What's up with this crap?

Code:
We also need to receive any financial document which can confirm how the funds sent to your Bitstamp account were acquired.

USD deposit has been held for 10 days.

Update:  No update from Bitstamp.  Why is this an issue?  They are not in the US.  Has anybody been subjected to this same scrutiny?

Both the banks are in Slovenia. Your mom should have a look at her monthly statement (or at her e-banking interface) and see the factual bank's name.

If it reads ''Creditanstalt'', then she should contact her bank and request the money back or be resend to the correct bank.

If it reads ''Unicredit'', then Bitstamp and / or its bank may be at fault.

Update: We checked the wire receipt, and it was sent to Unicredit. Bitstamp asked mom to order a "wire trace" to see where it went to (about $40). Will let you know what we find out (at this point this is more of a learning excercise for anyone else who runs into this problem, as opposed to a concern with Bitstamp).

Final update: The wire trace found where the money went, but Bitstamp never found the transaction, so last last week mom put in a request to wire the money back directly from the receiving bank (basically to undo the unclaimed wire). Hopefully she will get it back within a week or two. Once she gets it, she plans to just use Coinbase. The reason we tried using Bitstamp in the first place is because their 0.38% fees make purchases of larger amounts cheaper, even with wire fees.

Since a week, I noticed that Bitstamp's internal withdrawal processing is slower than what I am used to.

For months, withdrawals used to be processed within 24 hours, sometimes even within just a few hours. Now, with me, it seems that withdrawal processing is taking 48-72 hours++.

No reason to panic yet, because this is still very good compared to you know where. But I am watching this very closely.

edit: a withdrawal request that I made today, was processed within 2 hours   Smiley    sorry I will keep quiet next time

You just have to keep in mind that it is xmas time.

After 3 weeks I finally got my coins back from bitstamp.

Despite not being verified? I'd say that's actually pretty classy of Bitstamp. Yeah it took a couple of weeks, well you didn't exactly play it perfectly yourself either.

You're crazy. I never agreed to their verification terms in the first place. Then they changed their TOS midstream without notifying me. They have my email.

I have yet to see ANY EVIDENCE that bitcoin balances fall under any government jurisdictions, so their request is unreasonable as well. I would understand if they wanted verification for USD withdrawal, but its total crap to request it for bitcoin withdrawal.

So I canceled my account instead. I don't see how that means I should be treated worse out of spite.

Want privacy? Use Monero!
Bitstamp should consider "cold storage" of USD ass well due to the Slovenian banking crisis.
It would look like this:

What is going on with withdrawals? In process for 5 days?

Solved now Smiley

Was it resolved? I have a "Waiting to be processed" wire transfer withdrawal for a few days now. My previous transfers only took a few hours to get to "Finished". Anybody know if there are withdrawal problems with the exchange?

Well it just got finished. I am now waiting again (longer than usual) - but it is that time of the year when everything is crowded, so I suppose a day longer than usuall is acceptable.

I tell you: one day we will have a dance of joy on the grave of banks for the pain they had caused us.

Thanks for the update.

and coins-e also has no white clothes...
