Let us be realistic to ourselves, is good to extreme to wait for government to make provision of every in a country, sometimes when we graduate from higher colleges we expected government to create employment opportunities but in some points government keep adamant of making employment be visible and available to the mass,  on my instinct I said without government employment man can survive, I started a popcorn 🍿 business which I managed alone but right now have workers under me which I'm paying and now planning to establish another business.
Unemployment rate has gone so high around the world post covid, when the pandemic was at its worst many businesses and companies either had to lay off staffs or shut down their establishment, this led to a spike in the rate of unemployment, especially in the underdeveloped countries that were already suffering from a high rate of unemployment pre covid.

Having said that, in my country unemployment and underemployment is a very big problem for us, university certificates are no longer enough to guarantee you a job, and even if it does there is a high chance that you would be underpaid. Thus what most of the population is doing now is to start businesses, learn skills, add a side job to their main job, etc, just basically looking for an extra source of income. Our government over here have always been corrupt, so we do not expect anything good from them.

OP, the action you took is what entrepreneurs do; they don't wait for things to be done but rather get things done. In my country, there is no government job that pays up to $2500 unless for senators. So the best thing to do is start something like a business or learn a skill, not just wait until you get a job. With a good skill or even by starting a good business, you can earn more money than some civil servants. The only thing that is so beneficial about a government job is that after retirement, when a person is old and can not stress so much again, the person is entitled to receive a pension until they die.

In my country, if you are running your own business and have staff that are working for you, you will have more time than someone who is working for the government.

Anyone who has creative thinking can create a source of income without government assistance. Many people are just lazy to take initiative when it comes to earning.  They wanted to be spoonfed which makes them dependent on the government to create a job for them.

Earning opportunity is everywhere, one proof is the services created by different people during the pandemic.  The assistance of buying items of a family in return for some tips or payment for service.  Offering maintenance services from laundry to home cleaning.  And if skilled, can open a service such as aircon maintenance, computer maintenance, gadget repairs etc.

There are lots of ways if only we are willful enough to go through different challenges and difficulties in order to earn money for living.

Both the human population and its needs are growing. A nation's government cannot possibly provide for and accommodate all the financial, social, and economical needs of all of its residents at once. They won't be able to meet up in some areas because of the growing resident population. It is therefore advisable to not entirely rely on the government to take care of all your needs. Because the government cannot give everyone a job. That's why you should become involved in any lawful business or expertise that can help you pay your bills. The government can only offer what it can, therefore you will have to take responsibility for the remainder by finding work that will enable you to exist in a large country with fierce competition.

In reality, if you don't have the capability to start your own business, a job under the government will be really helpful. The salary won't be as high as with private companies but atleast you'd be compensated by less workload(since number of employees are large), complete bonuses, and insurances. A corporate job could offer you more but expect a higher level of stress and workload. Ofcourse a business would be better but how would you do things if you don't have the capability to do so? On my point of view, you may use stepping stones; start with a low salary for experience then fter a year move to another and demand a higher compensation; a cycle. Then once you have the savings to be used on investment, that could make a change. It all takes time.

If you look at the current situation in the world, you will notice that people in the government workforce are not more numerous than those who are employed and working for themselves. The majority of citizens do not work for the government, which has greatly aided economic development. The government cannot handle everything, which is why it requires assistance from other sectors aside from the public sector.

Working for the government or not, there is some kind of correlation that benefits both parties. Paying taxes to the government in exchange for the security of your life and property, including your business. It's exactly like a batter trade. We don't need government jobs to survive; we just need to find what works for us and makes us successful.

It's true to survive, but don't expect more to grow your business because when that happens the government will intervene.
Btw,do you also manufacture your own product ingredients? As far as I know, the government at least controls all the prices of ingredients to remain affordable for all economic circles. Then what about employees? You and they also have the legal protection of the relationship between employees and superiors.

It is always not necessary to doing government job or seeking for government job for survive . And I think you can't survive if you sit and do nothing and just waiting for only government job. And this sitting for government jobs increases the rate of unemployed population in a country. And this later makes life miserable for people to survive. Because government for is limited and  of course not everyone will get it's normal. So it's wise to do something instead of sitting unemploy from this way you already have take a good move and best wishes for your next target.

If you think you are doing it with out government support, you are wrong, in my opinion. It's government that provides you with protection from both external(those that might attack your country) and internal(those that might attack your business) enemies. It's thanks to the government you can buy the equipment without being scammed, and it's thanks to the government you can return it and take your money back if the quality is bad.

But if you just mean that we shouldn't wait for the government to provide us with proper job, I totally agree with you. Be the master of your own fate. And I wish you all the best regarding your business.
wow!! So the government does all this??

What country is this please cause am lost, what efforts does the government put in to ensure scamming activities are limited not to talk of terminated completely or, how and what does the government do to ensure that we do have supplies of these equipments??

In my humble opinion, as much as we need government for the security and other "social infrastructure" plus amenities the provide, when it comes to job provision, we can do that on our own without being dependent on them.

Obviously why not!  It is not something that you have to sit and hope for a government job all the time, rather I think that if you are qualified, start something yourself without waiting for a government job, it can be a business, it can be freelancing. There is no obligation to always be higher educated and do government jobs. Although many people in third world countries sit for government jobs in the hope that they can get through life well through pensions in their old age.But my thoughts are different, I think the job is very much like that, the word job comes from servant, so I think it is best to start own business even though there is risk here, but if you don't take risk, you can never achieve anything big.
There are many people who are now among the top rich people in the world without doing government jobs. And I consider it an expression of shamelessness to be educated for government jobs.
I appreciate your moves and wish you all the best for your future business.

on my instinct I said without government employment man can survive, .
I totally agreed, government jobs are not necessary to live a wealthy life but an optimistic and progressive mindset is. Because i have seen an example with my own eye, One of my professors left a government job of level 17 there is 20 level total, and he left at 17 a permanent job and went abroad for higher education and came back after round about 8 years and started to teach in our university and taught us in 2 semesters.

Now again, he went on another scholarship of desk work, where he just has to do research and will earn 9 lac ($3k+) while he was earning only 1 lac ($300) back in a government job at level 17. So yes without government jobs we can survive but we have to focus on our retirement, As we have to save money to live a happy old age life.

Talking about my own self, i never wish to get a government job because i know it will hold me to a single loophole of work for my entire life and i  can not take that loop weight so i moved up to freelancing, i am still facing a lot of difficulties like financially in freelancing and sometimes i thought i should go for a government job but that's just due to economic situation i know once i succeed i will not regret my decision.

Agreed, I disagree with the policies of the governments when they overregulate a market, create nonsensical laws, print too much money or there is too much corruption, however to deny that governments fulfill an important function will be to lie to ourselves, governments in some way or form have been around since the advent of civilizations and this is not going to change as long as humans exist, but expecting that governments provide jobs is a mistake as governments are meant to run efficiently, hiring the least number of people that they can.

In its very core, the government has all the capacities to offer up jobs and improve employment in the country it operates in. But they do not do so for many reasons. And just because you are able to work around your government's lack of empathy against the marginalized and the impoverished. Imagine if you were on these people's shoes, with not even a capital to start a business with, and no chances of ever having a loan approved because you have no dime for yourself.

In a way, the government is needed to supplement the lack of employment in these social groups. Again, just because it works for you doesn't mean it works for everyone. We're not dealt the same cards when we were born as much as you hate to admit it.

I have seen this talking point before, since I live in a country were many people have political ideals leaning towards the left, they believe the government is necessary to the existence of jobs and creation of prosperity, ironically that experiment has only brought food scarcity and unemployment here.

Others say that the ideal case is an open and liberal economy where the government only takes care of the justice and the proper regulations, so the private industry can generate wealth while not abusing the system.

I am yet to fully study both alternative and decide which one is better for my own society, for now I would be willing to give the latter one chance to see if it can reverse some of the damage done to my homeland.

Congratulations for your Popcorn business, OP.
Keep it up.  Wink

If the government are not doing what they are supposed to I bet there will be a war going on in your country right now, government provides security both internal and external, I think that's enough, if you think it's not, then take a minute and think about Russia and Ukraine right now, if you are in one of these countries I bet you won't think about getting a job or have a better life, what will be the most important thing is to stay alive.

Be thankful.

Do not wait on the government to provide a better life for you, that's your job, learn something useful, develop a skill and you will grow higher from there.

Yes, we don't have to rely to the government if we're eager to become successful and find a better job and have a better living. But government and its actions will certainly play a role to the mass on how it will create a lot of jobs especially the projects that it makes.

I'm thinking of working under the government before but then, I just thought that it's not challenging and there will be more demand to you for working under them. Well, each country has different policies and has a different experience towards working under the government but one thing is for sure, and that is not everyone can work for them.

Anyone waiting on the government to provide him or her with a white coler job is wasting his own time.
Even as a graduate, you need not wait for the government to earn a living for your self.
You can start up any small business gradually you can make it big while you still search for government job.
Waiting for government for provision is a total waste of time.
I have seen business billionaires who are graduate, without waiting for the government they started their own small scale business and today they are doing so well.

Simply considered, a smaller government could be good but at the end of the day it cant be zrro. I am one of those people who want minimum government (liberal) but also spend on what is needed. Healhtcare, education, police, fireman, military. There are some things which is needed, USA pays so much and yet doesnt even have healthcare, thats not it. Spend the salaries of excess workers of government towards startups and lesser taxes and country would blossom that way.

Two things that university graduates think about, one is looking for a job with the assumption that they will get a decent job when they have earned a bachelor's degree or even a master's degree. The second is creating jobs, or by opening a business for an independent life.

We cannot force our way of thinking on everyone. In fact most people work in government agencies to be a pride for him. On the other hand, for those who think about business, he will always be proud to tell everyone about the business he is running.

Of course every individual can survive without having to work in a government agency. We've said that the unemployed are busier than those with steady jobs. Because the unemployed will do any work to make money.

I think most of the people in this forum are less interested in the job system provided by the government. Because we know that the government will accept someone to work, they must have sufficient administrative documents.

However, good people must enter the government system, this is to prevent the government from being authoritarian in making decisions, especially in the economic field. Because if the government cannot be controlled, of course the impact will also be felt by the community. So, there are positive values when someone is in an institution.

The government's economic policies between each country differ from one country to another. There is a country that focuses on the government economy, where everyone works for the government in exchange for lower food prices and lower salaries.

In some countries, it is easy to start an activity and make profits, but all prices are very high, and without your work, you cannot feed yourself.
All these economic differences differ from one country to another, and therefore we cannot get a unified answer, but inevitably the policies in which the government controls something, it kills creativity and innovation.
