take over a other currency.

Yes and its not easy to replace bitcoin as if we talk about digital currency then I think bitcoin is the best and it will be very hard for any other crypto to replace it very easily.
yes  i am agree with you. i think other crypto currencies may be replaced by bitcoin, but bitcoin will not replace by any other currency. because bitcoin can maintain its position very easily.

What any other cryptocurrency can take place of bitcoin, it doesn't make any sense to me because nothing can survive in long term like this real and only crytpocurrency.

Yes and if we find any new and innovative currency that holds better features then bitcoin then people will definitely switch to that currency as every one wants to make good profits.

So far, bitcoin is the only major digital coin. The second coin is the Ethereum. If that survive the recent crisis, it could be big.
yes there is no doubt about this that bitcoin is the world number one crypto currency but on number two now we can see the One con has taken the place o Ethereum. now we can that after bitcoin One coin is the world second crypto currency. but still bitcion does not need for any currency and it can continue its status without bitcoin.
