It would be better if you invest an amount first that you are comfortable playing with or evn losing as trading is not always a wiining game. It should be an amount you sre willing to lose but it doesn't that it will lead to that.

I think the main thing is to start, study the topic, take part in the bounty - and then how it goes. If interested, then why not.

Start trading with the amount you can risk, if you invest more than what you can risk, it will surely hurt you.

How much do i need to start trading altcoins. I would like to know what would be the ideal number.

Thanks!

You can start with little money you have, there's no specific number about it. Most people will try ask the best strategy not how much money to start, but that's fine. Usually, people start with 0,5 btc or 1 eth but it's up to you. Just start now and face the risk, than you'll know what exactly number & strategy you need. Good luck with you.
0.5 BTC is not a small amount and as reasonable as it is to start with an amount like that, you can still start with as low as even 0.02 BTC which we already know that is no longer a small amount of BTC to really start with.

I remember when bitcoin was not even worth the amount that it is now, I started with 0.01 BTC and I was able to grow it very well within a short period, so it all depends on how good the person in question that is trading is. Continuous learning will help any person to grow further up to the level of professional trader also.

Of course, the more you can invest, the more you can earn. But you must understand that investment is a risk. Therefore, I advise you to invest the amount that you are not afraid to lose. Wink

I think it all depends on how much you want to earn in the end, understand that this kind of activity is very risky and how it can bring money, it can not bring anything and you will simply lose all your money.

Like almost everyone above stated you should start with the amount of money that will not affect you`re life if you loose it. My advice is to start with a small amount and keep it  for while. This is because at first, if you have no experience you are more probable o to do panic sell or enthusiastic buy and this is the kind of stuff that make you lose money. This small amount will help you discipline yourself and stop you from making mistakes.
Once you`re past begginer stage you can invest montly a small amount until you are satifisfied with the amount. In this time you will have profit from youre investment. Also consider investig in ICO`s. If you do youre research and have patience you can make some nice proffit this way.
Best of luck!

There is no number that is right for everyone, if you can invest 500 dollar then that is the amount you are going to use to start your trading career but if you can use more money and you are confident in your abilities then use more money, this is going to help you in the long term.
Anything that you can afford to invest or to trade would be alright, but of course since you are beginners you have to start with a small amount of money
so you will not lose hard if  you fail at first try. Knowing what you are doing will give you advantage as it will give you a open mind understand
things and to develop yourself more.

I invested about 1000 USD in graphic card and I usually get 200-250 USD a month. I invest 25% of what I mine into altcoins. I have already recovered my investment and its buying me bitcoins/altcoins.

It doesn't matter what amount of money you will begin an exciting journey into the crypto-currencies world.
The main thing is to have a flair and the knowledge of fundamental and technical analysis.
For the time being, the crypto-currency markets act in strict accordance with these rules in the forefront of Forex.

It depends on your strategy, but in my opinion, if you are a newcomer, let just spend a small amount of money. The first aim is that you have to learn skill and experience.

Yes, it is always depend on the traders because investment is very risky, ask first before making a move a lot of people are willing to help, investment in cryptocurrency is not easy.

There is no ideal number. My favorite advice is always this: Invest an amount that wouldn't hurt you financially even if you lost all of it. Although we all hope for the best and want to make profit, the crypto environment (especially the altcoin environment) is highly volatile and you never know what might happen tomorrow.

I agree. That's the beauty of the bitcoin market, you can actually start with it with little capital because there are some coins which are good enough to invest but you can buy for a price even lower than a dollars. You just have to be patient with your investment, and also, you have to be smart about it, so that would choose the better investments rather than the one-trick-ponies that may increase for one time but would not have any more in the future. Also, it would be actually better to start small and not invest all your money, since you are a beginner, you are bound to lose some of your investment in bad trades, thus, it would help mitigate your loses.

There is no ideal amount to start. It all depends on how much money you have. They don't have to be big amounts to start with. Generally, do not invest more than you can lose.
