There are many cryptocurrencies that have potential in the market but the way I see it, it's currently impossible to replace bitcoin on top. Other coins have a long way to go before they reach where bitcoin is now. Bitcoin is the foundation of all cryptocurrency, it will be hard for them to replace it unless many of its users will abandon bitcoin and switch to another coin.

Wish for the rain? Then deal with the mud too.
Possibly yes. Lots of inventions, innovation and discoveries are yet to appear. May be new crytocurrency or something that could be form as a money in virtual world might be invent or discover one day, that is highly possible specially this time around. Also, getting bitcoin to be rotten is neither near nor far because bitcoin is not always and it will not be always here, bitcoin is decentralized so if people continuesly using and mining to earn bitcoin means bitcoin will exist and if they stop bitcoin might not never be exist or sort of getting obsolete.

There's a lot of crypto that trends every year and some says that it'll replace bitcoin. Folks no one can replace the mother of all,  it is at the top of food chain so meaning if btc will be gone for sure everything will follow. (some of you might contradict this but this is my insight about this). But none of us can predict what will happen in the future whether or not btc will be replaced.

Correct, bitcoin can't be replaced by any other altcoins. If bitcoin ends so does other altcoins in the market. Altcoins just depend on the BTC's price in the market.
We cannot really say that, maybe for now it will depend but in the event bitcoin will disappear, there will be new coin that will take its place.
The market is big and there are a lot of coins that are growing because they have real value also, but let's not hope it will reach to that situation, I want to see bitcoin and altcoins progress together.

As the gap closes each year, I don't see why this is impossible. Bitcoin has reached its peak while some developing alt coins are advancing faster with lesser mistakes.

I doubt bitcoin will survive for a hundred years. Im pretty sure it won't and will be replaced by new and more advance coins.
The coins we are seeing are the first generation coins. There will be a second generation for sure and so on.

Only time will tell what will happen with Bitcoin's future. One thing for sure, is that there are a lot of new cryptocurrencies out there with better technology and even vision than Bitcoin to provide a global payment system with extremely cheap fees. Since Bitcoin's fees are constantly increasing, it may decrease its share in the market while other altcoins take the lead.

Also, if Bitcoin doesn't come up with a scaling solution soon, then another cryptocurrency may become king in the next years. Most recently, Bitcoin Cash has increased in traction with its 8mb block size making many Bitcoin users switch over to this alternative cryptocurrency. While I'm not in favor of big blocks (as it further centralizes the cryptocurrency), I believe that BCH may replace Bitcoin as digital money if the pioneer cryptocurrency doesn't do anything about addressing scalability issues soon.

Nevertheless, perhaps we will see a future where Bitcoin will remain as king of crypto but only to become used as a store of value, while Bitcoin Cash may take the lead in cheap, peer to peer electronic payments. Just my opinion. Smiley

More like bitcoin will be a gold and some other altcoin will be dollars. Is that what you are saying? I guess altcoins will still have a long way to go to do it.

However, at the moment there are very few crypto-currencies that dpat outperforms bitcoin prices, but although there are some crypto-currencies that are more expensive than bitcoins, nevertheless, the crypto currency is even less popular in bitco-appeal.
No its not possible that bitcoin will be replaced by other crypto because bitcoin is now very stable in market and it have a very big support bitcoin by it self replaced a lot of crypto from market its users are increasing day by day which give more energy to it and in coming time bitcoin will go more strong and high if bitcoin become legal around the world so there is no doubt that it can be an international currency and will end world poverty.
Surely it right bitcoin does have more than millions of investors right now, I cannot say that it will ever be replaced by any other currency ever. Not even in market demand it is not possible for another currency to beat bitcoin and replace it, it is hard for any currency to give anyone that much opportunities and best return for bitcoin replacement and giving another best currency today.

For the crypto world, coins come and coins go, but what I think is that bitcoin will always be there. Technically, bitcoin may not be perfect, but it will be there as a benchmark for other altcoins. By the way, I think that bitcoin cash is very much undervalued compared to bitcoin.

Does it make sense to believe that Bitcoin could one day be replaced by another cryptocurrency, that is, a cryptocurrency that really does make Bitcoin obsolete?

bitcoin if first  cryptocurrency with massive supporters and limited number will make it number 1 and will keep it’s first number.

it will replace by other in future but we will die before that

It is possible that bitkoyn can be ever replaced by another, more promising crypto currency. If bitkoyn, as recently, will not be improved technologically and eliminate its shortcomings, it is possible that a more perfect digital coin will take the place of the leader of the crypto currency. However, starting from the New Year, a lightning network will be introduced in Bitcomyn, which will eliminate the current shortcomings of bitcoins, namely, the slowness of transactions and the high cost of commissioning for them. Therefore, it seems that it is not going to give away its leader to the crypto currency.

Well if that's true that there will be an improvement going on in bitcoin, then I don't think bitcoin will be ever replaced by any altcoins in the market.
We need to wait the decision from devs of Bitcoin and the whale. If they want to make the price of Bitcoin increases more high price, I think next reason will be upgrade the Bitcoin system, example SegWit2x or lightning network ...

I think it cannot be replaced in a short term. Adding that bitcoin today is so powerful. May be it will take long long years for bitcoin to be replaced.

Anything could happen, but I do not think it will happen soon, bitcoin is at its peak and it is more popular than any atcoins due to volume and its supporters. I am also a bitcoin enthusiast so my trust and confidence of bitcoin is very high as it could become the global currency in the future.

Also include the facts that all other coins just rely on bitcoin's price in the market. Once the bitcoin price go down, altcoins also follow.

This question was a funny things few days ago because we all know how bitcoin powerful is. But now, as we are seeing how it is decreasing day by day we have to make a small self-revision and try to make an overview because at this stage of weakness, bitcoin can be replaced in few months. We all hope not to happen so.

Bitcoin Cash has the potential of replacing Bitcoin in my opinion, Its now the second most valuable cryptocurrency after Bitcoin ans it started only six months ago. Because its lower transaction fees and bigger block size, people are inclined to go in for it rather than bitcoins and they are already doing that.
