As long as the bitcoins didn't mine all, it will stay at the top, but probably there is a high chance that it will be replaced not today but it will soon.

Maybe I should sell my BTC these days  Shocked
Selling right now is not a good idea because of this current situation of market you will earn nothing but a low income. For me, do not sell your bitcoin just keep on holding and believing in bitcoin. I hope you will not sell bitcoin and just wait more time.
Maybe your are right the it is not time to sell, but you can stop someone who want to sell their cryptocurrencies because they also scared that they could lose all their entire money. I guess no one can defeat bitcoin and I know bitcoin will still number 1 cryptocurrencies.

For now I think bitcoin will still remain upright in the first position. But if we look far ahead there are many possibilities for bitcoin to be defeated, because along with the times and the number of new investors coming in it will change their trust in other coins with more great technology.
for now honestly there is no single coin that can take the trust of bitcoin from users, bitcoin is still the main choice to hold and invest, bitcoin will survived for the next few years, bitcoin hasn't reached its golden era so I think bitcoin won't be replaced next year or the next few years

The crypto market volume is still high and this is the enthusiasm of the holders in crypto, btc is still valuable and will improve the system, especially the btc supply is still there, and people will return to mining to get btc back.
That's right, and we are gonna repeat the past, what happened in 2017 is a best year for crypto and I don't mind if it take years to make it happen
as long as crypto will stay and will continue to get adoption. In time, there's always the best year, and those who hold will be entitled for that.

People who have lost faith are the ones who are just here to make themselves rich and believed that its a rich quick scheme.

I agree 100%

2017 was a crazy year and terms like 'parabolic' became mainstream.

What we saw in 2018 was the 2017 hangover. Bitcoin is still worth several times more than in early 2017.

The only way I see BTC going to "zero" is if a serious security flaw is found in it. E.G. the ECC is cracked or something revolutionary like that. Else there'll always be buyers when it becomes cheap enough.
It was the "bubble" that every skeptic believed and missed that run so they keep on telling such words that would discourage new investors.

They won't look at the past charts, they only look at the current prices that can disappoint current and new investors.

Crypto currency seems to cold down these days and many people have lost faith in the past few months...

People find most token are fake indeed, what they have was just a whitepaper.

I think most of them will die in the next year.

But what about Bitcoin?

As the first and the most influential one, Bitcoin is still weak with numerous restrictions.

Maybe it will fall into the ground due to the political factors, or beaten by other token which is better.

 Huh

NO political factors would able to beat up bitcoin.Yes, its price did go down on this year since from ATH but it doesn't mean that it is already defeated. When you do tried to look up the dominance
among other coins its still the king of all cryptos and I agree that most of coins do only have WP but doesn't have innovational benefits and this situation will prove out on coins which
do have potential and which doesn't have.

Both things are possible to happen. In my opinion, government will most certainly create( if they already haven't) coin, their coin, that will be fully acceptable as paying method.
And you are kinda right about alts, lots of them might be or are scams or projects that are not good enough. Those have no bright future.
Losing faith is logical for those who look on bitcoin and other crypto currency  as short term investment and I am sure that there are lots of them out there.

Many altcoins are likely to die when the dominance of bitcoin starts to increase. And telling that bitcoin is weak, I don't know at what charts you are looking at. Don't look to daily charts.

Bitcoin won't be defeated that easy, just see the transaction volume, it indicates that there are still many people using it for transactions, this year is not a good year for bitcoin, but that doesn't mean bitcoin will die, bitcoin still the king with many places to used, it is impossible for other coin to replace for now, if bitcoin failed then crypto will have a big impact

 Huh

Although a lot of investors had a really tough time investing on  cryptocurrencies lately as a result of dropped price in fact many investors had played down on many of those so-called tokens which is obvious that they would become worthless come 2019 however much focus will be on bitcoin, ethereum, bch and other major Cryptos provided that both upcoming fundamental events  bakkt and SEC ETF comes out positive.

Well the future of bitcoin is always unpredictable, no one can say what will happen in the coming year and at that even if any token have failed due to their inability to survive the volatility of the cryptocurrency market does not mean bitcoin as the mother coin will also fail and why most tokens failed to succeed is due to the fact that the cryptocurrency market have suffered greatly this year 2018 but that can not determine the out come of bitcoin in 2019.

It is common nowadays that newbies seem to not understand the potential of Bitcoin when it is in a bearish trend. But one thing I'm sure is that all of them will flip everything and forget what they have said when Bitcoin is in its bullishness.

We have all been there during times that there is a price correction and most of these people will say the same way as what OP said.

after falling from $20.000 to $4.000, is obvious many people would abandon cryptos, we can not ignore a price drop of $20.000 to $4.000

People find most token are fake indeed, what they have was just a whitepaper.

the problem is that these altcoins not have great use in real life, they only serve to solve problems on the internet, are not used as a means of payments or do not have partnerships with many companies in real life

But what about Bitcoin?

As the first and the most influential one, Bitcoin is still weak with numerous restrictions.

unfortunately I must agree with you, most countries have corrupt governments and dictators, and they will not accept bitcoin so soon, the years pass and  we do not listen to at least 3 countries a year regulating bitcoin, the global regulation still a great mirage

 Huh Only time will tells.

If there is one altcoins that would emerge with low supply and has a good product usage, then maybe we can say that it might beat Bitcoin. Maybe in the future but as of now, as far as we can see, Bitcoin is still the best crypto right now.

You're right, if we can find that altcoin, then we own the future Grin
Bad news is that I can't even know which altcoin is able to survive in the next few year.
It will be great help if there is any tool for analysis.

Why do we need to find that one altcoin? You want to be an "early adopter",
you feel you missed the boat with bitcoin because its FIAT value is too high
for you.

Looks like you are wishing to know the future, how can anyone analyse the
future in a decentralised technology, its impossible.

As long as the bitcoins didn't mine all, it will stay at the top, but probably there is a high chance that it will be replaced not today but it will soon.

Maybe I should sell my BTC these days  Shocked

This is a typical newbie way of thinking, sell at the most inoportune time.
"You only lose if you sell at a loss"

You also need to spend more time on the forum and read posts by people
who were here before 2017.
Bitcoin is healthier now than it was last year, altcoins generally re not in a
good place.

Bitcoin will not be defeated in any time soon. Not 2019 and certainly not 2029. It is just going stronger and stronger every single day. If you look at 2018 and say the price has dropped a lot and there is a risk you are missing out on the news that many huge corporations have been investing money heavily into crypto projects and they are still bullish on the long term.

There is a wall street backed crypto exchange now, poloniex was acquired by circle which is backed by JP Morgan or something like that, even the silly cat game got funded 15 million dollars this year. Basically the rich money has been pouring into crypto for the whole year because they know if they invest early enough they could make a lot more money in the future. They are not betting on the price of bitcoin but they are betting on the increasing interest towards crypto.

You're right about cold down, it is winter on the northern hemisphere and BTC under the influence of cold weather Smiley

Let's leave joking aside, your thinking is typical for the beginner who first heard of BTC in 2017 or maybe even this year. BTC has its own cycles what is visible if his short history is viewed, and after last year big pump correction has followed as always. Now we are in bear market, most people just think same as you, other who are smart and look at the broader picture just buy more these days.

I can agree that the good part of altcoins/tokens will disappear in the near or far future, they simply have no purpose and they are created with the aim that some people become rich.

Long-term only BTC and maybe few other altcoins will survive and BTC has the best chance for that for several reasons:

1. It is first and decentralized cryptocurrency, the most recognizable in the world.
2. It has a limited supply.
3. It can be used for payments, with SegWit and LN fees are almost negligible.
4. It can be used as store of value.

There are so many tokens in the market, which means numerous possibilities.
It's not impossible that Bitcoin defeated by others some day, but there is no doubt that Bitcoin is still the best one now.
You are right about this one, there are future consequences for Bitcoin being the pioneer in cryptocurrencies and that is you can do little to add as much new features as you can unlike new ICOs where they can based their ideas in existing ICOs. There is no doubt that Bitcoin is still dominating the market but it is evident that its dominance is slowly being taken away from it by other emerging cryptocurrencies, the problem here is we cannot do anything for Bitcoin as it is bound to happen as every year competition for market dominance gets tougher and tougher, the only choice we have left is of course profit from other coins you think will be better than Bitcoin in the future.
