No way that Initial coin offerings will die coming year but yeah we may see more countries bringing regulations into this like USA. Also I think that there would be no crazy money going into ICO's anymore and VC funded/backed ICO's will be the new trend.

I don't think ICO will die in 2018. The reason being that as an ICO ends, another one will kick start. If an ICO project is viable and has good future prospect, it will thrive definitely.

I hope the ICO craze will end soon.

I don't think cryptos should be mixed with startups/kickstarters. Cryptos should be trustless, transparent and decentralized, ICOs are none of those things so using a blockchain platform doesn't really offer any benefits to them, in fact just giving a bad name to cryptos.

But a lot of crypto-newbies gamble with them thinking they know what they're doing and that crypto is all about pumping and dumping random "projects". These people ignore, or not even aware what crypto stands for and just giving a bad name to it. And they will eventually get burned and hate cryptos altogether. Profits aren't made from nothing, it comes from other people's losses.
But some made millions on it. Bountiea altcoins can be a pain in signature or trading  but take advantage of it while it is usable or has normal price to profit with. It is possible though that ICO's will not exist cause it was discussed by theymos and his colleageus to put up more barriers towards altcoins and other abusive matter.

I don't think so ico will die soon, some of them having good team project and successful into pre-sale. But yes, there need some regulation about how to protect investor fund with refund policy when the project failed to reach goal achievement. But, we can be deny it many of them are build/created for speculation only means will going to scam if project was unsuccessful.

This can only happen if most states prohibit ICO. This is unlikely. Although some regulation will soon appear

ICO won't die.  think,  hybrid blockchains can appear. Until now we’ve seen a proliferation of both public blockchains like bitcoin and private blockchains like Hyperledger Fabric. Going forward, I think we’ll start to see the rise of hybrid blockchains, which combine the best of both worlds.

Base  on the amount of  investment in the space, sure ICO won't die in 2018,ICO in 2018 will become more valuable, Project without product or service in the space will tend to extinct, more fake Project will still crip into the space, calling for caution for all investors.Project with fake hype is sure to fixle out,

ICO will stay afloat, even my estimation in 2018 will emerge many new ICO than in 2017. because most people are now interested to invest in ICO, therefore many ICO will also emerge.

I dont think by the same way as you, icos are a good thing after all.

Maybe without them, there would not even be a quarter of all the altcoins that are on the top 20 at the moment.

yes i do believe ico will be more ico coming in 2018. regarding pause of the ico i believe its related to vacation near the end of the year. there will be more company businesses that will adopt blockchain and use ico as the best way go fud money to doing businesses.

Despite whatever problems there might be with the ICO model, it has the fundamental advantage over the traditional VC model of helping projects bootstrap a user base from the ranks of their token buyers. It's getting more and more difficult for startups to compete with giant corporate monopolies that have network effects, so ICOs are kind of a miracle since they give new companies a fighting chance against the incumbents.

As long as still money there, it will last forever. Once the money dried up there will be no more ICO.

Yes, I'm sure that it'll change, but I hope that changes will be positive

ico is the most popular way to set up an project and raise dev fud, so i think in the coming years

ico will not dead unless all countries ban it,

What do you think about the attempts of some countries to take control of the crypto currency?

The only reason why ICOs can die would be if the countries begin banning them. So often we have seen countries like China completely banning every single cryptocurrency activity and if the remaining countries also begin to follow its lead, then maybe ICOs will ban. Also, there is a chance that the companies would stop promoting ICOs because of the increased number of scams that have rocked this market over the last few years. So many times we have witnessed companies run away with people's money and that has to stop.

I don't think ICOs will go away completely, but I believe we will see a decrease in quantity and an increase in quality. People are now more aware of the scammy ICOs and their tactics so when the money for them goes away, they will follow shortly. That's only my opinion though, you can never know with crypto..
