If you're like that obeying what your girlfriend tells you then prepare to be under her when you get married, there's always a line on what you can obey from her recommendations, if it something that is harmful to you or will hinder you to have a strong relationship then yeah I will obey but not because she insists but because its the right thing to do.


I don't think I will, I am not a compulsive gambler and if he wants more time for us he can ask me, not to the point that she will insist that I should stop.

I think that's the right way of thinking... if someone gambles too much and it's causing them problems, then that person should think and listen to the advice of a close person, in this case, a girlfriend!

But if a girl just wants to change her boyfriend to suit her, then that guy needs to work on his character! A man should be able to make his own decisions about the things he likes to do, and how will he do them... I have a wife and I still gamble, sometimes when we are alone in the evenings she even watches me and I give her to choose which games/slot we will play!

It depends,usually not much people care about their girlfriend,she is the girlfriend and not the wife.Most people,the ones who are not addicted tend to obey to the wife as they do not want to risk a divorce or the family to go in ruin because of the gambling that they may like to do.

If you are addicted then most likely you do not really care nor for your girlfriend and nor for your wife,addiction make people lose their sense of the reality that they are surrounded by and a lot of times people have lost families because of gambling addiction.I have one colleague at my work who did,he says to me that she could not have children but I know it is not of that but because of gambling addiction that he has.

The answer can be yes and no depending on two scenarios.

It can be a no if firstly I do not see a future with my girlfriend and I understand that she is just trying to be controlling, secondly is that maybe gambling is the only activity that helps me relax which is important, and from my personal evaluation I am not ready to stop because I am not losing too much than I can accommodate. If she insists I may just tell her yes and continue to gamble in secret like many others do here which I see as unnecessary as it doesn't mean that i have stopped.

Then it's a complete yes if I personally have been wanting to stop first because of the effect it is having on my life be its economically or socially, and then with my girlfriend insists, someone that I love and see a future with it will make making the decision easier.

An interesting question lol, maybe not too related, but another angle to this- if your girlfriend insist that you stop gambling and then you secretly continue after telling her to her face that you have stopped, imagine a scenario where you win a huge amount of money and amount is too big that you can't hide and you need to come out plain to tell your girlfriend that you won the money from gambling. Do you think your girlfriend would leave you for telling a lie to her face or will forgive you and pardon you because of the money you have won?

The answer will vary greatly depending on how the person reacts to it. but this has never happened to me personally, for me for now gambling is just entertainment between activities after work. however, if such a thing happens, I will consider the request as a note if I overdo it when playing gambling. basically it is good for health in relationships as individuals.

Actually there is nothing to be an issue here , because Your girlfriend only wanted you to be out of addiction and possible bigger problem as she already knew what would be the outcome once gambling get inside of you.

though My Wife understand my gambling activities because i am not addicted , then i think there is no reason why she would ask me to stop playing and besides most of my winnings goes to her if lucky lol.

The fact that you have someone in your life telling you to stop gambling should be taken into consideration.

Maybe you're too deep in it and you're losing track of your finances.

It's just something that you need to consider, but in no way it's something that you should act immediately upon, just because someone mentioned something.

It is completely about my decision. I mean gambling or not gambling is what I personally do. My girlfriend can warn me about it but that's the most she can do. I won't let my own girlfriend make decisions about my life cause I know I am the one that will make most accurate decisions about my own  life. On the other hand too much gambling can be issue so its better to give ear to your girlfriend and at least pause it for some time, for your own health.

What if gambling is your way of relaxing or your destressing activity, and you only gamble a small portion of your regular savings? What if you only gamble when you're gathering with your family and friends and it doesn't happen all the time?

I think it's about is there a need to stop? If there is indeed a need to stop because your salary is drained because of it or that quality time with your girlfriend or family and friends is already affected, then you should stop. But if your girlfriend is just asking you to stop gambling because she doesn't want gambling, I don't think it is strong enough reason for me to stop.

A woman has the ability to make the home comfortable and uncomfortable. Sometimes they have different means to motivate or even force their man to do their bidding. If she observes that gambling is affecting our relationship or family lives and she comes up with proofs and genuine reasons why I should stop, then I might consider it. Since I don't gamble mainly because of profit it would be a little easier for me to quit. It also depends on the manner she drive down her points. If she wants to do it forcefully, then I might resist her plea if my gambling habit is not harmful. 

I think it depends on the situation if a small gambler has a girlfriend and his gambling habits are not affected too much in their relationship then they don't need to stop earlier but if a bigtime gambler and his gambling addiction affected their relationship maybe he needs to decide if he stops and chooses his girlfriend or he leaves his girlfriend and still a gambler.
And for me, if I am a gambler and I find a girlfriend I think it's good choice if I leave gambling and focus my relationship.

I'm not she's only my girlfriend and not yet my wife I will only obey if it's reasonable but if it's about jealousy I think I will obey.


It depends if it's about jealousy and I'm not a compulsive gambler I don't think I will obey her I will just find a way to give her more time or maybe play with her here in the casino but I made sure that it will all be for fun no big money involve or chasing losses.

My girlfriend/wife won't do that, im not that gambler who will bet everything i had in the first place, i just gamble occasionally. Girls will only suggest that kind of request if you are a gambler who is in the process to become addictive or somewhat addictive already in any form of gambling, or so...

Well everyone has their way of love and handling issues like this. All depend on the guy way of life. If the guy is not addicted to gambling then it is possible for him to stop gambling if he really love her and ready to marry her. but there is saying in the world that, if you can not convince them then you join them. They are some guys that convince their girl friend (s) to accept what they are doing. OP, I want to ask you a question. If your girl friend or boy friend has no any other job to bring money and give to you and the only job work you are doing is gambling and girl or boy friend ask you to stop gambling, what will you do? Me, I will not stop if gambling is the only thing I have in life to feed myself. But if she provide a job that better than gambling then I will stop it and do the one she ask me to do. Even at that, a gambler is always a gambler.

For having peace of mind towards your relationship and if you really respect your girl towards her like and don't maybe its good to follow her since put more priorities on your relationship over gambling since maybe she see to much on your activities that's why she insist on you to stop engaging on any gambling activities. But if you think you are in control maybe try to make her understand that you are playing for entertainment and for sure she understand everything if she really loves you.

That's the overall logic on this situation.

If you're a giver and you love your girlfriend, you'll be the one to give her what she wants and that is to stop and quit gambling. But if you're coming from the transition of being an addicted gambler, do you think that you can do easily?

Well, the patience is there and the girlfriend should understand that there's the process of quitting and it won't take that easy and quick as she might be expecting.

there are situations where the person is losing money constantly, the person moves away from everyone, the person is losing weight, the person doesn't eat and doesn't sleep well and then the girlfriend or wife starts to investigate the cause of this whole disaster and finds out that this is due to gambling, in which case the girlfriend or wife must patch it up to her boyfriend or husband who is going to consult the doctor, and if the doctor determines that the person needs to stop gambling because of health issue then the girlfriend or wife must do everything to prevent your husband or girlfriend from playing anymore. Of course, there is also a scenario where the man is spending all his money on gambling and the woman has a duty to forbid him to gamble because he is spending money. It's just that in this matter of money women spend a lot of money on meaningless things, so forbidding men to gamble can be unfair.

If gambling is a problem for the relationship then we must stop gambling if be fine with the girlfriend is a priority, if gambling is a priority for us then we should be ready to lose our girlfriend.

And this apply not just for our girlfriend, if some member of our family is worried about our gambling and let us know, he doesn't do it with bad intentions, that's just a warning about a bad vice.

It all depends on the situation if you think that you are gambling too much and your girlfriends think that you're getting too much of it and just want to help you and you really love her, so yes I will stop gambling its not easy to stop but I will obey her it's for the good of our relationship but if gambling is just recreational for me I will try to explain to her that I'm not very much into it and it's not harming my pocket and our relationship, your girlfriend loves you if he sees that you are involved in something that strains your relationship.

As they say, if you both each other then you'll let each other do the things that they like. A girlfriend that will stop you means that she doesn't like you being a gambler and the main reason, when somebody asks her about what you do and she'll say that you're a gambler then she might feel humiliated upon telling what you do. And that's why a girlfriend that tells you to stop what you do has that main reason unless you really are an addicted gambler and do things that are unstoppable and it affects both of your relationships.
