Altcoins trading on my opinion is a tough one to handle.Requires a lot of experience to be able to be successful. It also requires some luck plus your goof trading skills.

How much do i need to start trading altcoins. I would like to know what would be the ideal number.

Thanks!
It is necessary to proceed from your experience to thrust and to what extent you are backed up materially, only then can you begin

I would say you should start with 1/4 of your monthly  salary if you can afford it. You will need a lot of experience before you could trust yourself with higher amounts of money. If you loose your initial investment, it wont be that bad.

If there is idle money in the bank it can be entered into this market. It is too risky to take money by salary.
You can do it if you say your salary is high but you may need it in a month Smiley

Well...since investments grow by times in crypto-sphere - more you invest - more and faster you earn money, just it. I'd take 500$ as a minimal investment, maybe, or 1 ETH, if we speak about ICO's. If you will be lucky enough - you'll increase your money extremely fast.

It's depend on some factors.
  • your wealth
  • your experience
  • your going to trade or hold
If you have more extra money BTC you can invest more. But start with an amount that you can afford to lose. Don't invest all money you have. This field is high risk. No one can tell exactly what's happen in future.

We have the same question, but reading here makes me feel better because i dont have much fund to start trading.

If you are just starting out it might be a good thing you don't have much funds, better than having it and losing it all within a few months Wink

You can start trading with any amount. There is no minimum or maximum fund you can start trading with! The beauty of bitcoin and many altcoin is that they are divisible to a fraction of 100 million! So you do not have excuse not to trade and learn about cryptocurrency!

With any amount, you can start the crypto investment/ tradings...however there is a minimum transaction amount defined in each and every exchange or wallet. Therefore you should invest that required minimum amount at least.

How much do i need to start trading altcoins. I would like to know what would be the ideal number.

Thanks!

For me i started trading altcoins with an ammount of 0.05 eth.  I got it when i sold my ACC token. When i have acquired my eth, i bought some Token that i believe it will soon rise its value.  I have bought it 0.03 eth and sold it for an ammount of 0.07 eth.  I think there is no ideal number except for having ammount greater than the payment for the GAS including deposit and withdraw, in addition you should have enough eth to buy other coins.  if i am to suggest you should have 0.1 eth or greater to fully maximize the capability of buying tokens then solding it at a profitable ammount.

My starting point was something around 0.15 btc, but this was only ~$200 in early 2017 and now the prices are very high compared to old good times. For the amateurs, start point should be around $500 maximum.

I think you should invest in a small amount of money, do not risk venting your assets into altcoin because you can lose all of it. The type of altcoin you can trust is bitcoin and ETH. Because these two types are always unstable, do not lose your money, many ico always use these two coins to pay

There is no ideal number on how much you need to spend in order to start trading or holding to earn more profit. I suggest that you should invest on altcoins because it is cheaper and you can start practicing with it. Bitcoin is very expensive and i think that it will only be good for holding.

A bit late here, but I thought I would give my thoughts on this.

First of all you should only ever invest what you are willing to lose, in this volatile market your portfolio can go up by 50% one day and back down by same amount the next.

You have to realize that this can happen. Best is to just hold coins, and only look at your portfolio every once in a while. incremental losses way more heavily on the mind than incremental gains.

Set targets for coins, set alerts, and exit when you are comfortable with your gains.

Also to avoid losing money, don't margin trade, that can go horribly wrong.

Sorry to come in late for this discussion, but I would like to share my own personal experience, not exactly as it happened, but it is just to give a new perspective about how much money is enough. One of my lucky breaks in the world of crypto was right in the middle of March last year, when I was just having a chat with a few people in a public chatroom. We played a game, had some good discussions and then suddenly someone asked hey do you have a Doge wallet? My answer was of course, no. Anyway, never mind. Long story short, I was given away $10 worth of Dogecoin at the time, which the guy rounded to 50k Doge. It was not even as investment for me, but I kept it.

Today, this balance is now worth more than $400 dollars. It's amazing isn't it?

There is always an ideal number you need to figure out yourself.
Just like with conventional investment opportunities you should only put in as much as you can afford without getting in need of financial help.

If you are interest to start trading I think should start at first with a handsome balance but before start you have gathered knowledge about all altcoins and trading platform because starting trading with which pair it is important.

Well if you have a lot of free time you can start with how much you can afford to loose , right ? you can transform 10$ to 100$ or to 0$ , always be ready for both effects. But if you thing that you're a good trader , then go for it mate , make money hehe and don't forget about ICO's.

I started trading with $300 pretty long ago. I bought 0.6 BTC and it brought me a very small profit due to the lack of trading experience. But in two years I had around $6000 Smiley
