While our altcoins keep depreciating in value daily as we keep vigil for altseason, bitcoin dominance has crossed 70% and keeps growing in strength. Will there really be an altseason.

Since 2013? You could count a few altcoins seasons that have boomed since then, altcoins weren't even so popular until the recent hype in 2017. Sadly, with all the hype also came so many opportunistic scammers that took advantage of new people in crypto. My opinion is THERE ARE altcoin seasons, nobody can tell if the next one will be as huge as the previous ones, but time will come when at least some of these altcoin projects will finally be realized.

One of the advantages of Bitcoin dominance is we have fewer and fewer scam projects, they know that they are not going to get funded because everybody are on Bitcoin, I'm 100% positive that there will be altcoin season but only altcoins that have potential in the market, not a pump and dump altcoins.

I think this could be like you said because the price condition of bitcoin which is not too good anymore makes traders disappointed because before Bitcoin is said there will be bakt that makes prices go up but instead it is only FUD so many traders are more turning to altcoin to try to take advantage of the moment on altcoin.
Partly the investor is unhappy with the fall of Bitcoin. And just against this background, perhaps the investor will now come to Altcoins. This is due to the fact that coins are at the lowest price ranges.

It's a very dark and pessimistic article, but many of his points are correct.

Blind hodling a project (like his example namecoin), without monitoring its future potential will make you rekt. You must not fall in love with some alt and hodl it for ever and ever. You must always be a researcher.

We should think simple. The market always has a repetitive cycle and it is our job to choose a good time to buy or sell. When bitcoin increases the alts decrease, that's a kind of case. The second case is that the alts rebound and bitcoin stabilizes or decreases, which is usually case 2.
These are two cases of rotation to make the market become vibrant and volatile. Therefore, I always believe that the alts will come but we need to be alert to choose a good time to buy or sell.

Bitcoin dominance is also starting to get lower. I can smell that this is the time for its own recovery while most alts are struggling to even recover, this probably the time to see them on greens again. This doesn't mean because we see them green now, they'll go green forever. I think the pattern starts when the decrease of bitcoin dominance starts, this is my opinion into this alt season. This is not an advice to everyone and this is all about my opinion again, if ever someone is taking this as advice.
I see nothing but a small increase in the current situation. Maybe the market will go in the direction we want and we will end these conversations but when that happens it will probably be without cause so I am afraid of giving anybody any advice. Anyway I hope it happens as you say and those who evaluate this situation as a opportunity will not regret it.

The adjustment was imminent. Alts were quite hyped up back in 2017 when the bull market happened where the bitcoin dominance index was essentially artificially low for a long while because of the fact that people were looking for cheap and quick profits.

This is a different era altogether now. Institutional investors seek to invest in BTC more than anything, which is most likely why there is so much more demand for BTC in comparison to alts.

But some alts, like ETH, LTC etc. I think are undervalued in accordance to their long term averages, and could see bull runs sooner or later.

Unfortunately, but the season for altcoins will not come until the bull run on Bitcoin begins. History tells us that large and rapid price increases are in periods of Bitcoin halving, so it will be in the middle of next year.
In my opinion, this is the worst time to sell and the best time to buy altcoins.  Wink

To enter the growth cycle, the cryptocurrency market needs to drop to a low level of capitalization. I hope that the capitalization of the market does not fall below 150 billion dollars.
I think that the market cap has already drop enough and not until the market cap zeroes before we welcome the new altcoin season, I don’t think it is about market capitalization dropping zero or not, I think it is about the projects called altcoins having a catalyst that will set the market on fire again and spark the heart of people to start rushing to buy altcoins.

Right now, I do not see the enthusiasm in people buying altcoins again as they are so cold to it because of the bad status of altcoins, which is the reason for the dominance of bitcoin this period as many people do not want to get involved in altcoin investment again, I just hope that we will still see altcoin season as the only season that is on now is the bitcoin season which I know that will be in the market till next year when it decided to consolidate for altcoins.

I expect a ton of folks sold their alts at a terrible loss, and as crypto things tend to go, that means altseason is just around the corner. I'm waiting for what I sold to skyrocket, while my holdings stagnate -- and the crypto gods can laugh in glee.

That's usually how it goes! I've basically forgotten about my altcoin bags at this point. No point selling all the way down here. For the small amount of money it would net to sell them now, I'd rather view them as lottery tickets.

But the fact that so many junkcoins were delisted probably will be one major reason why I don't think the next altseason will result in a zillion coins all increasing in value, even complete junk.

New listings might be a bit sparser than 2017. My overall assumption is that if it's listed on a decent exchange, it will pump.

It sometimes we/I think that this year isn't good for altcoins nor to see a bullish season for cryptocurrency. We could only see to have such bullish again if Bitcoin could help it out and move also but it was missing today instead we saw it going down. Not to be really disappointed but it sounds like that, and I believe that there is no bull run this year.
We looking forward to seeing it next year as another BTC halving come. will it hope that it triggers market pumps and lead to bullish?

There will definitely be another altcoin season. It may not happen until a) you've sold all your alts or b) the alts you are holding have all been delisted. Markets are cruel like that. Wink

The ETHBTC daily chart still looks strong, holding up really well against the dump in BTC. Keeping hope alive....

But the fact that so many junkcoins were delisted probably will be one major reason why I don't think the next altseason will result in a zillion coins all increasing in value, even complete junk. Besides investors being somewhat smarter now, there simply won't be exchanges offering certain coins anymore. And dinky little exchanges usually can't handle the sort of volume we saw in 17.

But if altcoin season does come, I wonder if it'll come top down, or reverse... meaning ETH leads the way, then it trickles down to smaller cap coins. Or mid-smaller cap first? It's been so long I forget how altcoin seasons tend to begin. Or maybe some new alts will spur the charge.

Good question and I often wonder myself if I'm just another hamster in the world just running on my own little treadmill, running running and chasing this loop that never ends.

I know it's not important anymore who created Bitcoin and why (if there are any real reasons) but sometimes with alts especially I wonder what the whole point is and if we're all just getting on a ride.

I believe the point is getting profit.  Several of those old story about "rags to riches" inspires us to get involved in cryptocurrency.  Riding on a certain altcoinboat that can give you a huge profit is a grat thing.  I myself profited from this one and enables me to buy myself a place to live that I can call my own but if there are ups there is also downs, and after the year 2017, all my altcoin investment goes down more than 90% of its original value, lucky I did not invest all my profit and saved 30% of it.  Another thing here is to know when we have to exit the loop and reenter it again.  It's hard but I believe it is doable.

I started to read it, but this guy seems like an arrogant fool. I got as far as "About me: They call me Grandpa Bitcoin. They also call me “The Swede.”"

Well well today Alts are doing good while Bitcoin didn't really move much
So if there's an Alt season, i hope it will be within this period because based off what happen today, Alts proven that they are currently looking to acquire more market share in the crypto market

Dominance has drop from 71% to 68% (Today)
Growth in relation to bitcoin is still insignificant so it is too early to conclude about the Alt season.

Agreed, too early, but at least it's moving in the right direction. What was it over the summer, around the 55% mark? If dominance slips below 60%, I'd consider it a good sign. I think we may know more after Bakkt goes live -- right now it looks like whatever boost btc was going to get from it was cooked in, but too early to say. And it could be a double-edged sword, as besides investors having an easier way to buy into btc, it's also easier to short it as well.
