I wouldn't give bitcoin as a wedding gift only because couples like having gifts that are helpful for the family that they are going to start. I am aware that money is mostly what they are going to be needing in the future but bitcoin isn't necessarily money. Unless one of them is a bitcoin user, I wouldn't give bitcoin as a wedding gift. They will appreciate it more it it's something that have a physical appearance. An example of this is clothes for the baby, bottles, and whatnot baby stuffs. It can also be a trip to a Paris for example. Bitcoin is just hard to understand for beginners and I don't think they will not have the time to learn all these things just to get the bitcoins that you gave to them.

Some tech-savvy wedding-goers are gifting the digital currency to new couples. Honeyfund, a honeymoon registry that allows guests to give cash rather than gifts, has seen more than a dozen customers donate in bitcoin, said chief executive officer and co-founder Sara Margulis. In recent years, more than a dozen customers have chosen to route donations to the site from bitcoin wallets. Zola, a wedding registry website, has had just two cash funds created for bitcoins since 2013, a spokeswoman said. "I would expect it to pop more as millennials come into the wedding age,” Honeyfund’s Margulis said. “It’s something you will do if your friends and family are already into bitcoin.

Bitcoin as an retirement plan, bitcoin to secure the future of your kids, and now bitcoin as a wedding gift. Whether or not bitcoin replaces cash in future, it looks like the trend of gifting bitcoin instead of cash at weddings is definitely going to catch up and more wedding registeries would be adding bitcoin as a gifting option.

Avoid using a wedding gift "as an opportunity to proselytize a technology you personally believe in, but the recipient could not care less about."

People who are not into bitcoin might not appreciate getting a volatile currency as a gift, and might never use it, thus adding it to the list of lost coins, but I think people who are already using bitcoin or would most probably use it in future then bitcoin instead of cash is the apt wedding gift for them.

Giving Bitocin as a wedding gift is a good idea but I think we should make it as a second gift because if we give only Bitcoin, it's just like we are celebrating them with money. Anyway, it's a good idea, not only we can celebrate them but also we can give them chances to use Bitcoin.

I probably would if Bitcoin would spread like that in my surroundings and friend circle, it could be cool and unusual, but money is money. Unfortunately,  my whole country is weak of knowledge of Bitcoin and it is not bery interesting to the people here.

If my friend knows what bitcoin is all about and if we have a better solution to spend bitcoin then i am happy to gift them to my friend as a wedding gift as usually we used to give a donation from friends if there is a marriage and it is possible to gift them with bitcoin rather than the fiat currency and for that to happen we need more front ends that will allow us to spend the coins easily.

I always thought to give gifts to my friends who are birthday or married but with what I have to give, I do not have enough money. But I have some bitcoin to give to him. Masalhnya he does not know bitcoin. So I think to change my bitcoin to the currency. And buy him something worthwhile. That's what I often do to give gifts to my friends.

I WILL do it.

And have the key hidden behind a nightmarish chain of tasks and make the guy sweat blood to get it.

If you give bitcoin to a person who does not accept it then he probably will not appreciate this gift. For weddings, it is customary to give things which are essential to the newlyweds for life. I think bitcoins do not belong to this category.

Probably wouldn't go as far as giving it as a gift, because it wouldn't be understood at all, unless the groom is a die-hard bitcoin enthusiast Cheesy, Seriously speaking I see bitcoin better as a simple gift rather than something official like a wedding gift.

No sorry for that but my bitcoin is precious to me.  I will give a good amount of money or maybe getting them a trip for honeymoon.  And when they asked where I got my money there I would say about the bitcoin.  Maybe I could encourage them to try it.  If I would give bitcoin as a gift and they do not know anything about bitcoin, perhaps they will not much appreciate it.

It is true that bitcoin is very valuable to us and if there is a friend who married the possibility of me not giving a bitcoin gift and maybe I will give cash for my honeymoon

If the married couples know about this bitcoin, then it is worth to present a gift. But if they not I think it will become a very difficult situation for us because we need to explain to them what is Bitcoin and everything. We have time to explain, but they are too busy, so this will not work out. And as you told bitcoin is very precious money I don't like to lose my bitcoins for this type of reasons.

I will but not all of my bitcoins, I will suggest to my wife that it's only a gift to her but still that will be used for funding our needs or good for savings. So even I will going to gift it to her still we both are going to benefit on it. That will only be look like I gave it to her but still I will have the control to those bitcoin because we are one now.

In normal conditions if the guy or girl uses Bitcoin it would be normal i guess but in my country it's just a big no.There is even a special ceremony where we give our gifts to the couple and some guy with a microphone announces to everyone.I can't explain to everyone even if the couple knows what is it.  Cheesy

It's a good idea and bitcoin can be used as a first step in married life to build some business and many person has a good life in using bitcoin. And it can also used in some expenses like honeymoons, out of town trips and even out of the country ans you can also buy all the things you want. But ofcourse make sure to have a settled life in your future family

That will be totally dependent on the person who am giving the gift, no one wants to give a gift and then feel it was not appreciated by the receiver, if the person thus know about bitcoins and it's potential then I will very much give him or her that gift since it's going to be appreciated a lot.

The gift will only be relevant to someone who knows what to make use of it and in my own case hardly will I see any of my friends who qualifies to receive gift from in the case of wedding knows about bitcoin. So, what I will do and what they will prefer is just to have me convert to cash and then buy whatever they would want be to get them to make both of our lives easy.

Ofcourse. It's quite okay and my wife will be glad and will be happy if I did it. Because bitcoin today as we know is very popular and many people are dreaming of it. And you can use bitcoin different aspects such as business for your family and buying things you want and ofcourse the things you need and will be needed if you have a family.

Yes I think bitcoin as a wedding gift would be a good idea to give someone close to you. Of course you wouldn't give someone something they didn't know about, so I would make sure the person I am giving this as a wedding gift would know about bitcoin so she would know how to use it.

I would rather buy them something precious also but not my BTC.  Wink It is too precious for now. I am using it for trading.

Well, except if I have so many already and the person wed is someone who is also into BTC.

Certainly.  It is so precious so I agree with you that I would not give it as a wedding gift.  Like what you said I will buy them something especial or something that will be memorable.  Like a trip to a beautiful island maybe Palawan.  But not giving them my btc.  And besides, what if that couple do not know anything about bitcoin.  They might be shocked and needed time for them to learn about it.  But if I will be given a gift such as bitcoin, I would love to receive it with arms wide open.
