the good news is, when our miners arrive ther will be no need to update them anymore  Wink

All > batch 2 orders will have the proper firmware on it.
Updating is an quick and easy process, even for larger installations.
The actual flashing takes only a second.
Later revisions might get a Bootloader that can update the other boards through CAN.

He said all remaining orders from batch 1 should ship today so I think you can expect them to... My mail with the tracking number came late in the evening so perhaps it'll be the same time today for you...

I have to enter those tracking numbers manually and i usually do it in the evening.
And yes, all Batch 1 + 1 batch 2 order have been sent today.

I appreciate your hard work. Hopefully now Avalon get their sh*t together and ship the damn chips so you can get some real profit.

same here, but order number #32x. I’d really want the boards to ship today.

Lots of folks (myself included) are in the same position. I will say burnin has done well so far and I hope that trend continues. He has been quite good with updates.

Was with Zefir's batch 1... hopefully get the update tomorrow :-)

I was wondering that. Mine are probably a couple months away, depending on the Avalon debacle.

So, future Burnin Mining miners will not require firmware updates? (I ask because I am running Mac, no windows in the house though there is an Ubuntu box)

Thx,
IAS
It is very simple to do and the linux code requires only minor changes to work
(which of course I've been doing ...)

The code changes, as passed to me from Burnin's firmware dev person (and works):
Code:
... https://code.google.com/p/pic32prog/ ... Ubuntu with the following changes:

Lines 163 ("if (! t->adapter)") and 164 ("t->adapter = adapter_open_hidboot ();") of target.c need to be commented out.

Lines 24 ("CFLAGS         += -DUSE_MPSSE") to 26 ("LIBS           += -L/opt/local/lib -lusb") inclusive of makefile need to be commented out.

In adapter-pickit2.c, adapter-hidboot.c and adapter-an1388.c, comment out "#include "

... run as root ...

As i understand each board must be updated separatly before running via CAN

Steps:
1. get firmware .hex file and PIC32UBL.exe on windows (or pic32prog under Linux).
2. Preparations: Switch off PSU and remove all cables from BitBurner XX
So also the CAN cables should be removed? As I understand it, each Bitburner board has its own PIC. Should we update each board separately one by one? Or the update is needed only for the "main" board that will be actually connected to computer via USB?

@Kano:
The maximum allowed temperature for the boards is 75°C.
The Temperature difference between board and chip core is about 10°C.

Thanks - much better knowing than guessing - yeah I think I'll keep the default to be 60°C though to be safe - an extra 5°C buffer.
Anyone can increase it if they want with --avalon-cutoff ... and destroy their hardware as they choose Smiley
... also I've noticed that even around 50°C reading, the errors start to rise more quickly and 60°C errors are very high.

I think burnin packaged so much he could and brought it to post office, now he has a long night to ship the rest. Or can it be that he mentioned that he pays someone to package and ship the miner?

I'm not sure but I think he mentioned that everything is outsourced so far.

Correct but these first few packages were handled by me.
The rest of batch one and the beginning of batch 2 will be shipped Tomorrow.

BIG FAT HEADS UP:
The Firmware needs to be updated after receiving the units.

Flash Tool: https://www.dropbox.com/s/y6p0twf3rzt03id/PIC32UBL.exe
Current Firmware: https://www.dropbox.com/s/q22eb8f85ybtxzm/BitBurner_08.05b.hex

Steps:
1. get firmware .hex file and PIC32UBL.exe on windows (or pic32prog under Linux).
2. Preparations: Switch off PSU and remove all cables from BitBurner XX
3. connect Micro-USB cable to PC and start PIC32UBL.exe
4. in the communications section select USB, VID:0x4D8 PID: 0x0C3
5. switch on Power suppy and connect power and usb (hot-plug is possible, but not required)
6. While the red LED is blinking click "Connect"
7. click "load hex file" and select the firmware .hex
8. click "Erase-Program-Verify"
9. click "run application"
10. disconnect USB Cable
11. head on to the next board, or power cycle the whole cluster when done.

Picture instructions for steps 4 to 8 can be found here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.1639690

I work to have detailed instructions on how to assemble the thing, asap.
