To some extent bitcoin has started reacting to some economical and nor economical news and we should know that natural disaster do affects everything and cryptcoins market is not exempted. Bitcoin is developing and we are at the time that we should takes those indicators into consideration.

Hi ! First message here.

If a global disaster would happen on earth ( And I somehow don't wish it ) Would the value increase or decrease ?

I'm not talking about solar flares or EMP. But more like big wars or great natural disaster.

What are your opinions on the subject ?  Cheesy
It would increase the price. Whenever a big disaster happens the cash gets devalued, hyperinflation is actually a problem when there is an issue. Which in the end result means that if you are collapsing because of the disaster than bitcoin will worth a lot more. Devaluation of fiat currencies is great news for bitcoin however it is of course not a nice thing to hope for because it means there is a global disaster.

It depends what kind od disaster are we talking about. Bitcoin could go up if a financial crisis happened but other than tah.. People will have more important things in mind than mining bitcoins.

That's right, bitcoin won't be shooting up immediately while everybody's trying to fill their stomachs, find water, shelter, toilet paper etc but this situation of chaos won't last forever. Eventually there will be an order and that's when bitcoin will shine. That's why people warning us that we shouldn't put everything in one basket. It is either dollars or bitcoins or gold. Doesn't matter.

We'll still be needing dollars till we get rid of them completely.

Maybe it can affect bitcoin price if investors decides to withdraw the money they have invested in bitcoin and use it for their shelter and food. I’m saying this since they say that the price of bitcoin is determined by the rate of demand and supply… but anyway, disaster can never happen at every places, unless you want a meteor to fall on your head and only you alone cause it’s not going to fall on others,; you only get what you wish for.

I think it all depends on the disaster that happens big or small and where it will affect. for example, a major disaster occurred in Japan, where the majority of people have used BTC as a legal payment instrument. of course this will certainly affect the value of BTC. if after a disaster the number of requests is small, of course the value of btc will decrease and vice versa. but if a disaster occurs in a country that rejects BTC, this disaster will not have any effect on the development of cryptocurrency.

natural disaster like war or earth quake always has a way of affecting everything around it, we dont wish for none of it, but a third world war would greatly affect the value of bitcoin negetively.

I think it will drop. Because if it happens there will be a huge impact on the internet, which bitcoin can not survive if the internet is gone. Then people need more important things such as food, gold and silver
That is one logical and main point. Bitcoin cannot survive without Internet and a disaster can effectively reduce the value of Bitcoin as well. But it also depends on the type of disaster that affects the society.

Like we had the oil price shock and the embargo which affected people financially and reduced the employment ratio and led to inflation. Same was the situation in 1990s in America. So if the disaster can reduce your demand for Bitcoin, it will affect the Bitcoin in a worst manner.

It all depends on who's affected and what the extent of the damage would be to said countries.

A big war right now would throw a large portion of the world into shambles for a while, and the longer it goes on the significantly more damaging it will be. As long as the internet is operating, Bitcoin will be able to proliferate, but there are so many individual variables that can affect whether or not Bitcoin would be good that it's next to impossible to determine either way.

A natural calamity or a disaster is one of an example that can decrease the Bitcoin's value. Depends on how many countries affected and where the disaster happens.
It could be a great loss towards people who will suffer on that time. There will be an absence of things needed in order to communicate with each other through social medias. But I know that people will find ways. We innovative anyways.
The nature of bitcoin is far different than rest of the regular currencies as well as other crypto currencies. In case any such thing happens, then this will then result in rise in the market value of the bitcoin as there will be chaos all over the world and that people will be looking for the ways which can then help them in staying safe from any such kind of thing to meet up their needs.

If a global disaster will happen, it would affect the price of those things first which are essential for living like food, water, housing etc. People would look for survival first. In that time, I don't think people are going to give much attention to Bitcoin or crypto, so value of Bitcoin should decrease.

I think that when a disaster occurs, the Bitcoins and cryptocurrency will be where many people think to store their money so it will push the market up. Even so, I myself do not want to have a catastrophe in the world because the catastrophe is already over.

I think in case of major disasters such as natural disasters or environmental damage, in my opinion will not affect the value of crypto. because crypto is not centered on a country and is not controlled by any country. except in the event of a global economic crisis or the collapse of the dollar, maybe affect the value of crypto

In my own opinion, global disaster will affect the market prices depending on the place where it will land because there are plants for block chain to work and it can actually slow the transactions in the market.

I dont think that either would have an impact on bitcoin  Undecided
This is your opinion and you must be able to prove it. My statement isn’t for you brother, this is basically of the person who is asking this question. Actually global disasters can have an impact on bitcoin price but this is just unsure. You can’t say this is right in case of bitcoin. But yes, oil and gold and silver and all other minerals, they might be effected heavily from these disasters.

Bitcoin is not like most of you all sees it. It is totally different and not linked to our economy just like you think. So if there is a any disaster it can not affect the price of Bitcoin, the only thing that affect the price of Bitcoin is the markets buying and selling. That’s why you see some people (the whales) manipulating the market to be going up and down. So disasters don’t affect the price of any cryptocurrency.

Let's hope that there will be no war, but perhaps crypto under such a situation can grow at times.
In the case of a war money is not that useful, what it is really useful are goods and services, I have read about different civil wars and when the economy comes to a halt paper money does not hold any value at all, what it matters more than anything is food, shelter, water, toilet paper, cleaning agents and several other goods that we take for granted.

The question is very interesting, but it totally would depend on which disaster and the context. SO I really guess there is no certain answer to your question, at all.
