Well, I would say that I did this back in 2014. My mother already deposited all the money I need to pay for school for the year and also some allowance for my daily needs. I gambled around half of it on NBA odds. I lost that half. So I lived on really cheap food and really avoided buying anything. I even tried to avoid buying things I need like books just to save money. Was a gruesome year for me, luckily I got through. Wouldn't do that again.

How bout you guys, would you do it?
I am a very interested in psychology of gamblers. So I want to ask you serious question: what would you do if instead of losing half of your money you won?
Would you stop then grab money and call it a good day? I am more inclined to say that you would gamble until a loss, to push boundaries of your luck.

At the time I was a stupid college kid so I don't know. I initially profited in my first few weeks. I remember earning $30 a day from my activities. But then it all turned sour in the middle and it turn really ugly by the end. I was betting $30 on each game on straights of NBA odds. In the first few weeks I was doing really good with three game parlays which really profited. I thought I was invincible after the first week. Then I lost most of the games every week and the winnings disappeared and I incurred loses instead.

I wouldn't do it no. Gambling with your school fund is stupid but if anybody does it with money that's supposed to be for their child's school fund then they're disgusting.

No, I will never use school fund for gambling. Only dumb people use them. I think most of the people here is to conscious enough to realize what is good for their family and themselves. Using school fund can easily terminate a family in a second. I only use some extra bucks I got from doing survey to gamble, that's it

Hell no! although it may be bit enticing to think that you can double any money you have if you have good odds in gambling, i still won't risk it especially if it's for something as important as my child's education. that's a good lesson for you though dude and you're a bit fortunate as well that you were able to save for the losses. but yeah for me, it would be about priorities and gambling is in no way high above that list.

Nope I would never do this and I think this is even crazy if you do this, if you are doing this you are most likely addicted to gambling in my eyes this is just not good at all.

i've already done this too when i was on college and i would say it is worth it too try mostly for first timer but this is too risky if you're going to gamble your tuition fee. but im a lucky kid back on days. because i've literally make it double in a poker games in the house party that's why i never regret anything because i didnt lose my tuition fee in fact i used my winnings to buy a new laptop Cheesy
That's how gamblers think, we are too positive that we forget to think the other side of the coin, you are lucky you win but whatever you say it is still not right to gamble what is intended for your education, it would be a little acceptable if you work for that money but if you are just relying from your parents, maybe we have to think that we are being unfair to them. We have to recognize their effort and value the money they gave to us.

It is wrong to sacrifice someone or your future only for gambling, school fund is very important for future without education you will have difficulty to find proper job, you only should gamble with spare money, gambling is supposed to be an entertainment not for you to destroy your future

For me, giving money or using money to your child is like an long term investment. You are investing your money for the good future of that child. Thats what most parents do. But gambling that fund, that guy has a problem. It can be used to other good things than in gambling. Just  think what will that poor child feel? It will broke his/her heart. That the worst.

I did this too way back 2012 when I was still in college and I spent 25% of my total fund for paying my tuition fee. Since I am that active with e-sports  betting because I was once a Dota player. Unfortunately, what happened is I lost that amount and that's why I stopped studying by that year because the cashier doesn't want to accept my payment unless I will pay in full.  Cry

I remember wasting a lot of time back in the day trying to become a professional starcraft:bw gamer. It was when e-sports where still very underground in the west and you were labelled a weirdo/nerd for even implying making a living off competitive gaming was a viable idea. I realized it was a waste of time. It's simply impossible to outcompete those damn asians. The south koreans are the best at those games and they get tons of resources to train all day.

I know that feeling of yours with my Dota-Dota 2 experience but it seems that it is not really for me because my parents are blaming me now for addicted to it. And if not just because of it I was able to graduate earlier and I don't have to stop. But I am already on the competitive scene by that time but because of that incident I realize that the money that was being gave by my parents to me for my school fees came from their hard work. That's why I decided to quit 2015.

in fact, I would never do that if I were you. it is a very big risk, and it can affect your life. before gambling, you'd better think about things that could happen in the future, because if you do not do that, it will be very difficult for you to live the days, when you lose. but, there is always hope. you should start collecting the money in a way that truly benefits, such as start looking for bitcoin, trading, investment, and others.

wow that is the worst thing, to gamble your child's school fund, it is still bad to do what OP did and gamble and lose all your own funds but the worst is when you gamble other people's money even if it is your own children. and sadly this happens a lot among gambling addicts who look for any source of money for their gambling, hopefully we don't see many of them around here.
i think only bad addicted people can do so. to me i play gambling with my extra money, and i never your my important money that i reserve for some business or for any other thing.

yes i have been did it once and my parents doesn't know about that because i could double those funds by playing traditional cards indeed that was crazy things but honestly i was so fear losing all my money and fortunately i wasn't lost
You took a big risk, man, but fortunately for you it worked out for the better but even if you are very good at playing cards, I suppose you mean poker, you must understand not even the best players win every time so if possible avoid that in the future.

Better not to gamble when you're still school since mostly child / teenager only act based on their rage
For example : if they win, they will keep betting more and more but when they lose , they will chase the lose until they get profit again  ( even they insist to ask money for their parent with rush ! )

i don't think that i will do this because the school fund is most important than to do gamble and we should not use the school fund for any reason except for buying some foods because we need food for our life. its too dangerous if we risk the school fund and i hope you don't have to do this again in future.
