I doubt the #2 coin based on market cap will vanish any time soon.  There would have to be a monumental failure for such a thing to occur.  Even then, it is likely to have code forked and altered from a state from before, giving it continued life.

I know, this question is ridiculous.  If this somehow happened the entire crypto market and stock market would be doomed and the world would have to be ending.

I'm definitely sure that in the next few years situation on cryptomarket will change and we will see a huge growth. And if we talk about ETH I suppose that it's impossible to destroy this currency because it has a big community and really good technology.

Ethereum will survive, without a doubt, it has the strongest development team, the strongest roadmap and the strongest ecosystem of all other cryptocurrencies. For the one who really figured out what people create on Ethereum

Ethereum is a great project but there is another projects which has much better features and could win the race. But I think that Ethereum has a great team and a great community and it will survive for sure.
It is true that many competitors with very interesting features have appeared lately but that is simply not enough to make ethereum disappear, ethereum has such a great advantage over its competitors that is going to be very difficult for them to overcome that advantage unless those projects are many times better than ethereum, and right now I do not think this is true.

Diminishing price of Ethereum will not affect its current reputation and state as no. 2 cryptocurrency. Major altcoins are based on Ethereum network. So, there is no need to worry. Price can change in an instant but the development and progress will ultimately make the token valueable.

Liberated Forever. Domesticated Never.

I believe we don’t have to worry about the future of ETH. In a short time, the team will implement major updates. A little patience is needed.)

I concur. There's no need to worry about Ethereum's future, since a lot of developers are working on it to make it the strongest and robust smart contract platform in existence. Aside from that, Ethereum has an enigmatic leader who's always looking for the benefit of the project. There are a lot of scalability improvements in the works, and every day a lot of people are interested into acquiring Ethereum to get access to other ERC-20 or ERC-721 tokens.

As a matter of fact, it'll be nearly impossible for Ethereum to vanish since it's going to have the same strength and reliability of Bitcoin within the future. I think this moment is ideal to grow your stack of ETH coins before everything heads back to normal. Because, I'm sure that once Casper and Sharding comes into effect within the Ethereum blockchain, then there will be FOMO across the whole cryptocurrency market. Roll Eyes

I think the Ethereum won't disappear. And you have already seen this for yourself. I understand where you're coming from, all because of the drop in prices. But if you analyze what is happening, you will understand that even though the price of Ethereum has fallen, it has not lost its value, and has not lost all this time.

EndChain - Complete Logistical Solution

it will never happen, because Ethereum is very strong and many ICOs use Ethereum as payment, so Ethereum will always survive and will never vanish, although now many coins have functions like Ethereum, but I still believe that Ethereum is the best of the others.

Almost every coin suffered from price correction from last year high.  Ethereum will have its price back to 1200 but the question is when.  If ethereum blockchain will be upgraded and new features added, then the time to reach new highs will be soon.

The Standard Protocol - Solving Inflation
October 09, 2018, 08:17:16 AM
Ethereum is performing very poor in the market in terms of its value due to dumping of ethereum due to ICOs and its slower development to solve the scalability issues. They need to expedite their development on scalability to solve the network clogging due the huge traffic else soon ethereum will vanish. Since long time a lot of news we are hearing about ethereums development to solve scalling solution but we haven't seen it yet. According to this article https://smartereum.com/34488/ethereum-foundation-will-launch-a-scaling-solution-this-year/
The Ethereum Foundation will launch at least one scaling solution before the end of this year according to one of its representatives.
Virgil Griffith, representative of the Ethereum Foundation Special Projects, during a panel session at the Consensus Singapore conference, confirmed that the organization is working on a number of solutions to its scaling problems. According to him, an implementation is expected this year.

Hopefully this will happen and not turned out to be a figure of speech.

ETH is now king of the Altcoins until he disappears. Soon there will be updates that should speed up the network, which will positively affect the price.

I understand that you wanted to say that nothing bad will happen to the project and everything will be great? I think that this is exactly what you meant, so I support your opinion on this matter because I think so too.

I am sure that Ethereum in current state will vanish pretty soon, because it is developing day by day. However, Vitalik need to do something with gas price, because it is too big and it really slows the development process. When solution will be found, Ethereum will rise again.

I do not think that Ethereum will disappear, it is one of the best coins in the crypto-currency market and if Ethereum disappears, then what to expect from other coins. I think that Ethereum is stuck in a drawdown for a long time, but it will survive and start to grow again.
